I've done the conversion myself and it's totally worth it. Brings more potential power, fuel economy and way more engine safety in regards to knocking.

I’m definitely going to pocket this for a potential future upgrade of my 92 vert. First thing though is some interior work. Gotta catch one of your show live Lee, these are great! And thanks Jordan.

There is no way to really prepare for the overall improvement in performance of a c900, as a result of upgrading to the Trionic 5.5 engine management system. I had 1 of my SPGs converted a few years ago and I was absolutely blown away by the results. I actually had to go back to the tuner to dial the boost/hp back ---- my skill level was not up to par, with the increase in power. I track the car and I am so pleased with the results that I am having 2 more of my SPGs converted. While the factory c900T, 5 speed transmissions are the weakest link on these SAABs, I have not had any issues with my clutch or transmission. There are 2 ways to approach the T-5.5 conversion; 1) leave the AC operational(more expensive) or 2) Delete the AC(less expensive). I did an AC delete, for weight reduction and unless you go crazy with the boost or you are really hard with your gear changes, the stock tranny should hold up just fine. I am going with a type 9 primary set-up and a more extensive weight reduction on this current conversion, for a higher level of track performance. @LeeKelso: IMHO, I would not advise a T-5.5 conversion on a '94 CE, if you are looking for an increase in value. I also have a '94 CE in my stable and the combination; factory Redbox and bigger fuel pressure bar, make for the most powerful stock c900 model ever produced and a very fun car to drive. IMHO, a totally original example is always more valuable, than a fully restored or modified example. However, if you are talking about a Singer level restomod on a SAAB...….

I'm interested in experiencing the difference in a Trionic conversion, but lean toward your thinking on originality supporting value for this particular model. This car is already a rebuilt title due to front end damage in a previous life, so that's one knock against it already. Gives me something to look forward to on another car in the future.

@@LeeKelso The great thing about trionic 5 conversion is the ability to convert it back to original if you need it. i would say go for it even on rare special edition models cause you can always keep the old parts and change it back when you want to sell.

Hello i have a few questions and need big help! i am doing the trionic converson aswell but i have a few problems. for start i have a Saab 900 LPT (1993) with Lucas Injektion. for start: - can i use the big looking Throttle valve sensor for the trionic or do i need one from bosch? or am i need the Throttle valve from a saab 9000? -how do i remove the old Wiring Harness from the inside room of my saab? -do i need a knocking sensor and if yes where is the best place to put it? -i buyed the Wiring Harness from a saab 9000 with T5 Trionic, can i put in 1:1? - on my Boost Valve Controll are a three letters W C R what are the meanings of them? and where are they supposed connected to? - do i need an APC Tachometer? I hope you can answer my questions, cause the project is getting to long and a little bit frustrating now....

My current SAAB is a 1994 Commemorative Edition. Do you think a Trionic 5 conversion would add value, or is the car worth more as it came from the factory?
@jordanrpagano5 жыл бұрын
The nice thing about the modification is that it is completely reversible as long as you keep your original components, nothing needs to be cut and if for whatever reason it needs to be returned to factory original, it can. I think once any one drives a converted car there would be no reason why they would go back! I believe there will be a market for converted cars as well.
