TRIP REPORT | DB Regio | Decin - Bad Schandau - Rumburk| Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland | Siemens Desiro

For this video, I travelled on cross-border train between Děčín and Rumburk via Bad Schandau. This route is called National Park Railway and running through the Bohemian Switzerland and Saxon Switzerland national parks. This service is operated by DB (Deutsche Bahn) Regio in cooperation with České dráhy (ČD).

Beautiful route, and it's quite interesting that it starts and ends in Czech Republic but goes through Germany. Czech/Saxon Switzerland looks like an interesting holiday destination.

Thanks for watching! Yes, it is, but most passengers always only use parts of the route, the section Děčín - Schöna - Bad Schandau and then the section Bad Schandau - Sebnitz are the busiest. I like this area, and also the railway line along the Elbe is one of my favorite routes :-)

Hi Pete, great video as always. This train progides a really great Czech -German link. I love how you list all the railway lines leading from a certain station. I think it could be even better if you used a screenshot from openrailwaymap, with large juction stations like Děčín the lines of text get a bit messy and the map would be more legible.

A great Siemens ride on an atmospheric line, when I look at this train it reminds me of my childhood when I was traveling with my family from Wrocław to Bolesławiec, do you ever plan to record regional trains in Poland? Because you're doing great, thumbs up as always 👍 :)

This class 642 units with big VVO writing are not scheduled on this line, normally there is an older unmodernised version of class 642 on this line (with dráha narodniho parku/Nationalparkbahn writing), but the scheduled units are often defect or they operate german domestic trains (DB Regio can´t use their rolling stock on the right line like it´s scheduled, i would not wonder if they accidentaly try to operate an electric train on a not electrified route 😂) The scheduled units has czech announcements and a first class. There is only one modernised scheduled dráha narodniho parku/Nationalparkbahn unit with power sockets and more airline style seats. But there is one mistake in your very nice video: The VVO class 642 are equipped with power sockets on some places

Yes, I know that they are not scheduled for this route, but I see them on this line quite often and also the train conductor said that unit 642 with the VVO logo has been arriving very often last time. Btw. thanks for the update with power sockets, unfortunately I didn't find any in the section where I traveled :-/

Přesně tímhle spojem jsem teď ve čtvrtek jel. Jen tedy jen z Dečína do Schmilky-Hirschmühle (a odtud přivozem na druhou stranu řeky), zpět pak o pár hodin později z Bad Schandau do Děčína. Mimochodem, oba tyto spoje (a předpokládám, že i všechny další) skvěle navazují na rychlíky Labe z/do Prahy. A prázdno jsem rozhodně neměl, cestou tam jela (krom jiných) velká skupina českých penzistů mířících kamsi na cyklovýlet, cestou zpět pak opravdu velká grupa mladých (nejspíše) Španělů, jež se nejspíš po etapách přesouvala z Amsterdamu do Prahy.

Ano, myslím že jsem viděl pár fotek z tvé cesty. Já měl ve vlaku také skupinu penzistů a vyloženě to jeli jako vyhlídkovou jízdu :-D Ano, o návaznosti na rychlík Labe vím, jel jsem to již několikrát, dokonce jednou jsem jel z Drážďan s přestupem v Bad Schandau na U28 a pak dál rychlíkem Labe a vše celkem pěkně navazovalo :-)

Vim, že jezdí ještě Desira, co maj jako malou 1.třídu klasické kozené sedadla.

Mám pocit že s koženými sedadly její jen jedna jednotka, která je přímo určena pro tuto trasu, jinak ostatní se tam celkem střídají, poslední dobou se objevují celkem často tyto S-Bahn verze bez 1. třídy.

Je to tak, závisí na jednotce s tou první třídou, já třeba na tu první třídu štěstí měl když jsem jel tou samou linkou.

Ano, je to dost o náhodě, když jsem jel na Velikonoce z Bad Schandau, tak jela také zrovna ta s 1. třídou .. Ale co jsem se bavil s vlakvedoucíma, tak poslední době často pošlou z Německa jednotku co je určená pro S-Bahn. Náhodně jsem se včera díval v můjvlak, a také jela na tomto spoji zrovna bez 1. třídy :-D

Je takové zvláštní, že Desiro od DB nemá zásuvky 230V a USB, které jsou přitom i v modernizovaných 810 (alespoň v těch na S99)

If you have a 1st class ticket and 1st class is missing from the train, are you entitled for a refund or compensation?

If 1st class is missing, then you are entitled to a refund of the fare difference between 1st and 2nd class. For trains of higher categories, there is also a right to compensation.
