First of all a great tripreport! Now to the comments. A lot of the people say that "Iberia is a bad airline because they don't have a IFE" etc. 1. Iberia's A340-300 will be replaced this year and I don't think that Iberia want to install personal IFE for only a few months 2. Iberia's A330 and A346 is equipped with a personal IFE and WIFI.

Indeed this aircraft looks very old fashioned. Espectially the antique looking TV-screens in the cabin. Yes. The food was looking yummy. The ham-sandwich looked very dry, wasn,t it? WOOW!!! Always approaches into Quito will be very spectacular. Like your flight too. Quito is a relatively dangerous and challenging airport for pilots around the world.

I love those old A340, they never want to lift off the ground ! The long roll takeoff is already exciting (or scaring ?) but in a hot summer day it's just so cool ! Did you realize that your aircraft took almost all the runway to takeoff and she rotated just 9 sec before the end of the runway ? :-)I know it's a FLEX takeoff but it's always thrilling to rotate after 10700 ft roll ! Great review.

awesome flight. You have to understand however that Iberia was retiring their A340-300's very soon. They actually have no A343 on their fleet since october. So installing their new IFE on this aicraft wasn't economically profitable, but I still share your complaint on a missing IFE for such a long flight. Thanks for sharing! :D I will also post my latest flight experience with Iberia A340-600 Madrid to Buenos Aires, Argentina (this time with IFE) Keep it up :)

Hello, this airplane (EC-GHX "Rosalia de Castro) is currently retired and scrapped. It was a very old plane. Today the long-haul fleet of Iberia has the A330-300 and A340-600 models. The A330 are new and Interior has all the comforts, screen even in economy class. the A340 were remodeled inside with all the amenities. Iberia has bought several A350 that will be delivered in the coming months and will replace the A340-600. Congratulations, your channel is very good.

Nice Trip Report. An average 3 star airline and fair looking meals seats. no IFE for 10 hours flight is really bad...but atleast they got magazines. I have to say at least screens should be there even if a few wont work but it just looks decent..but then its anaverage airline and such issues are common In Iberia,United,Air India etc

02:39... Yes, Iberia & Vueling does that. They play music during takeoff and landing I think to ease the tension of those on board who might have fear of flying. You got some great videos, just subbed.

Was there entertainment (news, two films, between them flight maps, and bevore landing cartoons) shown on the overheadscreens. So it was on most airlines until the 2000s - you get earphones and choose English or Spanish or music on your armrest.

I made the route Quito-Madrid 4 times in the 1980's,back then there was no IFE systems. We only had two films, music and magazines. The flight was made with a DC-10 of Iberia. Not to menition the crew wasn't very polite with passengers.

iberia has horrible cabin crews..the Spanish mentality isn t made for service..those sullen,boring faces and indifferent attitude..same with Air France..a service mentality which is lacking...

They showed films, news, flight maps. The program was shown in in-flight magazine. You could choose English or airlines language and music channels in your armrest. Short bevor arrival, often cartoons where shown - so you knew you would arrive soon 😁.

FlightExperience Thanks for the reply! I flew the A330 to Chania last summer, it was a really nice and big aircraft, but it was also very outdated with TVs from like 2000. Overall the flight was very nice! Anyways, do you recommend Iberia? Was it better than Thomas Cook or KLM?

In my oppinion KLM is better than Iberia, but nevertheless Iberia is also a good airline and we can recommend them. I`ve never flew on Thomas Cook, but on Condor which is part of the Thomas Cook Group. So they have a really modern cabin on their 767s, so we can really recommend them too. But they purchase for the use of the full entertainment system and seat reservations. Thanks for your big interest!

Great video, but I'm very angry with Iberia. My flight was supposed to be on a renovated a340-600 but than was changed to the -300. As a result, we got bumped down from business class and but in a economy seat.

i´ve flown the ib6454 for the past 3 summers, and i usually ended in a plane with those seats, i believe they kept rotating the older planes for this route, at least i remember those being rosalia de castro, concepcion arenal and concha espino

Im A340-300 gibt es vermutlich kein persönliches Entertainment System, da solltest du eventuell mit Videos auf dem Handy oder Zeitschriften vorsorgen ;)

@sullyandplane that the A340-300 don't have a personal IFE is not because Iberia is low cost. The A340-300 of Iberia will be replaced this year, the A330/A346 fleet has a personal IFE even a few A319 has a overhead IFE

I had a flight from madrid to sao paulo on my way to bolivia back in 2013 on this plane with no effing IFE. a 13 plus hour flight with no IFE is a joke. As soon as i stepped on the plane i literally huffed and puffed hahah. Didnt know you could fly across the atlantic on such an old plane. The flight back was the 600 thank christ. Service was okay. I dont like to bother them too much cos i want to be flight crew soon myself but they did start to say they wouldnt serve me liqor cos me and my friends where talking and laughing and it was such an empty flight and we wasnt loud but hey hoe. Id fly iberia again if it was particularly cheap but its not really.

Yes this is a bit outdated, but they´ve retired the A340-300 now. So if you fly Iberia today you will have an IFE!
