Trip Report | Wide-body is better! | Amsterdam - Madrid | Air Europa Economy Class | Boeing B787-8

There are few big wide-bodies flying around in Europe. Air Europa occasionally flies the B787-8 and -9 to Amsterdam. And boy what a difference does it make to your occasional B737 or A320!
I would choose this over anything else everytime!

Un placer Yuanao, gracias por el comentario! Hay dias en los cuales Iberia vuela el A330 a Amsterdam, pero no con la frecuencia casi diaria de Air Europa. Desafortunadamente es una gran diferencia con Iberia si vuelas en Turista y vale más la pena Air Europa. Pronto sacaré el vuelo de regreso a AMS con Iberia😁

Una gran pena que les haya pillado justo al comienzo del covid. Su dependencia de los turistas es mucho mayor que Iberia o Vueling. Realmente espero que les vaya bien. Tengo muchos recuerdos volando con ellos al caribe con el B767 o A330 sin IFE o lujos algunos (y me encantaba!)😁

You should defiantly try Austrian Airlines in long haul on business class!! Do&Co and a dedicated coffee menu with alcoholic coffee!! Being an Austrian native I maybe biased but it’s fantastic

Thanks for the comment! I’ve tried Austrian’s Business prior to making video’s and totally loved it! It’s, like you said, a spectacular catering offering. Hope it’s not simplified during Covid. I think they were the first to have a “chef on board”. Would love to try them again soon, but so far I am only flying places where I kind of need to go for work. Once this becomes a bigger channel I’ll have more freedom to fly who I want to fly. Ticket with Austrian Business costs a good 3000-4000€😵. And they don’t fly anymore to Dubai like they used to.. But I promise I’ll do my best!

We flew air europa in aug 2021 from Miami to Tenerife North. 789 the whole way and enjoyed them very much. The flight MIA to MAD was great. The other 3 not so much. Found out the MIA to MAD flight was operated by a 789 in old configuration with 31 in pitch in economy. The other 3 had the new configuration with 28 in. I am 6ft 6 and can not fit in anything less than 31 in pitch. I chose Air Europa becuase of the new livery and the price. It is simple yes but i love the color blue. The service on all flights was good. I am one of those that does not need the cabin crew to chit chat with me the whole time. The crew was all business and very prompt when call button was pressed. They where pleassnt at meal service but other than that you never saw them except for every so often they would walk the aisles to make sure everything was ship shape. If they ever went back to 31 in pitch (LOL yeah right i know) i would not hesitate at all to fly them again.

Thanks for the comment Daniel! Covid restrictions, specially Spanish ones, were very harsh in 2021 so I’m not surprised crew were not to be seen. I had no idea there was a 787 around with 28 in pitch! Glad I didnt find out myself.. For what you pay I really think Air Europa is a fine airline and wouldn’t mind to fly with them either. I hope we get a chance as they seem close to shutting. Fingers crossed!

¡Glorioso! Muy buen video. Respecto a tu duda sobre los spoilers, se van hacia arriba durante el arranque del motor y el rodaje para evitar que los bordes de los flaps raspen los mismos mientras se hace el setting de flaps. Se mantiene así hasta el despegué en caso de una falla o cambio en flaps. Un compañero vuela el 787 en Avianca y pregunté para ti. ¡Un gran saludo! PD: también abro la puerta del baño como tu, hahahah con las mangas del saco. 😅

Por fin! Ves, eso tiene mucho sentido. El A380 hace más o menos lo mismo. Gracias por preguntarlo Luis. No conozco a nadie volando el B787. Los baños son un asco. Una vez que los aviones aparcan prácticamente no hay corriente de agua. Todo se limpia con los mismos trapos. No toco nada!🤮 Gracias por el comentario!

I’m happy that the channel is actually growing quite steadily. My parents & siblings live in the Netherlands. I used to quite long ago. Still consider it my home but I actually live in Dubai! Hey William! Thanks! So I use various apps to find fares, from Skyscanner to Kayak and I use VPN in various countries as fares then vary. Most of the time I end up buying tickets directly from the airline (learned during my Covid travels) as they will assist with any cancelations/delays directly with you without a middle man, such agencies. Over time I just fly so much that I’m collecting miles left and right, so I redeem those for more flights or I pay miles+cash. There is no real trick I can advise you besides spending hours looking for fare mistakes, I’ve been doing that since I was 16. There are always some. I once flew: Barcelona-Brussels (Brussels Airlines Business) Brussels-Abu Dhabi (Etihad Business) Abu Dhabi-Sydney (Etihad First Class) and all for 320€! They likely forgot a 0 at the end. I still keep finding such fares, so I buy, fly, collect miles and the snowball keeps growing!

I've found that it's tough to collect miles when using a variety of airlines from different alliances. Wow. What a deal lol. I haven't been lucky enough yet to find such a bargain. Hopefully soon :)

never flew before on B787 neither Air Europa so thanks for this video!!! the a340-600 of iberia were taken out of the iberia's fleet last year, when i came from bogota on iberia's a350 i Saw an BA a380 there! if you are going to punta Cana from Madrid please can you go on a350 Iberojet ???

I have a few more B787 video’s in all variants if you’re interested. Air Europa was great on a short European flight when other small planes dont have IFE or space. I’m sad the A340’s are out of service, loved them! Yes I’ll also go on Iberojet! Iberostar hotels are my absolute favorite so would love to fly Iberojet. Awesome video, I usually don't answer that much on KZbin comments ( and now more few from what happens to me). The 787 is one of my favorite aircraft to fly and the have one of the best sound and very quiet ( to bad it wasn't put a 2-4-2 configuration as it should) , about the 787 winds paint, Virgin Atlantic and others airlines haven't reported anything and for what I see they are continue flying. Well the a350 have a more serious one on the body, and the arline (except Qatar) continue to fly it. I think it have to do with modern paint but well 🤷🏻‍♂️. By the way, do you have a video of the 747( my 1 favorite plane)?

Thank you very much Sergio! The B787 is great to fly indeed unless it’s full! The seats are much tighter vs other aircraft. But other then that it’s great. I think only JAL has some B787’s with the 2-4-2 configuration and it was amazing. But why would others spoil us while there is money to be made..?🤷🏻‍♂️ Regarding the wing paint, it seems to depend on the planes age. I’ve flown plenty of B787’s with tape covering the patches on the wing. The most beat up one I saw on KLM on my flight to Toronto. There is a video here somewhere. Thanks for the comment! Gracias! So planes have certain procedures of flap deployment. Of course you don’t have to precisely follow it, pilots can change choose flap positions at their discretion. On the B787 it usually goes flap 1, 5, 20 and gear down, then 25 or 30. Pretty much the same for the B777. Besides that I can also kind of see on the angle 😄

It might look weird sometimes indeed. But they’ve always gladly accepted it. I always say hi, I say who I am and what I do, so please not to mind my filming. I charm my way through and give them a nice treat. Whenever I’m a guest anywhere I also bring something, why not a plane😎 Only once they rejected it (Vistara) as they are not allowed to accept anything from anyone.
