And in reality, they are so incredibly stunning! I really hope that you will come back for a longer stay, these islands deserve it. Thank you so much for visiting them, and let us travel with you. It's highly appreciated!❤ Saying hi from the Netherlands. 🤗 🇳🇱

Thank you for sharing with us your trip to these 2 beautiful Japanese Islands. That is type of Ferry we need to run on certain intra Caribbean routes should the idea ever go into motion. The islanders appear to be very warm and welcoming. I really hope that either island doesn't suffer from the ills of too much tourism. Paradise should always remain unspoiled. ❤
@capsulejapan6 ай бұрын
You are right, I want Paradise to retain as much of its pristine nature as possible. There is no move to build an airport on these islands. Therefore, the number of tourists is limited. That is a very good thing.😸

@capsulejapan9 ай бұрын
@juuuwi9 ай бұрын
@capsulejapan9 ай бұрын

Interesting! It seems there are no resort hotels on Hahajima, as it is registered as a World Natural Heritage Site and tourism development is prohibited. The Kuroshio Maru usually goes to Aogashima Island, so your next destination is Aogashima Island right? 🙇 Aogashima Island is selected one of ‘13 Amazing Natural Wonders You Should See Before You Die’ by famous One Green Planet.
@capsulejapan9 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. Hahajima is not developed, so the nature is very well preserved. The Kuroshio Maru is temporarily in service on this route as a replacement for the Hahajima Maru. When the Hahajima Maru returns, the Kuroshio Maru will once again sail between Hachijojima and Aogashima. Next time I would like to visit Aogashima, too.😸

Great trip. The vibe between Chichijima and Hahajima is different, even though the distance between them only 50 km. Bit curious, is Bonin Island still part of Tokyo or not? That cannon hiding on forest and yeah no Senior High School in the island, meaning students who graduated from Junior Highschool should leave their island to another island or going to mainland for higher education.
@capsulejapan9 ай бұрын
The Ogasawara Islands are still part of Tokyo. Chichijima and Hahajima have different ecosystems. Chichijima is a dry shrub forest, while Hahajima is mainly a wet tall tree forest. There is no high school on Hahajima, but there is on Chichijima. However, it is not possible to commute from Hahajima to Chichijima. You are correct, the children of Hahajima need to leave the island to go to high school.😸

The cannon shown looks like the Japanese version of the 8.8 cm Flak 18/36/37/41 anti-aircraft and anti-tank artillery gun during World War 2. The 8.8 cm Flak 18/36/37/41 is a German 88 mm anti-aircraft and anti-tank artillery gun, developed in the 1930s. It was widely used by Germany throughout World War II and is one of the most recognized German weapons of the conflict. The gun was universally known as the Acht-acht ("eight-eight") by the Germans and the "eighty-eight" by the Allies. Due to its lethality, especially as a tank killer, the eighty-eight was greatly feared by Allied soldiers.
