This video saved my drone after lots of time wasted doing other procedures. I tried older firmware versions etc. Finally I updated the firmware and followed your steps .... Instantly all systems go. The problem started for me after updating the firmware a few weeks ago, its possible that there was an issue during the install. This time I just updated via the DJI software. The final step was to perform the link as you demonstrated. GREAT video!

Thank you so much! Did my downgrade, was successful! After all these months with signal lost above 100mt, its good to have some bright light. Will test it in few days on the beach and will leave a feedback. Once you upgrade to version 1.07.9 - which came out after this video, you can not go back to any previous version. I did. 1.07.9 eliminates all previous versions. You can only go back ONE version from your current version now. So as it stands. Dont waste ur time trying any other versions e.g:v1.5.7 or v1.6.8, this is the only one that works: 1.07.9 I think DJI did this so people would get disappointed and slowly slowly upgrade to P4 and eventually their latest gadget Mavic. just bought the drone, fucked with it all day and couldn't get it flying. phone would say "lost signal", yet everything is as it should be. typing in google no signal to rc, got here, fixed the problem in first 3 min of the video by resetting frequency. I agree with Bee Cee! This was Christmas present for my son and when I upgraded the firmware, it caused all kinds of problems and there was no connenction from RC and Phantom. Basically shut it down. Tried the software version you mentioned but that did not work as it was probably older than what I had. Downloaded most recent and it all came back, the connectivity, the camera view and flight! Bruce Usher You are welcome. DJI doesn't cover manual firmware updates like this. I learned about it in forums and wanted to share it here as sometimes downgrading or reinstalling firmware can fix issues. DJI only covers it through the DJI Go app. That is good to know, but ultimately not enough if you run into problems. I couldn't roll back any firmware in the DJI Go app even though you are supposed to be able to. So, I just shared what I learned in case others could benefit from the same information. I'm glad it helped you :)

You should add a notation to this video to notify people of that so they don't waste 2 days trying to make this work like I did. 1.07.9 eliminates all previous versions. You can only go back ONE version from your current version now. So as it stands, as of Febraury 27th 2017, the current version is 1.08.10 and you can only downgrade as far back as 1.07.9

Thanks for the video walkthrough. I had tried a couple of other techniques and nothing was working. I am a vlogger and love adding drone footage too my vlogs and have had this thing out of commission for a week or so. I had done a recent update and it lost signal. I used the first technique you applied with the reset button and gimbal/s2 triggers and worked! Took two attempts but she is good to go. So I took her out just now and broke a blade . . . At least she is airborne again. Thanks!

It didn't work for me, when I tried updating the log told me that the version is "older or the same as the one currently installed". The main issue for me is that it won't link at ALL, not that the update is corrupted.

Great Video must check which version I have. Do I need to check the RC Firmware or will that be ok only I have only just bought this drone and don't know how to do it. This is the best video I have seen on how to change the firmware on the drone.

David Howard Thank you for the kind comment. It is my understanding that the firmware versions for the phantom 3 standard handle both the RC and the drone. Looking through forums this is one of 2 versions I have seen showing the manual firmware installation process. They both achieve the same thing, just with slightly different steps. The same firmware files I use are what they reference. That being said I am by no means an expert. This is just what I have read and used from online forums that has worked for me while the DJI Go app firmware update process seems to have more issues. Not to mention you can't always downgrade through the DJI Go app for some reason.

Thank you for such a detailed video, but I still encountered a problem that I can't seem to find the solutions anywhere on the internet. I did everything you instructed in this video but when I tried to update the firmware on the drone, the flashing red and green lights (just above the camera) turned red instead of green. Also, I noticed that the gimbal became alarmingly hot so I turned the drone off. I turned back on again after 10 minutes, it seems to just continue to do the firmware update with the flashing red&green lights for about 2 minutes then it turns red again and the gimbal starts to overheat again. If you could take the time to reply and help me fix this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

great vid thanks for all of the imput and for being so detailed. sadly i was not able to fix my problem . i did both version, 1.05.7 and v1.6.8 , the wierd thing is that it never changed on my dji app. i hope im doing in wrong. but one thing that did happen was that when i check my sd card, it said my firmware was not allowing the downgrade... i will keep on trying to see if doing something wrong

It definately was the firmware, that must be why I got it so cheap as the previous owner must've got frustrated with the camera not connecting all the time..... Great video. I now have managed to re-install the newest firmware. And then re-establish the connection between the drone and the RC controller. Sadly, it still doesn't work--the "RC signal lost" error has changed to a "compass error" and warnings about "strong interference (never had those before the firmware update). Great tutorial, thanks for taking the time to help,others in need. My Phantom 3 was flying perfectly until I made the fatal mistake of doing the firmware upgrade recommended by DJI. I attempted to follow instructions you gave for doing the upgrade/downgrade but am unable to get micro SD card to eject from camera. It's first time I ever tried to eject it so very first time I realized it will no just eject when pushed in as I would expect it to. It's almost as if there is no spring back. Could you recommend help to try and remove my SD card so as to be able to attempt to do firmware upgrade so I can get back to flying my drone? Thanks in advance, Don

Let me say this is an awesome video, very useful to many people im sure. I have an issue that I can't seem to figure out. I crashed, tore the flat ribbon, replaced and reassembled-now I have a video feed but no gimble control. Doesn't do the gimble boogie on startup, and gives the notification "gimble gyroscope error" and "firmware problems ". I changed ribbon, micro boards on both axis, but still limp gimble. All the camera lights are green after the drone initializes... Any help would be much appreciated

Hi great videos really enjoy them. Wondered if you can help me. When I turn on my Phantom 3 standard the camera does its little movement thing then I get like a vibrating/grinding sound? It sounds like I may have sprained the mechanism but it also seems as though something is vibrating.Ever heard of this?. Another little issue I have is it seems no matter where I am I always seem to get the strong interference message popping up. I can be in the middle of nowhere and i still get the message. Any help would be great.

Richard Jones I have heard of issues like you describe for both things. I haven't seen any standard fix for either though. I'm not experienced enough to know what exactly causes each of the problems. Searching forums may help, but if that doesn't help it may be easiest to contact DJI support. Sadly, I hear that can be a frustrating process. I'm sorry I couldn't help but I wish you luck!
