What wasn't mentioned that's important to know, the P4P works best on 5.8Ghz AUTO for communications settings. Previous P3P worked great on 2.4Ghz. Then the P4 worked a crap with 2.4Ghz, mainly because of a weak RC (GL300C). If you use an Inspire controller (GL658A) with the P4 it worked great, like a P3P. With the P4P, it has similar signal integrity issues with 2.4Ghz, but if you use 5.8Ghz AUTO for your video channel, and you have clear LOS connection (no trees in the way) you can get over 5mi range when using a windsurfer (the original name for those devices) parabolic reflector (what Paul calls Tacos). It's more of a clamshell than a Taco. I think it's funny Paul uses food nicknames, I wonder why.

My phantom 4 pro can go about a mile now that I have the new controller with the display attached. My old controller had the problem it would only charge to 2 lights but would get better distance. The Mavic Pro will go farther and also have a good signal behind trees.

Always keep the antenna's PERPENDICULAR to the ground, vertical. When using the parabolic dish, you have learn to point it AT THE DRONE, all the time. It's best to use the RADAR screen in DJI GO4 app to know where the drone is, if you lose track of it.

I watched with a bit of criticism as I am a wireless communications professional after I noticed lots of videos posted by people who mislead their viewers, but you were spot on every answer. Also I loved the life advice about the Mind focus....it seems that you see the life a bit wider. Lots of antenna problems come from a bad coaxial cable from the remote PCB to the antenna PCB or popped connector due to a drop. Also the drone landing legs contain multiple antennae to ensure consistant signal when yaw, two antennae are for telemetry and control, at 5.8ghz and the other two for the video IP link on 2.4ghz, I am not familiar with the P4 pro. Also the narrow beam makes the pilot loose the signal when the remote with parabolic reflectors are not pointing at the drone and when the drone is too far. Bent reflectors will affect the beam.

I am having a odd problem, When my bird gets out to maximum range area, the drone signal begins to weaken and then the drone will flash different setting changes as if something is trying to change things. If its in sport mode, I will get flashes of position mode, it will flash back and forth from auto focus to manual focus, it will flash “Atti to large” when their are plenty of GPS signals, and it will make the gimbal “twitch”.. Can this be signal loss and interference signals making the drone try to do things that Im not doing... It seems also that It’s always near to the end of my signal range when these things start to happen. The oddest part is I have bought a Amplified antenna set up, to Strengthen my signal, but it had the opposite affect... It has cut my range in half when I use the amplified antenna “Raptor XR Panel with dual amplification box to increase power”.. It’s very frustrating and I have been trouble shooting the situation and im at my wits end.... Can anyone help me????

i have a vivatar skyview 360 drone and it worked great the last time i used it a year ago and now it wont fly higher than about 10 ft before putting itself on the ground and wont respond without turning it off than back on and will repeat the same behavior. new batteries in controller and drone battery fully charged. any ideas? i cant find this issue anywhere on the internet

I've gone thru 3 that did the same, tried everything and when I ask I just get the generic, point the antennas right or fly in an open area with no wifi interference or update the firmware but the first one I got worked perfectly but swapped it because I crashed it and now i keep getting duds

Do you have any feed back about weak signal for the Mavic Mini? I sometimes fly out to 3,000 feet, no problem then the next day I fly out from the same location and time and I cant fly past 1,000 feet without getting a weak signal message then the transmission cuts out. Can you help?

I found this video by searching for P4P losing GPS signal. I wonder if the caller had a gps issue and not actually a remote control issue. Remote control issues are pretty rare unless you're flying behind objects which were not supposed to do anyway

P4P is what he said and I’m also sure the Occusync was not standard until P4Pv2 ? Would like to know but guess I could check website! Also Rob what is that a booster of some sort on your Mac daddy controller ?

You are right, OcuSync wasn't on the P4P until VERSION 2, which has it's own set of problems, slowing getting worked out (normal DJI fashion, with customer beta testers). Ya gotta love it.

Try my 5.8Ghz AUTO tip first before sending it to DJI. If you have a friend with a P4P, try his RC linked to your drone. Then try your RC linked to his drone. See if you can isolate if the potential problem is with the drone, or the RC. If it's the RC, those are cheaper than a DJI bill, used ones are $150-$200 on Ebay. And if you're flying it on 2.4Ghz, you may not have a problem, just switch to 5.8Ghz.

Get a signal booster. It's like a can cut in half making the antennas signal go towards the drone. It's helped my video feed from being choppy and lagging out.
