The man is an English actor called Martin Jarvis. He's done a lot of radio and TV series over the years. An unmistakable voice. You might like to try and find him reading some of the Just William stories by Richmal Crompton. An absolute delight. Very funny.

Fantastic stuff! I always enjoy Martin Jarvis reading😊 I rebelled against reading Felix Francis since I loved his father's books so much and felt Felix couldn't possibly write any where near as well, I'm happy to be proved wrong, each is great in his own right and style I M H O😊 thanks for sharing and I will definitely be liking+listening for more❤

The narrator delivers considerable inflection of tone, very skilled actor - but that 'American' accent is making my eyes water.
@pennagainagain74913 жыл бұрын
Not half as bad as an American trying on a British accent.

They’re certainly not His specialty (regional accents are all-over the place), but that’s to be expected; I KNOW I sound hilarious trying to do any but My Own accent. …Glad to have this Reader, anyway; I like his voice and style. 😉☺️
@shelleymcafee81972 күн бұрын
Just reached the point in the story where He’s speaking to Mexican and Puerto Rican Co-Workers, and noticing that the issue is the Reader is unconciously doing ‘Charlie Chan’. 😂😉😄💗

l wish readers would just read in a normal voice ,without accents! would morgan freeman do accents?
@jasonwilkinson57572 жыл бұрын
Wouldn't it be nice, with all the bs everyone is enduring these days, to be able to enjoy a bit of audio distraction without being cleverly insulted? I guess I'll have to find another author to follow. Dick Francis is good; apparently Felix is just another coat tail jockey

Felix needs to learn something about the Glock and combat stance and grip with a handgun. It won’t take much time and the story will be better.

I liked all of the "Francis" books but don't enjoy the American accents done by British narrator. Had to stop after 20 minutes.
@djwinston063 жыл бұрын
Is this guy for real? Way to irritate half your audience by insulting and insinuating British superiority in all things to Americans. 🙄. I’m not even an American and it got old FAST!
@jenniferholden93973 жыл бұрын
I don’t know who is reading the part of the American cop but they shouldn’t give up their day job. It was awful.
@SemperFighting3 жыл бұрын
Oh good, it wasn't just me then. "In the UK.....but in the US," or "he's probably off to polish his Glock 22c and his expanding bullets." Got old very quickly. I really like Dic Francis' series book, so I won't give up on it just yet. Update: It's not bad if you can plug your nose through the American bashing and sarcastic comments throughout the book. The bashing tales off slightly towards the end . 🇺🇲🤙

@@jenniferholden9397 😂 I guess he does a pretty good job when you think it’s more than one individual. All voices for the story are done by the same person.👌

But we all prefer here in US to there in Europe, don’t we? They are so jealous , is all. We who are naturalized American citizens, would not be any where else. Reader’s mispronounced US place names are fun. 😂
@pennagainagain74913 жыл бұрын
Grow up, Janelle, and the others complaining about the opinions of the characters. The expressions are by FICTIONAL characters and very true to life - horse racing is a very competitive sport with much international name-calling back and forth ... just like Americans "irritate" the rest of the world by declaring (never mind insinuating) anything USA is best. Same problem with people criticizing the accents. Makes me wonder if you've ever listened to an audio book before - if you had you would have appreciated the excellent delivery by this reader for all the characters. Ever hear a New Yorker trying to talk like a Southerner???

Schoolboy standard at best and the narration is so wooden. Simply not in the league of Dick Francis. Yawn........

@pennagainagain74913 жыл бұрын
Correct. It is not a "Dick Francis" book. And you're not a great literary critic. It's a Felix Francis book. Enjoy the original story or drop it.
