I didn't know that any steam engine used an inside admission. I thought the reason for outside admission was that it helped seat and seal the slide. Having higher pressure in the inside, one would think, would open the valve and cause gas to escape to the exhaust. How interesting. Very well done video showing lots of detail that I would have missed. Thanks

Could it be that the engine is turned the wrong way relative to the operating settings? Easy museum mistake (someone maybe pulled the lever)Nice video though!

The low pressure cylinder usually operates at negative pressure, vacuum from condenser.

Ok I think I got it now, but I think the steam only went from the top of the piston, the from the down possition it had use the stored power, from other cylinders or the flywheel. That's my guess, maybe I don't see the hole mechanism

They have differing bores but how about the stroke, is it the same for each cylinder? Are they using mild steel piston rings or high zinc brass or bronze rings? Is that an efficient engine enough to bother making or is a double acting single piston as good?

Interesting, most triple expansion engine have the cylinders arranged from left to right or right to left: HP IP LP or LP IP HP. First time I saw one that's LP HP IP wonder why they made it that way.

That engine is definitely turning in the wrong direction. Propellers should turn clockwise.
