Triple Play: 3 New Foundation Paper Piecing Quilts with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star (Video Tutorial)

We have a new tradition here at Missouri Star: Triple Play! Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own, unique take on a favorite block, technique, or template. This week these talented Doan ladies are showing off three adorable quilts made with our Missouri Star 10" Paper Piecing Squares!
Misty's "Wanderlust" quilt is made with 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cake). Misty's fabric is Tea with Bea 10" Stackers by Katherine Lenius for Riley Blake, She also used 2 rolls of 2.5 inch strips (jelly rolls) and the Missouri Star 10" x 10" Square Ruler.
Natalie's "Skyward" quilt is made with the Missouri Star Small Periwinkle (Wacky Web) Template and 2.5 inch strips of precut fabric (jelly roll). Her fabric is "Tochi" by Debbie Maddy for Moda. She also used a handy dandy glue pen.
Jenny's "Candy Lane" quilt is made with 10 inch squares of precut fabric (layer cake). Jenny's fabric is Dewdrop by Windham Fabrics from Whistler Studios.

I never really see the value in using the papers but I always enjoy seeing you guys working and chatting. I would encourage all quilters to avoid the temptation to "nest". Movement is always the healthier choice. I actually keep my ironing/cutting station in another room and just chain piece whenever possible

On Jenny’s quilt, I think it would be nice to do the last corner piece of the block, that creates the center square when 4 blocks come together, a solid bold color that matches the border. I loved this quilt design and the colors. So much fun!

Love Natalie's quilt and the colors are awesome. I love the modern look. I love traditional quilts but this one, especially with the silver/gray and gold/yellow is the best more modern-looking pattern I have seen. It looks like something I could do. I think I would make a little more distinction in the blues but still love it as is, too. Great job.

All three are beautiful and I love that a person doesn't have to buy all the extras to make them. Your hints are superb!!! I think I can even do these with my favorite 1/2 inch seams. The blocks might be smaller but I think I can they would still be 10" blocks. I am excited to try these!!!
