I think this episode has shown us something that we’ve wanted to see in the series for years while giving us exactly what we’ve been complaining about for years all at the same time. And that’s quite an achievement, I must say...

This was a weird episode just because I didn't know how to feel about it. I did enjoy it, but I just felt kind of weird about it. However the ending made up for it big time, it was a great ending. And I do like that Spike is becoming more and more mature, although I'm still surprised that Spike was called by the map; that really surprised me. (Still hoping for the CMC's to get called). Also I loved that Ember made the joke about Starlight and Twilight seeming similiar, I thought it was hilarious. And Starlight was great in this episode, I loved her little comments that she did; so funny. Spike gets better and better with each episode/lesson he learns. Probably my third favorite Spike episode overall. Gauntlet of Fire, Times they are a Changeling and then now Triple Threat.

Book Lover guess that could happen(slightly because the power they used to defeat Tirek drained all his magic and the powers are practically the maps power, does it sound bizzare?, of course it does but that's all I came up with right now)

I knew that there was a chair for Spike, but I still didn't expect him to get called by the map. Didn't expect Starlight to get called either, but I'm fine with both being called. Hope we get the CMC's getting called. And if anyone says that they're too young, they can always bring one of the mane six or Starlight with them. So that they're not alone. Just something that I've wanted to see for a while.

Spike's worries made sense in the grand scheme of things; it may have been out there but it did make sense because of the possible bad blood that could have developed if things weren't done right.

Spike was... better in this episode. The problem was that, even when Twilight knew everything that was going, she didn't think to suggest introducing them? She went along with Spike the entire time trying to keep the two separate. Also, good to know that Changelings can definitely still shape-shift. Thank you, Thorax.

Here's my personal problem with Spike, he hasn't had much growth since season 1. Spike was always known as a "Baby Dragon", he slept out of a dog bed, he was short sighted, sometimes selfish, and read comic books. And now in season 7 he has his own bedroom, building blocks, a mobile, and still likes comics. We've never seen him explore being a "baby" or being a child, and we've never seen him being a competent individual (unlike the CMC, who are young like Spike and have had many chances to shine individually). The only other aspect to his personality was his crush on Rarity (which is a little hollow considering he's been a shell of a character) The MLP staff kept giving Spike these BIG events that they kept using to try and "define" Spike, "Saving" the Crystal Empire, and the Equestria Games. Both events were more circumstantial than actual defining moments. The real chances to shine come down to meaningful moments such as when Spike went to apologize to Thorax after he hurt his feelings, when Spike went to stand up to the Crystal Ponies to defend Throax, and when Spike handed off the staff to Ember. Spike needs more simple meaningful moments to shine, he needs to have more layers added to his character. Who is he besides a little selfish? A little short sighted? They've done a great job giving Applejack some more depth. Applejack is more set in her ways, more stubborn, far more traditional, doesn't want to stray from her path, (Hearthbreakers is the best example of this), and VERY over protective of Applebloom. They can give this same treatment to Spike, they can add layers, it's never too late. Explore why he doesn't have wings. Where his egg came from. Who are his dragon parents? Give him child-like activities to do. Give him time to hang out with the CMCs. Let him be a child. Or let him be an adult? Give Spike a direction and have him stick to it. (and while you're at it please have a lesson about moving on from old crushes and moving on to new. because every time i see sparity i want to die)

You know I thought for a moment this was mainly about why Spike was staying with Twilight, but you know what? I know why the writers are keeping him as a child, they want him to as someone little kids can relate to. The audience can be seen through Spike cause he's the one who is completely different from all the ponies around him. He already knows that he doesn't want to leave the Mane 6 cause they have been his family more than his own kind has.

I have a headcannon that only the changelings that were in the throne room to hear thorax's speech converted and, most of the rest followed Chrysalis. This episode mentioned some changelings and dragons that don't like their new leaders. I think that Chrysalis will use that to start revolutions and take over the kingdoms while they are weak. Then she'd invade Equestria with her new army.

What i like about this episode was when Starlight glimmer said "i like her already" to spike about Ember and when Ember, Thorax helping each other to become better leaders. I will also say didn't see the map coming into play with spike now that really turned up the heat for him. What i would say about this episode is it was good and it was nice to see spike finally getting role towards the future

The writers have always had a great role for Spike, they made him a hero of the crystal empire so that he would stop living in the shadow of the mane 6. If it wasn't for him Ember and Thorax never would've become great leaders, I'm really glad that the map called for him but i'm upset it was for something that he caused, next time it should be a problem outside of ponyville and he does everything he can to help them. Also Spike was acting like Twilight( cause Starlight said so) I had the sick feeling Thorax was going to hug both of them like he did at 4:21. I TOTALLY PREDICTED THAT! :)

I'm actually quite satisfied with the episode. Spike has changed a lot through the series with how he handles certain situations and he has matured in the episodes as well. I believe this episode shows how a certain may feel when two of their friends meet and they aren't complete sure how they would react. I have had this happen once or twice. And I am still a teen. But it doesn't just happen to teens, but also children and adults. But people learn something from another. That's what Ember and Thorax did. They realized that they both have a friend who cared about them, but they also learned that they both cared about Spike. Thorax learned how to be a little more assertive and Ember learned how to express her feelings. Both of these are what they had trouble with. I believe if Spike didn't do this or freak out the way he did, the situations of these two may not have came up. A dragon and changeling war would indeed be interesting. But i feel it may ruin the peace around Equestria as well with the different types of creatures that live there, ponies (Like celestia and Luna) who have a peace treaty with the Changelings and Dragons. It would cause discord around the land, but even then, i believe the leaders would also find a way to stop it. The episode was adorable overall and definitely showed a good lesson. I don't normally analyze anything, more of the coming up with theories in the past. But i do love hearing what may or may not happen in an episode. And this one was the episode that did that.

I really fail to see how Spike thought it'd go wrong, considering that Thorax and Ember are decently kind and reasonable... They're hardly Yaks, where Pinkie had to walk on eggshells, so I don't get why he was so cautious. I admit, I only just realised the connotations, or just remembered that Thorax's problem never got resolved... I'm excited to see if the evil changelings resurface, and if the dragons start to stop listening to Ember as well.

This was a pretty good episode, Dr. Wolf. It is clear there might still be some Changelings who remain loyal to Chrysalis, such as the ones who took the Mane Six and Royal Family's places, who refuse to accept the new way of life and complete their metamorphosis like Thorax and the majority of the Swarm have done, and those dragons, such as Garble, who might be hesitant to accept ponies as friends like Ember has. This sets up a lot of new ideas for future episodes and seasons. Who knows? Maybe Ember will help in hunting down Chrysalis once and for all now that she and Thorax are friends and allies.

We have already seen 2 civil wars within equestria for the ponies (the times when Sombra and Nightmare moon tried to take control of equestria) it would be fairly interesting to see a civil war break out between either the changelings or the dragons. (also, I totally ship thorax and ember :3 )

The first time I've seen the promo of the episode last week, I was pretty afraid that it would be as bad as "Princess Spike", "Owls Ends That Ends Well", and etc. But after seeing earlier today, I think it's a pretty good, well balance, and unique episode. My favorite part is where Ember and Thorax were bonding about their leading roles in their own species and I honestly like how they both care about Spike so much that they would do what they can to protect him. I could definitely see these three as an unique and enjoyable trio and I hope we could get to see more of these three interactions to one another, maybe have their own episode about them in the near future of the series. Overall, I think this is one of the best Spike Episodes I ever watched and enjoyed besides "Gauntlet of Fire", "Equestria Games", "The Times They Are a Changeling", and many others that are considered good.

Honestly it was a pretty damn solid, which is good cause it is important to be a solid episode when following up absolutely phenominal episodes like the last two we have had. Honestly considering that ember has only seen ponies a small handful of times it is probably hard for her to tell them apart. Which is adorable for tsundere dragon :P. Also it seems that the series is taking greater steps in having episodes more tied together. Episodes hinting at furture episodes and tying events together. Here it is forshadowing the episode involving the changelings later this season, and who knows, this episode may hint to more episode involving tsundere dragon too.

While this episode was a tad rushed, it was still pretty good, especially since it was a Spike episode. And I might be in the minority here, but I feel like Spike was right to assume things might go wrong if Ember and Thorax met. Sure, it backfired, but I still think he was in the right.

So... what's the 'triple threat' promised in the title? Is it just because Spike thought he was juggling three tasks, even though that became false? And it's not like some of the others couldn't have helped keep Ember and Thorax separate if they wanted to: what about Dash and Fluttershy respectively? Or Discord. I keep wanting to see him make new friends, and he already knows Thorax. Why keep it limited-cast? Also, more new pony designs keep getting introduced. If anything, I'd expect a slow trickle into and out of Ponyville as ponies move. It makes me wonder if the town hasn't become crowded, as to sometimes seems to function as a secondary capital.

I thought the episode was polarizing. The worst flaws for me were the dialog and spike. The dialog had moments where It felt unnatural like when Spike said "my worst fears are coming true!". Show not tell. Then spike, he is such a good voice of reason but whenever it comes to him solving problems it seems that he goes down the twilight path ,when in panic. The set up has been done before oh so many times but for what it was trying to do it did it pretty well. The end was unique and I loved ember and thorax talking with each other. It seemed one of the more natural moments in the episode. I would say that ember was overexagurated in this but, we haven't seen enough of her character. After all,the last time she was in a familiar territory in Gauntlet of fire. So meh,I'll buy it (plus her pointing out starlight and Twilight looking similar was really funny). Also is no one gonna address the fact that Thorax is dealing with the un-reformed changelings? That and the season opener may be hinting that "not everything is well in the changeling kingdom". We saw after all, that all it takes is one changeling deviating from the pack...

I'd say this episode is in the middle for me as it does have some cons. Like hearing about what type of leader's Ember and Thorax without really ever seeing them in their leadership roles. I actually thought Spike's fear was a bit odd. He's been around ponies like Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy who share some similarities to Thorax and Ember. Though I do think the fear of war aspect was more then enough of a good reason, though as you mentioned it should have had some lead up in the start or in earlier episodes.I thought the parts were there keeping them separate were mediocre at best.

I wish Spike could get new design. He seems so small compared to Ember. Baby Cakes and CMC should get new designs too. At least give Spike wings, him earning them would make a great arc. But in any case an liked the episode and did not mind the plot even though usually I am not a fan of those kind of things. I think people just need to accept it's in Spike's character to act like this when pushed to a role where he needs to make choices. We can't dismiss all his starting roles as out if character, this is just a part who he is. And I did see this as Spike's future role after seeing Gauntlet of Fire. Clearly he loves being Twilight's assistant so he isn't leaving so since she is the princess of Friendshio him playing a part with the dragons is only natural.

Honestly, this episode reminded me too much of Party Pooped in that it started with a problem that has an obvious solution, but the characters decided to do the opposite and make it worse throughout the episode. At least on Party Pooped, somepony actually realized the solution and did something about it. In this case, Spike was meant to solve the problem and he did by doing absolutely nothing. Okay, he did apologized to them which is what solved the problem, but did the Map really need to call Spike just to warn him that he created a problem and now needs to apologize for it? All in all, the episode was fun to watch though, and I really like that they keep expanding the Map's potential. So far, it seems that the Map really is limited to those who are friends with the Princess of Friendship. I'm hoping to see more of that.

I'm still interested in an idea of something big happening that leads to the Ponies getting help from the new Changelings, the Dragons, and the Yaks, maybe even Starlight's old village. I enjoyed that they put Spike in a believable place in the episode to create the conflicts that we get out of this episode. The way he handles things isn't in a selfish way, but rather he's trying to do some good and keep his two best friends from causing a scene or even worse down the line. The fact that the map was included as well made me feel like it actually knows when the mane six as well as even Starlight and now Spike need a lesson of their own thrown in with their missions, giving the map a much deeper meaning to me. I do feel as though the episode could be predictable at times but...I was looking forward to those points because they were done so well. I honestly thought it was going to take much more to make the two of them friends in the end but I was very well surprised by how it turned out. The fact that they were both having leadership problems surrounding friendship made it believable that they would start to form a bond. And come on! Who could hate their passive aggressiveness pointed at Spike there at the end?

I agree about Spike and actually related to him here. I think Spike's scales glowing for the map is related to the glowing scales of the dragon lord call in the ep where Spike met Ember. It may be part of how a dragon's magic is expressed like how a cutie mark is how a pony's magic is expressed.

You can't really blame Spike for his choice to keep Ember and Thorax apart. Even though there was no bad blood between changelings and dragons there could have been that Spike and the others were unaware of. Thorax didn't tell Spike what he wanted to discuss with him about till after he arrived so there was no way he could have known at the time both rulers would have been able to help one another be better rulers and bond over that. In Party Pooped, the ponies expected the Yaks' visit to show them kindness and make friends with them, but it almost resulted in a war. So we can't assume that thinking everything would work out perfectly could be assuming too much either. Ember and Thorax could claim that they would have gotten along, but they can easily after the fact. In Look Before You Sleep, Applejack and Ratity agreed to get along for Twilight's first slumber party, but they ended up fighting over everything anyway. So if things hadn't gone as they had the same end result might not have happened. On a flip to things, Spike could have introduced them and things could have gone bad and reached a boiling point of both of them on the verge of war. So it could be that things might have had the best end result for all three of their friendships the way the episode played out.

Crazy Luigi It is easy for the viewers to see and predict a cliched plot, but for the characters in the midst of a stressful situation, they aren't likely to see or care if what they are doing is cliche in the moment. We should just try to enjoy the ride cause we've all been under pressure before and didn't act so gracefully. As for the mixup of Twilight and Starlight, that may have been better just confusing their names, mistaking them for one another, calling them "Twilight Glimmer" and "Starlight Sparkle" or even "Sunset Shimmer" or something like that. Their looks do have many similarities, but there should be enough degree in difference to tell them apart.

I hear you on that, David. That was why I was looking into the episode more in the mind of what's going to happen over how it's going to play out, especially since the episode's description kind of spoiled the general idea of how the story would play out otherwise (although I'd be lying if I said it didn't throw any surprises along the way anyways). As for my previous bit with her saying that line, I feel you there completely, but like I said, something tells me I likely wouldn't even view it as an issue if it weren't for the week we had in real life between the protesting / riots in Charlottesville and that shit that went down in Spain also. Sorry to derail this shit with politics, by the way.

This episode is predictable, but I love the ending of Thorax and Ember talking it out and becoming friends. This actually follows a trend of episodes being rather cliche'd or having annoying elements but also having a really fantastic section of focus on a couple characters. Brotherhoove's Social did this with the tired "guy in drag" joke, but also had the fantastic big brother speech from Big Mac at the end. Rock Solid Friendship and Gift of Maud Pie had Pinkie being annoying, but also had an excellent developing friendship with Starlight and good comedy, plus hilarious and charming moments with Rarity, respectively.

I both loved and hated this episode. I liked it because of the positives of what you mentioned, but I hate this because Spike's character reverted back to the Spike of the ep "Princess Spike". He creates a problem that he has to fix and to make it worse, he didn't even fix the problem. The conflict was resolved by Ember and Thorax alone. The reason why this is bothering me is because Spike helped those two characters in their time of need and showed them what kind of character he is. When he makes a mistake like that in the presence of those he helped, he damages his standing with them. The episode would have been better if what Spike feared, actually happened and Thorax and Ember clashed over some unknown Changeling vs Dragon conflict. Spike would now have to get his two friends to see a common ground of acceptance and have them be friends, or at least try. This could lead to some bigger issues like Torch finding out about this acceptance against their enemies and possibly start a war, or the beginning of one. Another issue in this ep is that the map has called on the mane 6 and even Starlight on issues that happened outside of their control, while the map calls on Spike for an issue that HE caused. Also I feel that Twilight would have or should have came up with a plan to help Spike, instead of just following his lead. We all know how smart she is and how good she is at planning, plush she is the princess of friendship, I feel that she would want to try to help Spike get his friends to be friends with each other.

Predictions: Because the changelings and dragons both have subjects that like the old way, what if there was a massive civil war. Both species have a person that believes they should lead and keep the old way. Chrysalis with the changelings and goyle with the dragons. They team up realizing they have a better chance of winnings together. They first defeat the reformed changelings and then on the way to fight the new dragons, chrysalis and her changelings ditch/take them as prisoner in her new kingdom. When the dragons try to negotiate and explain how betrayal is not right, they realize that that's exactly what they're doing to their own kind and have a character arc, with help from a few conversations with some captured reformed changelings. Ember teams up with the ponies after hearing about thorax to go on a rescue mission. She decides to also save goyle and his dragons when she realizes that a good leader should care for all of her subjects. Then the ponies try to settle the dispute with chrysalis with a lessen of tolerating and compromising people with different views.

I thought the episode was pretty standard......until the scene between Thorax and Ember. That character building made me like the episode more than the first 15 minutes did. Still, fun episode overall. I'm very intrigued to see if those tidbits of info we learned will lead to a potential story-line in the future (namely Chrysalis's revenge :D :D :D :D)

okay to be fair Starlight and Twilight are acting just as stupid as Spike and its honestly worse for them since Spike's like what at most 10 years old and both of them are full grown mares, not to mention one is the princess of Friendship while the other is a fully graduated student of friendship so really out of the three of them who was really acting dumb?the little baby dragon who normally stays home during all the friendship missions and tends to act similar to Twilight as they both think of the worst out come as the only outcome or the officially titled princess of friendship along with her former student both of whom did nothing to help....wait.....oh, God no...... Twilight's becoming Celestia! ....honestly it would of made more sense if Twilight knew what was going to happen, but chose to play along with Spike's Idea of the situation just to let him learn the lesson?

I see quite a bit of "Luna Eclipsed" and "Celestial Advice" in this episode. Much like how everypony in Ponyville took time to get used to Luna and how she slowly changed to become more friendly, the same pretty much happened with Ember here. As for Spike, he lets his short-sightedness, paranoia, and naivety get in the way of finding a simple solution to a rather easy problem, much like how Twilight behaved when deciding what to do with Starlight. This episode was predictable, sure, but given how underdeveloped Thorax and Ember were, I never knew EXACTLY where things would go. I definitely didn't expect the two to meet up in private and talk things over, which by the way, made for an interesting scene. I can totally see Thorax and Ember tutoring each other about their respective duties, and I think that's a great way to unite the changeling and dragon cultures. Thorax and Ember also have some pretty good chemistry between them, and they really bring out more of each other's personalities, which is great to see (let the new shipping begin). Spike definitely wasn't at his best here, as he normally isn't whenever he's in the starting role, but at least his heart was in the right place, as Dr. Wolf said. Much like how Fluttershy took her time to progress into a more assertive role, I see Spike taking his time to progress into a much more matured role. This episode was just another small step for him. I'm just hoping that his lessons and experiences all add up and pay off, with him going through an ultimate change, inside and out, which I'm sure the show staff is probably saving for the series finale. Again, I see much of the same problem that "Celestial Advice" tried to resolve. My main problem with that episode was Twilight letting her own fears and short-sightedness prevent her from making a final decision on what she should do with Starlight. Here, the same kind of problem is brought up, but at least the fear becomes real and is dealt with. The lesson, despite being easily predicted, was a good one that I was surprised Twilight didn't learn in "Celestial Advice." Don't worry about what could go wrong, and focus on what could go right. Some small things I liked were Ember constantly getting Twilight and Starlight confused, cameos from Lyra, Bon Bon, and Derpy, and seeing Spike getting summoned to the Cutie Map. For the latter, it's interesting to see a non-pony get a calling, which could mean that not only could anypony be called to the map, but any non-pony creature could be called there as well! It'd be interesting to see where that could lead to. Overall, I liked this one, mainly for the return of Thorax and Ember, who turn out to play off each other very well. Spike was a bit of a letdown, but not as much as he used to be in the past. Combine that with pretty good humor, and you've got an okay episode.

While not the best Spike episode, I'd definitely call it good. Spike's short-sightedness may come off as tiring and predictable to some, but in this episode, it resulted in something good. We got some good development between Ember and Thorax and we get to see hints at potential stories for future episodes (one of which, "To Change a Changeling", is due out later this season). So, all in all, it's an episode I look forward to coming back to.

It seems like they're foreshadowing future episodes more blatantly now, because, in the previous episode, there was an obvious reference to the upcoming episode "Marks and Recreation", then in this episode, they reference "To Change a Changeling" or whatever that upcoming episode with Thorax's brother is called.

It was'nt a perfect episode, but it was pretty good. Spike's fears are completely justified here as we know that most of the dragons he's met aside from Ember are jerks, and we now have confirmation that not all changelings have sided with Thorax, which means the two sides could clash.

I don't know... I wouldn't say Spike is short sighted, more anxious with a wild imagination. He can often overreact to situations with simple solutions, blowing them out of proportion and imagine the absolute worst possibility even if it is rather unlikely. This kind of behavior is common with anyone who suffers from anxiety or a panic disorder similar to Fluttershy in the early seasons. Now to be clear this isn't to be confused with being shy, anxiety and being shy couldn't be more different. Spike's clearly not shy, but when faced with a decision, or challenge he tends to react similar to someone who suffers from anxiety becoming extremely stressed, the more pressure as well the worse it gets. I say all this from experience. That said at any point of time Twilight or Starlight could have stepped in and seen Spike was overreacting, Twilight specifically. She's used to his behavior more then anyone and has been known to notice it in the past, but in this case instead added to his anxiety by going along with his frantic plan, rather then helping him and giving him advice as the "Princess of Friendship" should do. This was after all a friendship issue, you'd figure she would have stepped in and helped Spike or at least talked with him more about it. The staff could have worked this episode so much better while still retaining the conflict and centering it around Spike without losing the run time or having the characters suffer on its behalf. Definitely one of my least favorite episodes so far this season. It was also generally boring to watch, as you said, too predictable.

This just shows that Spike has had zero character development in 7 seasons. He makes the same, juvenile, mistakes that he makes in earlier episodes (as you point out yourself). Yes, he may worry about a potential clash between Changelings and Dragons. But considering that both Thorax and Ember are his friends, even in his worst-case scenario, he could serve as a buffer between them. The map bit was totally unnecessary, since Spike created the Friendship Problem in the first place. The lore we got about a renegade group of Changelings is intriguing (since Chrysalis will return at the end of the season), and we already knew that Ember's line of thinking was at odds with the majority of Dragons. Really, this serves as more of a build towards the so-called "Starlight Six" that may potentially have to save the world from Chrysalis (again) than anything having to do with Spike. Spike is a side character, and until they physically grow and age him (an opportunity they missed with "Gauntlet of Fire"), the writers should stop trying to force him into a main role.

I finished the episode and just sat staring into the distance, my mind trying to comprehend how MLP took an episode with a forced and easily-resolvable conflict and still made a really good episode. I think the biggest thing that helped was the fact that Thorax and Ember didn't require the aid of a Main Character to help them solve their conflicts. They were able to figure out what they needed without Spike, and I think that's cool. (Of course, it does make the Map part a little weird. Why would it tell him to solve the problem if they solved it themselves?)

I was not a fan of Spike regressing in character after the previous season seemed to FINALLY give him those long overdue focus episodes where he wasn't the source of the conflict or being so irrational and childish that he was avoiding the solution. I'm especially disappointed that Lewis and Songco as editors approved of this script, when they were responsible for writing "Gauntlet of Fire" which is what kickstarted Spike's excellent character growth last season, they should've known better and been willing to put their foot down and demand Spike get treated better.

It's a great episode for me. While I do agree that the cringe comedy was unnecessary, it doesn't ruin the overall experience of the episode. The problem I see with the mixed reception on the episode is that people think that Spike was regressed back to his Season 1 portrayal. But i have a counter argument for this issue: You can't expect these characters to remember every mistake in a episode that was about them previously. If all these characters were to remember every single mistake they made from previous episodes, they wouldn't have flaws to them and they would be just be reduced to being perfect and then we lose all interest in them.

I honestly felt like the map thing came out of nowhere and came because the plot demanded it. Honestly the map could've been cut out from the quite honestly. All that came from it was Spike looking for a problem only to realize the problem was what he started. And the map calling Spike wouldn't be bad in concept but here it felt unneeded here. Part of the reason is I think time could've been better used to actually justify why Spike would think things would go downhill especially since they easily had a set up where there could be justification such as racism between the species especially since the changelings old deceptive nature and dragons violent aggressive nature could've justified that. Otherwise the episode is decent it's great to see Ember and Thorax back and the problem they have being leaders is actually a great plot. Part of the reason I didn't like how they handled Thorax being the leader was because nothing in his character seems leadership material and that seems that it's going to address that so I'm happy about that.

Well, in terms of futures, they'll resolve the Thorax issue in a future episode, but not Ember's this season. And who can blame the dragons for not being acceptable of 'friendship', as that might mean sharing hordes or making small talk, when they just want to rumble and isolate themselves in their caves now and then. The fact Spike hasn't grown even a inch for the past few seasons after his growth squirt makes me wonder if he's growing mentally to think up such things. I do feel sorry for Derpy though.

I honestly couldn't watch this episode all the way through. I watched the very beginning before the Map incident and the very end. My biggest pet peeve in life is when assumptions are made and when Spike acts likes this, it really makes me cringe. What I did like this episode was that ending though and the fact that both Thorax and Ember called Spike out on his mistake. Spike himself said it, "I was so focused on what could go wrong, that I didn't think about what could go right." THAT right there is why I believe one should never assume ANYTHING because you have tunnel vision and are more likely to make mistakes. I don't know if this episode is as bad as Honest Apple, but it's definitely done there.

While I wanted to facepalm a couple of times too, to be completely fair to Spike though, neither Twilight nor Starlight realized what the problem was either. They were adding onto the problem by confirming Spike's fears that Ember and Thorax would probably not like each other, and that trying to keep them apart would be a good idea. If not even them (especially Twi) saw what the friendship problem was, then blaming Spike for being an idiot isn't fair. Twilight and Starlight would be idiots as well. Also, this episode showed something every interesting about Spike's character, since he was doing basically the same thing Twilight did back in this season's 1st episode (Celestial Advice), which shows Spike being a worrywart is the result of his upbringing by Twilight. This makes sense. He was raised by her, so its only natural that he acted like she does in that situation.

Considering that Chrysalis has escaped it is quite possible that perhaps in the future, she might reach out to the renegade changelings (assuming that Thorax couldn't reason with them) and recruit them to try and take over Equestria once more. Except that this time, it's possible that their attack might be far greater than the past two attempts so the ponies will need to request the help of the dragons, but in doing so, might be faced with the challenge of finding who would like to help since part of the dragons are not at all interested in friendship and thus, will not give a damn about obeying Ember and helping the ponies of Equestria. That would be an interesting thing to see and would fit the idea of a conflict between dragons and changelings.

It is really weird. I liked this episode, but I see Spike as being the weakest character of the bunch, which is a shame considering it was a Spike episode. His interactions with Thorax and Ember just seemed much less interesting and, at times, frustrating, while Twilight and Starlight's interactions with them was much better. In fact, from this episode I really would like to see more interactions between Thorax, Ember, Starlight, and Twilight; which once again is a massive shame since Spike is the one who is supposed to be more closely associated with the first two.

I REALLY wanted to put this episode on my Top 20 Favorite MLP FiM Episodes list, but with Spike being an idiot kinda weighs it down to just being an honorable mention! I still like this episode for bringing in Thorax and Ember into the main focus! But with Spike overreacting to the prediction of the two not getting along is my only main issue with the episode. Spike had better main appearances in Season 6 such as "Gaulent of Fire" and "The Times They Are a Changeling". This is certain not one of his worst appearances, but Spike should've known better to not overreact to two different races not getting along. What really saves the episode to being just an honorable mention on my Top 20 list is Ember and especially Thorax! I mean, all of the moments that feature the two were fun, entertaining, and actually done very nicely! Thorax in this episode is such a delight for showcasing an adorable curiousity to him whenever he is on screen! I just chuckle at the little moments of Thorax doing random stuff, such as excitedly getting invested in looking at a flame, Thorax getting comfortable in a seat, lightly slamming his face on a table, and how he takes rejection not too seriously and not get too upset about it! Also, Thorax being assertive doesn't change the fact that he's still a loveable dork! Despite getting the advice to be more stern at times doesn't get rid of the chore of Thorax's character of being a cinnamon roll! I honestly like seeing him angry! Even the nicest of characters aren't goodie-two shoes, and do have moments where they express the emotion of anger! Ember in this episode was also great, I actually like the joke where she confuses Starlight with Twilight! I know some might say this might be a dumb excuse, but I can certainly see why this joke was in the episode. Both Twilight and Starlight do have similar features to one another that I can understand where Ember is coming from here. Little moments I like from Ember are when she smudges a muffin on a wall for Derpy to give a hilarious effect reaction, and how she is "allergic" to feelings. I laughed on how ridiculous that line was after she sneezed fire onto Thorax...! Twilight and Starlight's roles weren't big, but they were very nice to keep Thorax and Ember company! Overall, I do think this episode could've been better if it was about Thorax and Ember themselves, but I'm one of the many people who do like this episode! But, I do agree that Spike's overreacting was pretty dumb. Thorax, Ember, and their moments alone is what sells the episode to being a great one! No wonder this episode started a new ship within the fandom between Thorax and Ember, and to be honest, they are adorable together being polar opposites and work off of each other very nicely! The most of the characters throughout were nicely done! Twilight and Starlight are nice side characters, Ember was great, and Thorax is at his best of being the precious cinnamon roll he is! If this episode was about Thorax and Ember alone with how they can work off their relationship with each other and strengthen their relationship with Spike, I would've called this episode one of my favorites! But other than Spike being an overreacting idiot, I still really like this episode!

I actually went in with low expectations And figured I'd enjoy it if it just told some good jokes. Oddly enough made it work Which is funny when you consider the last epsidoe ^^

While this episode wasn't as bad as many past Spike episodes, it was still pretty bad. I liked the stuff with Ember and Thorax, but Spike's actions were pretty juvenile. Also, why didn't Starlight or Twilight point out that Twilight has wings and Starlight doesn't? Are her wings invisible or something?

The only problem with this episode was that the conflict was forced.

I have mixed feelings. On one hand this episode is one of the funniest episodes to come out in a while. On the other hand the plot is weak (especially compared to the 3 previous episodes), the episode has quite a bit of cringe comedy, amd spike being called by the map was thoroughly pulled out of the writer's ass (also he is called by the map to solve his own friendship problem which would work if their was indication that it could do that). Overall it is not a bad episode (Princess Spike and especially Dragon Quest with its million unfortunat implications were way worse) but it is no Secret of my Excess or Equestria Games. Spike is a good and likeable character, it's just that his plots are typically badly written around his character faults like him being kinda selfish. Also wasn't being a drama queen kind of Rarity's thing.

we could even ascribe elements of harmony to them [yes even to discord cause belive it or not, dispite his zany nature he is in his own way very kind and careing, i mean he almost killed himself for flutershys sake for crying out loud] discord: kindness thorax: honesty [ironic yes] spike: generosity ember: loyalty trixie: laughter and starlight would be magic.

Prysm Kitsune I think it's more like Discord: Laughter (there's a reason he's so popular...) Spike: Loyalty (to quote Littleshy: "This is the Element of Loyalty we're talking about, I would think Spike would be an even better candidate.") Ember: Generosity (After all, she is willing and trying to make friendships with ponies, it's pretty clear that's not normal for dragons) Thorax: Kindness (It's pretty much what made him different from the other changelings in the first place) Trixie: Honesty (I feel like this is basically what her character is working towards: being more honest with herself and not blaming others for her own mistakes) Starlight Glimmer: Magic

i thought about that pattern too but i wasn't sure about ember, on the one hand...yeah i can see it but on the other hoof....dragon=greedy then again....the actual 'cannon' element of generosity has been known to be incredibly selfish on occasion sooooo....i suppose it could work. as to why discord is so popular i have to agree with silver quill, dalancy is the mighty god of entertainment and we must all worship him...i have to wonder if he actually enjoys doing discord for the show...theres a good deal of emotion there but good actors can truly despise there roles and still put on a good show.

also saying what i just did about dalancy made me realize, mlp has gotten 2 of the greats from star trek to voice characters in the show...shatner and dalancy...now if they can just manage to rope in Patrick Stewart...hes shown hes not above kids show roles he was in a Muppet Christmas Carrol right

what stuck out to me was something really small & that was Ember sitting next to Thorax, is it me, or should she not sit on all 4, but instead like a human?
