I remember listening to this song at 17 years old, and now at age 25, it seems so much more haunting and beautifully written than I could grasp then. Man, Deja Entendu was a good album.

First 3 albums are great. I didn't like daisy too much so I haven't listened to their last 2. Are they any good?
@kakashi3923 жыл бұрын
@@robertcook6579 Science Fiction is my favorite of theirs. It's a culmination of all their years of practice into one cohesive album. They put so much care & detail into the album that you can listen for each time. Everyone has their moments to shine and IMO Jesse's singing is the best it can be. The atmosphere is perfectly crafted from the album cover to the last track. It's such a good album to smoke too if you like Brand New.

Something happens to me when they sing "calm me and let me taste the salt you breathed while you were underneath; I am the one who haunts your dreams of mountains, sunk below the sea." I don't know why. Every time.

Yeah that's right One, two, three One, two One One... We sent out the SOS call It was a quarter past four In the morning When the storm broke our second anchor line Four months at sea Four months of calm seas To be pounded in the shallows off The tip of Montauk Point They call them rogues They travel fast and alone One hundred foot faces Of God's good ocean gone wrong What they call love is a risk You'll always get hit Out of nowhere By some wave and end up on your own The hole in the hull defied the crews attempts To bail us out And flooded the engines and radio And half buried bow Your tongue is a rudder It steers the whole ship Sends your words past your lips Or keeps them safe behind your teeth But the wrong words will strand you Come off course while you sleep Sweep your boat out to sea Or dash to bits on the reef The vessel groans The ocean pressures its frame To the port I see the lighthouse Through the sleet and the rain And I wish for one more day To give my love and repay debts But the morning finds our bodies Washed up thirty miles west They say that the captain Stays fast with the ship Through still and storm But this ain't the Dakota The water's cold (so cold) Won't have to fight for long This story's old (this is the end) But it goes on and on Until we disappear (this is the calm) Calm me and let me taste (this is the calm) The salt you breathed While you were underneath (We are the resin) I am the one who haunts your (we are the resin) Dreams of mountains Sunk below the sea (after the storm) I spoke the words but never (after the storm) Gave a thought to what they all could mean (Rest here with me) I know that this (rest in the deep) is what you want A funeral keeps both of us apart (Washed up on the beach) You know that you are not alone (Washed up on the beach) I need you like water in my lungs (this is the end) This story's old (this is the end) But it goes on and on Until we disappear (this is the calm) Calm me and let me taste (this is the calm) The salt you breathed While you were underneath (We are the resin) I am the one who haunts your (we are the resin) Dreams of mountains Sunk below the sea (after the storm) I spoke the words but never (after the storm) Gave a thought to what they all could mean (Rest here with me) I know that this (rest in the deep) is what you want A funeral keeps both of us apart (Washed up on the beach) You know that you are not alone (Washed up on the beach) I need you like water in my lungs (this is the end)

This, The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot, and Jesus Christ have gotta be three of the saddest songs ever. I guess it probably says something about my mental state that I'm listening to them on repeat, especially this one. Man. I wish she would feel the way I do.

I hope all is well now, but you can wish and hope till your last breath or you can go out there and find the people that matter enough to care about you in return. Wish and hope in one hand and shit in the other, see which one fills up faster.

thank you again sir or miss, and it should also be noted that i dont know what your * refers to, because when i wrote 'have took' i did not include an *. The way you are denoting your corrections is typically when i say like "FREE BEER*" and then *beer not free. so thanks again for being so helpful to us all, but i think you should find a different way of doing it, because * is not correct footnote or endnote style. cheers:)

awww, so mean. i hate when people like you exist. a guy says a song is poetic and you for some reason, find the need to say they dont read much poetry. did that make you feel good when you wrote it? did it make you feel big to suggest to someone that brand new isnt Yeates? is that what you get off on? what good did you do the world by saying to a person who "hearts" this, that they need to read more? so tragic that u type in this world :( cheers
@Arbiter56712 жыл бұрын
I may commit suicide to this. "Need you like water in my lungs" truthfully and completely describes many individuals I know and thus the life I live.
Mkay, I started to write an aggro response but I deleted it because seriously, what the fuck. I don't care how you spell things, and I called you out because I was bored at the time. Honestly wasn't trying to troll, though. Trolls roll up to conversations and say ridiculous shit to prompt a response, and that wasn't my intention, and I'm sorry if I came off that way. Frankly, if you like Play Crack The Sky, you're the shit. You don't need to write paragraphs to prove it. Stay trill, sister.
@TearsAmongAshes12 жыл бұрын
Writing poorly crafted paragraphs kind of negates everything you're trying to communicate. I mean, "of which i had no real opinion of"? Seriously? Also, there seems to be an epidemic of kids who clearly don't understand what "trolling" is. Le sad.
