​@@snorps7635 No, the knight is the most simple piece to code actually. The sliding pieces are much harder, they depend on other pieces on their path. And the hardest piece to code is the pawn, especially if en pasant is allowed...

En passant chess You are allowed to capture any piece en passant with any piece. To do this, move your piece to any square your opponent's piece just passed through. You can then remove the opponent's piece. (Here pieces also include pawns.) Regular captures are still allowed, and you can still make a regular move without capturing, even if the same move could be used to capture a piece en passant. The first player to checkmate their opponent wins.

I had an idea for a 6x6 variant where white's pieces are in this order (from left to right): Knight, Bishop, Rook, King, Bishop, Knight (mirror that setup for black). There are no Queens, and Pawns can only promote to Knights, Bishops or Rooks. Pawns don't have an initial two step move option, en passant isn't allowed, and there is no castling. Idk if anyone has already made a variant like this, but if there isn't a name for it already, I'd like to call this variant "Haroldian Six by Six"
