Wow, another killer lesson. As a member for almost 4 years, I HIGHLY recommend David's Fingerstyle Five membership. As a world-class player and teacher he has an answer for any issue you might have trying to learn this style. At first, it feels awkward getting your fingers and thumb to work independently and together but he has lots of tips to make them do so using slow, easy to understand techniques. As you can see and hear, he's got GROOVE for days and I love listening, learning and playing walking bass lines over moving chords and/or melody lines. If you'd like doing the same, check out this month's lessons and ALL the ones he's ever done inside the membership. It's an addicting style to learn and play and thanks to David I can't stop. An intervention would be useless. Did I mention it's FUN. YOU can do it. Give him a try.......you're welcome.

I love your lessons. I am a FF member and am going through your Truefire lessons. Great teaching approach! I started my music journey on saxophone as a youth. Around 40 started playing mandolin and bluegrass, next upright bass, then traded one of my upright bass for a guitar. Decided I wanted to learn fingerstyle so I researched the learning methods online and chose your courses. My current acoustic guitar is a 15+ year old Bourgeois Slope D(traded upright bass for it). It's a great playing and sounding instrument, but I am 69 years old and my hands are feeling it. Ive played shorter scale guitars and have decided that I need to play a shorter scale guitar most of the time if I want to play for an hour or more a day. I am searching for a short scale guitar. My question isn't about brands or anything like that. To me, all instruments sound great when played by advanced players. My question is more about whether for this style is a guitar that is more articulate across all strings better or a guitar that has a broader voice when playing each string. I don't sing yet while I am playing so its just me an my guitar. My thought is I want a more articulate short scale guitar(for my hands) especially for the lows and mids, but wanted your thoughts since I am new to playing this style.
