This video only showed her long distance shooting or logo 3s as they call them. She is actually a brilliant passer. For perspective... she is averaging 8.8 assist per game this season as a rookie. She has already has broken the record for assists in a season for a rookie with several games left to play. Her current average of 8.8 APG is better than the best single-season assist leader ever, who had an average of 7.9 for a single season. She can also take it to the basket. Fun to watch!
@IdkMaybeShawn5 ай бұрын
she actually hasn't shot the ball all that well at the wnba level but her playmaking has been incredible. She legit looks like prime Steve Nash running the break and the Pace-and-Space offense. Not sure if the shooting is just her being cold or if she needs to reign in the difficulty a bit against pro-level defenders or what, but she's gonna be a great one regardless of what happens with her shot because she's arguably already the best playmaker in the league.
@stanleymyrick40685 ай бұрын
@@IdkMaybeShawn She is averaging about 17 or 18 a game. But her shot has cooled off a little. I think it's been the non-stop basketball (entire college season directly into the WNBA season). This olympic break helped. Over the two games since, she is averaging 23 pts I think. A little better.
@IdkMaybeShawn5 ай бұрын
@@stanleymyrick4068 it's really just the three point percentages I'm talking about. She has been great going to the basket and even in the mid range (seems like she shoots 95% inside the arc sometimes lmao). But she takes a ton of threes and they're not really going in, especially the deep ones on the move which is really what got her noticed in the first place. Maybe it'll pick back up or maybe not. Maybe WNBA defenders are able to stay just a *little bit* closer and thus these shots are not as wide open as they were in college. Or maybe she is just cold. Who knows.

Exactly. Look up videos from Venom Reacts. He breaks down just how intelligent she is on the court. He has a saying, "When Caitlin attacks, the defenses collapse". She is like Larry Bird out there. Those Logo threes set up her passing and layups. If you guard her close, she is going to put you in a spin cycle and blow right past you to the rim. If you double or triple team her, she will find the open women for the easy shot. If you give her space, she will splash a three. She is clutch too.
@Rowgue514 ай бұрын
The fact that the other team has to respect her shot, regardless of where she is on the floor, is what opens up all the other stuff though. Her 3pt shooting ability is definitely the key to her entire game.
@mprice66834 ай бұрын
@@Rowgue51 People are focusing on her 3pt shooting percentage and turnovers, which is ridiculous. She came right from the NCAA Finals into the WNBA season. Men have the entire summer and beginning of fall to train and get up to speed with the NBA, and most didn't just come from the finals. She will work on her shooting and it will be at a higher percentage next year. Her team will be able to understand where she is going to pass to and her turnovers will lower. What she really needs to work on is her defense. Watch the first game and compare it to her footwork in this last game. She is learning and improving dramatically.

She's now the best passer in the WNBA. She recently broke the single-game record for assists in a game, 19, against the Dallas Wings. And just in the last few days, she broke the rookie mark for assists in a season, passing Ticha Penicheiro's previous record that was set in 1998 by dishing out her 225th assist. And she did it in two less games. And there are still a dozen games left. You might like to check out her passing highlights because she's like an NFL quarterback, throwing the ball across-court to where her teammates are going to be if they keep running top speed. There are numerous videos of Caitlin's high school highlights. She was Gatorade National Player of the Year after averaging 32.6 points per game as a junior. Her defining high school game came late that season at Mason City, where she made a state-record 13 3-pointers, on 17 attempts, and scored 60 points, one off the state record. The assistant coach at Iowa first scouted Caitlin when she was in sixth grade. The 'overrated' video shows the opposition team's fans yelling "...overrated..." from the stands, then getting really quiet after Caitlin starts blowing the other team away. You might think the high-school highlights are impressive. She has grade-school highlights that show she was doing this in grade school. Various videos can be seen by searching for '8th grade.' Back to shooting, you might find it fun to see how Caitlin would be called on to make a shot, with the shot clock down to seconds, to break a tie game and win. Search for 'buzzer beater.' One last suggestion is the most insane shot i've ever seen. She was in the corner, virtually at half court. She was fouled by her defender, but Caitlin made the shot anyway, but didn't even wait to see it go in; she complained to the ref that she was fouled. Search for 'Caitlin Clark hits bonkers shot that didn't count.'

I agree that it may be hard to believe, but passing is the best part of her game. Unbelievable passer. Not only finding an open teammate on the perimeter, pushing the ball upcourt, but may be one of the best ever at pick-n-roll passing. She misses "alot" of those deep bombs, but by making a decent pct, it spreads the defense and opens more passing lanes. And while other teenagers were going to parties and dances, she was in the gym at night putting up 1000 jumpers. It didn't come easy.

In high school she finished best in the state. She was also offered big college name scholarships but chose to join Iowa because it was close to home. But she didn't stop there. She kept going and passed the MEN'S college points record (3,667) held by Pete Marovich for over 50 years. She finished 4 years of college in Iowa with 3,951 points, beating the highest men's points record by almost 300 points.

Clark shot a 3-point higher percentage in college from outside 25 feet than inside. She was recruited out of Dowling Catholic HS in West Des Moines, Iowa as the #4 prospect in the country. She was hitting deep 3s as a teenager. She started getting widespread national attention after a road loss at Michigan in 2022 when Iowa dressed only 7 or 8 due to COVID. She hit 2 logo 3s from Montana. She rapidly became must see tv. Her shot release time is 0.49 sec, the same as Steph Curry. Shockingly, the only thing better than her elite shooting is her elite passing. Clark already set the rookie record for assists in a single season with 11 games remaining on the schedule. She is currently on pace to set the league single season record. Caitlin is still getting better from facing improved competition in the W. In a couple seasons, barring injury, she’s going to be unguardable at any level.

The OVERALL record for NCAA games ever. She is also an amazing passer and she can do lay-ups just fine. In her rookie WNBA season, she has already amssed more points in either direct shots or assists than anyone in WNBA history, the highest number of assists in a season, plus, plus, plus. There’s hardly a reocrd that she hasn’t broken. People rag on her for her high number of turnovers, but that’s most often because the person she’s passing to can’t take the passes she sends down. She has a triple double in her rookie WNBA season and there are still several games to go in the season. Her dribbling makes her defenders look confused and stupid. She is so much fun to watch! I would love to hear what Bill Burr has to say about her and the WNBA now! Her popularity is forcing opposing teams to move their games to a NBA venue when they play her team in order to accommodate the crowd that this kid draws. 15k, 20+k people to watch her game!
