Tom and gang, can you please make sure the segment's sound level matches the introduction's sound level? The intro is quite a bit quieter than when Tom starts to speak. It has been that way for quite some time now. Thank you!

Tascini did not work on Lorenzo (it was Virginio Giggli,Simone Luciani and Flaminia Brasini) he di work with Luciani on Marco Polo and Tzolk'in. Maybe you got it mixed up with Terramara.

We have to stop treating these Italian designers as if they were a single entity. Granted some of them worked together but they are different designers and deserve individual credit... Lorenzo was mostly designed by Flaminia and Virginio, which them did Coimbra. Barrage was designed by Simone, which is the head designer of Cranio. This game and Teotihuacan were designed by Daniele Tascini, who did not participate at all in Lorenzo, Barrage and Grand Austria Hotel. They are different people working for different companies. I kind of made this mistake once, I remember I met Simone at GenCon in 2018 and asked him about Teotihuacan as if it was something he was obviously involved - He gave me an uncomfortable look and said he knew nothing about that game.

I agree and understand. But all of those games are awfully similar... i think i can easily tell when a game is made by italians

To me this was a review where it almost seemed Tom subconsciously liked the game more than he yet consciously realized. Basically talking himself out of his own criticisms of it. Interesting.

The symbols have to be that way. They're referring to the alchemical symbols of the planets.

I really wished there would be another game within the ars alchimia universe because it looks so aesthetically pleasing, this isn't it I guess.

I really wish Daniele did a collab with Awakened Realms... like Michal Oracz has... is the board art here final or prototype?

I just played this and the iconography is really a nightmare for a while. But after you understand all the symbols, possible actions, free actions and poasible follow action, the game is ok. This game cries for a playeraid. And overall if it was not for all the bad icons, i would have liked it better

The big questions are: Do you have a strong desire to play it again, would you personally recommend it (why or why not), and did you have fun.
@ryusorata
@ryusorata 5 жыл бұрын
@@GhostKingGeorge i had fun. Can not recommend as it is. The game needs a player aid, thats all. With that the game is a solid 7/10. Forgettable but ok

@@ryusorata Thanks for your feedback. I think I'd definitely give this game a play if I ever happen upon it in the wild.... With so many games coming out these days I find myself becoming extra picky about what I pick up. It's an exciting time but an overwhelming time to be a board gamer...

I just played it and Tom is onto something, even during my first play I became better in understanding the mechanics and planning ahead. But it is heavy. The colors are confusing. Not only yellow for black but also rose for red and oh my gosh (!) the symbols. WTF? The player aid that comes with the game is no aid but has a mistake on it. Using the symbols makes thematically sense, but why don't print them in different colors, so that they are easier to tell apart? The spaces to put the essences have completely confusing symbols, so we didn't use them. What element is represented by what essence is another mess. And I missed some points because wind/air and water are so hard to tell apart. (Both are blue with a swirl) There would be enough space to have an area to count the rounds played, but why bother? I would rate it in between 7 and 8. A solid 7 for sure, but it lacks the final polish when it comes to the board layout and graphic design so not an 8.

Halfway through the review and I'm giving up, it's such a heavy chore of a game... Boring with a weak theme and sub-par visuals.
