Ed explained to Apple Music that this was a song he just stumbled upon in the studio with some friends who wanted to make a disco song. He sang this in "whisper" register, he's obviously not whispering but that's why it sounds way higher in pitch. Personally i love that Ed changed it up again for his new album. I think the cgi had some sort of artsy meaning. Like the vampire is his second self that comes up in the night, maybe even the personification of his bad habits and the puppet that collapses is his day/normal-self. But i'm not quite sure, i haven't seen the whole video.

Bad Habits is a song that reflects Eds past habits of constant drinking and late night partying and what this leads to. Ed Sheeran is now a father and reflects in this song how he cannot continue these bad habits within himself. So, I want to say what I think the video represents. The part where he sees himself melting away (which is a younger vision of him) I think that's like him saying goodbye to his immature (in the sense of before fatherhood) and younger self because now he is a father. I think the vampire aspect represents the song well because it's about how nothing good happens after 2 if you take into reference how most people stay awake after that time are drunk or not in the right mind set because of other things. So, he is saying that in those situations it leads to him wanting this girl. And at the end where it shows the "vampires" burning up, it's more of like a representation of how when the morning comes they face the reality of the night that happened and they are having regrets. So, if they talked to an ex or got with someone they don't necessarily like it's like them facing that realization in the morning. But, Ed Sheeran in the morning is unaffected because he accepts the feelings he had in the night and still has them so nothing really changes.

@scarlet80783 жыл бұрын
The vocal term is "whisper register." And then the sound producers pull the vocals forward (i.e., layer it or turn it up in volume over the music track). It creates a full sound in a range that is higher than a singer can achieve by normal singing
