His accent change is just because he's singing faster. When you want to learn accent reduction, they often have you sing and hold notes because it eliminates a lot of the mouth and tongue tension that creates accents.

Ed explained to Apple Music that this was a song he just stumbled upon in the studio with some friends who wanted to make a disco song. He sang this in "whisper" register, he's obviously not whispering but that's why it sounds way higher in pitch. Personally i love that Ed changed it up again for his new album. Everything he does is gold.

He’s stated in a couple of interviews that he compares this single to Shape of You in which it’s more up beat and not the typical “classic Ed” sound, but is not indicative of the whole new album. It’s a stand out song that he said he actually wrote after the whole new album was already completed, as he wanted to write a dance tune people could vibe to this summer coming out of lockdown. Knowing all that makes me enjoy this song even more personally haha.

He said in an interview with Zane Lowe that his producer had him pretty much whispering the vocals in the mic for this song. That’s why it sounds so different from his normal voice. It’s much more produced than normal. And no shade for him doing that. Nothing wrong with him playing around with different tools to get a new sound.

Like the vampire is his second self that comes up in the night, maybe even the personification of his bad habits and the puppet that collapses is his day/normal-self. His vampire-persona dies in the morning cus thats when the day ed sheeran gets up and starts his day, acting normal again and leaving those bad habits behind. But i'm not quite sure, i haven't seen the whole video.

I love the questionable CGI, its craziness makes it laughable, but with every other aspect being out there and done with quality, it’s forgivable. With the muddy dark coloured clothing, your eye is not really focused on the strange moving crowd, but on Ed himself because he is the brightest dressed person everything from his glitter make up, electric blue eyes, pale skin, pink out fit and even red hair was designed to stick out.

Bad Habits is a song that reflects Eds past habits of constant drinking and late night partying and what this leads to. Ed Sheeran is now a father and reflects in this song how he cannot continue these bad habits within himself. The vampire costume he uses reflects the dark side of him and displays the ‘bad habits’ he carries with himself and how he cant seem to make disappear

Probably my favorite Ed Sheeran song since I first really knew who he was way back in like 13’/14’. I love most of his stuff, but this is just so radically different from anything he’s done so far and he actually pulls it off really well.

So, I want to say what I think the video represents. The part where he sees himself melting away (which is a younger vision of him) I think that's like him saying goodbye to his immature (in the sense of before fatherhood) and younger self because now he is a father. I think the vampire aspect represents the song well because it's about how nothing good happens after 2 if you take into reference how most people stay awake after that time are drunk or not in the right mind set because of other things. So, he is saying that in those situations it leads to him wanting this girl. And at the end where it shows the "vampires" burning up, it's more of like a representation of how when the morning comes they face the reality of the night that happened and they are having regrets. So, if they talked to an ex or got with someone they don't necessarily like it's like them facing that realization in the morning. But, Ed Sheeran in the morning is unaffected because he accepts the feelings he had in the night and still has them so nothing really changes.

During an interview for a German radio station, he was asked how he changed his voice. He said that he sang the lyrics in a very muted voice (almost like whispering) and then it was turned up in production. It was the idea of his producer and he never heard of that technique before.

The vocal term is "whisper register." And then the sound producers pull the vocals forward (i.e., layer it or turn it up in volume over the music track). It creates a full sound in a range that is higher than a singer can achieve by normal singing

He said this song was actually done for a friend of his, and they did the main part of the song, but the guitar is the main instrument in this song. Also he released this song because he likes to put out the songs he feels people won't enjoy as much as the rest of the album, he says. So he felt people wouldn't like this song as much.

That's interesting bc this song is already really popular in the US & will likely be more popular than a lot of his other more "classic Ed" type of music, at least in the US
