I bought the same shotgun a month ago. The internals are BONE DRY. I used a bit lithium on the safety, and medium viscosity oil on everything else, and it functions MUCH better. Another KZbinrs noted that his Tristar wasn’t firing the second barrel, and lubing solved it. My safety switch is smooth as butter now, and not finicky at all. 👍👍👍👍

I picked one up yesterday ! And it was bone dry, to the point where the barrel select switch would go side to side ,but would not come off safe on the over barrel ! NEW ! I broke the gun down ,lubed it well ,wiped off the excess , worked the safe and break open lever ,over and over ,once lubed ! Nice product , why arn,t. They lubed from the factory ? I have a couple S K S chinese made ,when i recieved them,they were covered with cosmalean , a type of lite grease,like vasolean , these are well preserved guns !

Nice review. I have a couple of the TT-15 models ($750 to $850 range). Very nice. 10,000 through one of them. Just simple maintenance after 3 years. None of the issues you had with the Walmart version. Love them.

Great review. I had a similar issue with the safety and found that it had work loose. I took the butt stock off and put a little blue Loctite in the screw that holds the tang safety in place and reassembled. No issues since then and the safety works much better.

Picked one up today! Truly appreciated your insight on the gun without completely trashing it for expecting $3500 out of a $363 gun. I think it’s a beautiful gun and first thing I did was tear it down and clean and lube the crap out of everything that made contact with anything. Hope it alleviates any initial issues I’ve seen others have such as the tightness of the break and such. After I lubed everything up I could already tell a big difference in the break action especially. Going to head to the range in a few weeks to put some rounds through it and I hope it shoots as good as it looks and feels. Keep us posted on the long term of it and if any issues arise. I'm guessing I've put a good 600-700 rounds thru it. It has loosened up nicely. I've taken it out for dove and pheasant a few times. I really enjoy carrying this. You can see it in some of my other hunting videos. I started the first day of dove season with the Benelli, but decided to finish my limit with the Upland Hunter. Definitely a nice gun and a favorite of mine. I appreciate your comment. Hope you enjoy the new gun!

@@evo9860 For skeet I was using the two most open chokes. I'm not sure if they are called Skeet1 and Skeet2 or just Skeet and Improved Cylinder. Whatever they are called, I used the two most open. For dove, I was using modified and improved modified. Pheasant I used modified and what I believed was Improved Cylinder.

@@Windwalker_Outdoors So far I have at least 3,000 through mine and one broken firing pin that was probably my fault for shooting it dirty and it stayed extended while I was closing the action. Tri-Star send free replacement parts, no questions asked. Support was from the Midwest I believe.

I have the 12g and the only thing with mine is the silver plating under the bottom firing pin is starting to flake off. But I do love it great starter gun.

I bought the 12ga version. It quit firing after about 75 rounds. Contacted Tristar and, although it has a warranty, they want me to pay for shipping to and from their facility plus put insurance on the package. Seems like they would cover all that since it failed so quickly.

Just bought a .410 o/u with flush chokes. 7 shots to check the chokes pattern and its on the way back to Kansas because the chokes are stuck in the barrel.

You have to use some grease in the threads. I use muzzle loader breech plug grease to keep them from seizing.

No, the chokes apparently weren't machined to proper tolerance, got the gun back finally. It had different tubes and a note saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it, lol.

Yep.....still got it. It is a nice light little gun. I enjoy shooting it, a fun gun at the range. I got a couple pheasants with it too.

If you get it from Walmart, just modified.....if you get it from a gun dealer, usually improved Cylinder. Modified. Full
