Dell is trash. They always used the cheapest parts and thermal compound. I used to fix computers as a side job. I eventually made a rule that I would not work on anyone's Dell. Huge pains in the ass systems.

I'm so glad I never used Vista. Skipped that and 7 and stuck with trusty and solid XP until 8. Fucking garbage. I used it once when I visited my mom on her PC and it was a nightmare.

Windows 7 was amazing after it was out for about a year and a half. I held out on upgrading to 7, but it was far more stable than XP by the time I upgraded. Windows 3.1, Windows 98 SE, Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 10 are the only rock solid Microsoft OS's thus far.

@@citypopFM 7 is absolutely the king. Best windows version, period. I'm STILL using it and have only heard bad things about 8 and 10. Like the whole "tracks everything you do and reports back to microsoft" thing and the bit about "feeds you ads and installs software without asking based on the info it gathered on you". Going to have to pass, thanks. Also you can find videos showing how win 10 uses far more resources than 7 and gives worse performance in software and games, across the board. Windows 7 will never die because we are now fully in the middle of a chip shortage, which means more and more people won't be able to afford to upgrade, *IF new hardware is even available.* In poorer nations, they'll be using 5-10 year old hardware with Win 7 for a decade or more.
