TRITAC Frames are a unique self-defense and attacking martial arts technique utilizing elbows and a high-guard to defend against common street attacks such as punches, grabs, kicks, headbutts... etc.
In this TRITAC Flow Lesson, you will learn how to defend against straight punches such as the jab or cross, or wide punches such as the sucker punch or hook punch.
The Split Frame is when your hands are not connected as you would commonly see in "Frame 1". This allows you to have a much more dynamic method of defending against punches or grab self defense.
John Leabo and Mike Simon: Co-Founders of TRITAC Martial Arts breakdown how to use the split-frame defense... similar to a boxers parry defend against a jab or cross defense.
From this Split-Frame Defence - John Leabo shows how to enter in using hammer strikes and then to attack your opponent with a "Frame Flow" from Frame 1 to Frame 2.
TRITAC Frames and the Split Frame Concepts come from the influence of Keysi Fighting Method and Defence Lab.
Andy Norman from Defence Lab uses the split-frame in a lot of his Defence Lab Techniques for self defense. Andy Norman and the Defence Lab Crew just started a new online university for learning the Defence Lab: DNA Fight Science System.

Keysi Fighting Method or sometimes called KFM was a system of self defense and hand to hand combat. Keysi Fighting Method was created by Andy Norman and Justo Dieguez. KFM was known close quarters combat techniques and using a double arm cover over its head which was known as The Pensador.
John Leabo and Mike Simon are both Black Belts in Keysi Fighting Method and Defence Lab; and it is important to them that they always give credit to where they learned certain martial arts techniques and concepts.
Together, along with other partners, they formed TRITAC Martial Arts and is offered through Soul Fighters Academy.

I remember Tito Ortiz used a peek-a-boo style boxing using a head cover very similar to the downward flow and framing...in case people are doubting whether it works. This principle of protecting the head is consistent with other modern combatives theories (such as Tony Blauer's unconscious neuromuscular flinch response SPEAR ). They both say your head is the most vulnerable target from hand and foot strikes, and bludgeoning weapons. Get hit in the head hard and it's lights out, brain damage, or death. So while some people snicker that this is Batman "movie stuff", it makes total sense even as a grappler trying to go in for a clinch or shooting in. Protect the head at all costs.

This is great because the concept is simple and you see how it is immediately applicable.

+John Suscovich the split frame application is a dynamic "frame system" that provides a variety of ways to defend and attack at the high line, but also used in Combat Jiu-Jitsu applications when entering and connecting to your opponent(s).

Awesome! Obviously we're big "fans" of BJJ too :) At my school in CT (Jiu-Jitsu and Strength Academy) we offer both TRITAC-Jitsu, TRITAC-Unarmed and Soul Fighters BJJ. It's a great mix to help students learn all aspects of hand to hand combat.

All the defences i have seen so far have been against head attacks, what does dl/kfm do for body attacks?
@tritacacademy
@tritacacademy 6 жыл бұрын
We show a lot of head defenses because that's what most attackers are going to aim for... watch any street fight on KZbin or even most MMA fights and you'll see that 80+% of the shots are aimed at the head - which is why you'll see most of our videos will focus on head defense. That being said, our body shot defenses are just like Boxing or Muay Thai using a split frame defense while covering our body. in fact, one of our latest lessons we show how to defend against the body hook. We are NOT DL / KFM (who stay braced in their shapes to defend).

+Ronaldson57 Of course from the outside looking in "it's the same thing". But due to the experience of the founders of TRITAC, you are going to see a much bigger influence of Western Boxing, Muay Thai, Filipino Martial Arts and Jiu-Jitsu. It is truly a "Evolving" system that takes "what works" - but allows room to testing and evolving the art. Sometimes we related it to Bruce Lee's philosophy of JKD. It's a method if Self Discovery, Self-Defense, and Self-Cultivation. TRITAC is meant to be a living, breathing group Martial Arts Systems that will only evolve as our students, instructors and competitors continue to evolve. Similar to the way BJJ & MMA keeps growing and evolving. Practitioners all around the world are constantly testing to see "does it work". Apply that theory to Modern Combatives... and you are starting to see the mindset of TRITAC. Also, TRITAC itself has a grouping of 3 Systems. TRITAC-Unarmed (video above) is Empty-Handed Street Combatives. tritacunarmed.soulfightersacademy.com TRITAC-Jitsu is a Combat Jiu-Jitsu System tritacjitsu.soulfightersacademy.com TRITAC-Armed is our Weapons-Based Combatives System. (Coming Q2 2017). Wow - that was a lot of writing lol. Let me know if that clarifies some of the differences. I would also suggest checking out the TRITAC Origins videos by Tritac Leabo kzbin.info/aero/PLs36hKOG8fjMsGqPEi8CP8LQg5er0EuKb

The split-frame is a very versatile "series" that has applications to defend all types of attacks. You have to remember though, that the split frame or framing itself is only a "moment in time". You're not just going to walk around with your hands on your head hoping to defend all attacks. I suggest checking our our Free TRITAC Intro Course which goes into more details on our Frames and "Why" we use them: soulfighterstraining.com

+Thug Lincoln you will see similar concepts in 52 blocks, Dirty Boxing, Nudda, Crazy Monkey Defense, Keysi Fighting Method, Defence Lab and others. The concept of a high guard or cross arm guard is also seen in western boxing. It's nothing new, we find it highly effective for multiple opponents and for "chaotic combat"

This wouldn't work. If the guy throwing punches simply kept throwing them, the other guy would get knocked out. He keeps leaving the closest side of his face open to the right cross. Like, over and over again. This will get you knocked out. Please don't try this in a fight. It's too flashy and doesn't have the same reliability as a regular boxing shell.

This isn't meant for length fighting (boxing, etc) this Is a defensive style meant for close quarter combat. It's an extension of your current fighting style and intended to add something to your arsenal. So therefore it would work.

Lol @ baldness. In regards to sport, you probably don't realize how often fighters use the concepts of framing instinctually. This is just a drill or an elaboration on those concepts into set techniques that you can use to defend and attack. They are NOT the only thing we do. This is an element of TRITAC (frames) that can be to defend, smash & enter, slash & bash
