The arm bar from standing is priceless. I can think of many reasons why that can be useful. You have a full range of sight and the options to break, submit or abort should circumstances change ie multiples or weapons suddenly come into the picture. Nice!

Thank you for excellent feedback. We just to introduce the principle of the armbar to new students, but it is truly a combative application found after a successful throw.

5:00 is there a difference between that "wing-lock" and "waki-gatami"? In general they're both "armpit armlocks"! Of course theres various forms of waki gatami. But yea ive been trying to find the official name of that specific armpit armlock after you judo throw, they end up on their back, you trap their near side arm, and u do that specific "figure 4 armpit armlock". Thanks for the lit content!! The gracies have showed that same technique but i havent seen them use a specific name for it...at least in the videos ive seen. Lol!!

First time I've heard of 'kesa nage' (and it's keh-sa, not 'kei-za'). In terms of the gokyo no waza I think it would just be considered a variant of o-goshi. Where did you hear this name??
@tritacacademy8 жыл бұрын
J. What's up J! It is a variation of Ogoshi. It came from our old Japanese Jujutsu charts. It's really meant to reference the underhook grip. Thanks!

If your taking on a heavy opponent what’s a good throw
@Luccimatic4 жыл бұрын
Majority of ashi waza (foot sweep techniques) will be very useful against a bigger heavier opponent. Less reliant on lifting or pushing the opponent and more reliant on gravity and especially good timing with your feet.

Soul Fighters Academy- kewl. I like your style. My blends over the years look similar atemi to set up the throw. While most guys use various wrestling. But, you use the head butt a ton more, I'm ugly enough already, a self inflicted head butt will put it over the top. I prefer only to headbutt with the crown not front, like from a 2on1. Do you guys use much foot sweeps or traps?

these throws are much trickier when you're 5'7 and your opponent is 6'1
@tritacacademy7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say so... in fact, shorter people have an easier time getting their hips under larger opponents. The only reason someone might have difficulty is if they did NOT spend the time to train.
@Mike_LaFontaine757 жыл бұрын
Yup. Your center of gravity is lower. As a tall judoka, I found it much more difficult to effect hip throws and seoi nages, I had to dip so low to get under the opponent.

DARTHORIAN_DARK_WING take four years of judo if you want good nagewaza, if not then deal with it - pull guard and grab legs all day
@jimmyalderson16396 жыл бұрын
DARTHORIAN_DARK_WING ogoshi, taurikomigoshi, ippon seoinage, all these rotational hip/?_.$ throws are so difficult to do if you have a height 'advantage' because you need to squat more. Learn the judo before you use the techniques. I know you're not saying the techniques are bad or anything, but saying that these techniques are hard is like having a checkers player teach you chess and then saying 'the knight's a bit of a crap piece innit?'
