Great video, I'll use it as a reference when I get round to sealing my leak. Apparently, this isn't a common fault according to the smarmy little waster in charge of warranty claims at Triumph - he might want to watch these vids on KZbin. Thanks again for helping out.

My 22 Speedmaster was leaking out the same plug. Had the dealer fix it under warranty in April '23. Now it's June and leaking again. I saw on an Aprilia forum someone tried something similar on their bike - running the wires upwards to counter gravity pulling the oil to the rectifier. Came across this video today. Nice work. Another idea I've seen is relocating the rectifier somewhere higher on the bike for the same reason.

I have another video showing a quicker fix you could try first. Several people have done this and it has worked.

Hi thanks for the tutorial. My main question is how did the oil get in the alternator in the first place? Sealing up the wires at the ends doesn't make up for the main oil leaking to the alternator/stator. Can you show this as well? Keep up the good work!

The stator is inside the engine case. @6.12 of this video you can see. kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZbHfox8qqmmoq8

Great teaching tutorial, wondering what gauge wire size was used to lengthen the cable. Thanks again!

Thank you! I matched the core size of the wire with some I had l had kicking around, which I think was 42A.

Can I see somewhere how did you route the cables over?

I have a Tiger 1050 with this problem, I don’t think gravity comes into play though, my wiring goes straight up and oil still travels up to the plug. Hopefully this fix will sort out the issue though.

I think crankcase pressure forces oil through the wiring.

Hi; I have a Thruxton R. This one leaks by the N switch screw there. Is minimum; never dripped on the floor but is annoying. I removed those covers; tight the screw but not cured anything. May be do it again and add silicon?

The switch has an o ring. I would replace that.

Can you point me to the video where you talk about removing that bold for the engine ? I am going to try and reseal my old stator first before replacing the unit and needing to do that part.

You could try the quick fix first which is here, kzbin.info/www/bejne/rp_Jg2xpnNiefLs or I talk about the bolt here at 4 mins, kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZPKnHeYj9qjpqc or here at 16 mins, kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqiTlXp7mKuqo6s hope this helps!
