I couldn’t figure how the retention spring went back on, but thanks to your video I was able to get it. Thanks a million!

Thanks to you, I changed my own lightbulb. I love taking care of basic maintenance on my beautiful Bonneville T120. Thanks for the video.

Sorry. I didn't see the part number or link for the PIAA bulb. Looks like it's a type H4? Do you still have that and if so, how did it do over the last year? Still running properly? Great video BTW.

It is a type H4. Unfortunately I do not have the part number. When I went to the local Triumph dealer they had two bulbs, the standard Triumph bulb and then the PIAA bulb which they said was longer lasting and better with vibration. Unfortunately that bulb also died within a year. I posted that as a short (kzbin.infoPiyS8Ihlc9E?si=OSdkQ_jsUFSGfhC_). I am now on my 3rd bulb. I expect this bulb to die any day. If I make it through this upcoming riding season without replacing the bulb I will be surprised.

I never ride at night and just discovered the same low beam issue. Low is just running lights. At the end of the video you did not say if the hi was on or that was the low. Was hoping you could clarify. My bulb only goes on when hi beam turned on. Also is new bulb higher wattage? Different color rendering than stock? Thanks

It has been so long since I filmed this that it is difficult to remember what was happening, but what you describe sounds like how I remember the headlight operating with the failed bulb. The bulb would only go on when I put on the hi beam, but on low, the bulb was off and it was only the LED running lights that were one. Once I replaced the bulb I did have a normal daytime running light once again and the bulb was working in both hi and low. TBH I never really considered the wattage. I got the bulb from my local Triumph dealer after letting them know I had a 2020 T120. So I assumed that everything that they recommended in the new bulb was spec. Also, it has been a year since I did the replacement and the new bulb continues to work just fine. There was definitely a difference in the strength of the daytime running lights with the new bulb, so if your current bulb is only engaging on hi, I would recommend that you replace it. The small LED lights are not very visible in daytime. And even though you do not ride at night, if you get caught in a rain storm or a fog you want a running light that is highly visible. At least IMHO.

You just saved 100 bucks by NOT going to triumph 😅

Did you not think to try an led replacement, generally they will have lower wattage consumption and longer lifetime, mind you it can take a few trys to get a good one 👍🏻

Yes, I could find LED online but were they truly compatible. So, I decided if there were compatible LED bulbs in the USA then the dealer would probably carry them, so I went to the dealer and asked. They did not carry any LED, so I bought the longer life, more vibration resistant bulb that they sold. If you know of a good LED bulb that is compatible with a 2020 t120 and that is sold in the USA post it in the comments.
