Thanks Stuart. I bought a set for my w800. Styling for sure is good but found them quite impractical on longer trips. Volume not withstanding the ease of entry/closing gets tiring fast. Not being able to cinch up the main closure is a real problem as over/stuffing is impossible. In Canada the day starts off at 18c and can be 35c in the afternoon 500kms is a normal ride. Stowing stripped off garments as the day progresses is a pain with these. A simple leather belt buckle fastening system would make these bags a 8/10 vs a 4/10. Wrote Burly about this so lets see if they respond.

I purchased this for my 2017 T120 based on your review. You are spot on with description and everything about this pannier setup, however for me I found it all rather too fiddley for my taste, specifically the snaps aren't all equal and requires much attention to be sure all is secure. Thank you for the great video!

There’s a company out of Seattle, Washington called pakanimal that make beautiful leather panniers but are a bit on the expensive side. I settled for a pair of army .50 caliber ammo cans that I mounted onto two SW-MOTECH SLC Side Carriers. Both cans are 100% weather proof and inexpensive plus very unique. The looks I get alone make it worth the work I put in drilling the holes and coloring them to match the t-120s brown color.

So I absolutely love the way these bags look. I bought the tank bag. I fit the right kind of pannier bars to my bike. I saved my money because $400 is a bit of an investment. And now these bags cannot be had anywhere. Is anyone having a similar experience here? Does anyone at the company pay attention to comments or feedback? After two and a half or more months after I got my cash together I'm just going to move on and get something else and pocket the balance of that cash. Stewart I love your Channel. Burly I hate your service. ( update even as I type this, a dealer an hour and 15 minutes away says he can get them in a month cash up front in full. I'm going to mull this over for an evening but I'm leaning towards hell no.)(( Burly must be selling so many of these bags that I'm sure I don't matter to them.))

Try good, old fashioned Avon AM26 Roadriders or whatever they’re called. I’m on my third set of tyres on my T120 : Michelin Pilot Road 4 , and I’ll go back to the Avon’s again next time around. They just work beautifully and are cheaper as long as you’re not obsessed with getting a knee down, and they handle bad roads well.

Love your videos Stuart ,thank you for your views and insight into loads of gear and various bits and bobs. I really like the style of these, of which I’d come across a while back, thinking that these was just the ticket only to find they only fitted Harley’s. So my search continued and, to this day still not sorted luggage yet for my T120. This is excellent news they look really good. I didn’t really want to pannier rails spoiling the lines of my bike but I guess it’s easy just to bolt on and off as you desire. Have you come across the brand ‘Pack Animal’ before? Their Saddle bags look similar and super cool although a bit bespoke( you choose colour of the wax cotton/leather) . The one downside to these you would have to ship these in from the USA. Because of the above quite pricey. Before I pull the trigger I’m certainly going to look at these Voyager bags! packanimal.co/

I am coming to the conclusion that I also am going to have to bite the bullet and get a set of Panniers (these) and the Burly Brand tank bag as well. I have been taking a lot of day trips with my daughter in tow, and it would just be nice to not have to rely on what we can stuff into a backpack, which she ends up having to wear. Plus I would like to start taking some longer two or three day trips. I really like the look of these and think it would suit my needs and my bike well. That being said, there is one thing I am not crazy about and that is having to use pannier rails. I’m not sure, but am assuming they would normally stay affixed to the bike unless not using the panniers for a longer period of time, but I am sure once I have a set I will use them frequently without them necessarily being mounted all the time. And I really don’t like the look of the pannier rails on the bike when the panniers aren’t in place. First world problems I know, and I will probably just have to compromise 🙂. On a side note, I'm pretty sure I saw on one of your videos that your rails are a Motone prototype. Is that correct and if so do you know if they will be putting them into production? I think I wold like the rounded back end better than the square ones Burly sell on their site. Thanks for another great video and review.

Another good one Stuart! I did the obligatory and purchased the Triumph waxed cotton jobs and sold them a year later for good dough. They never did handle even modestly realistic payloads and eventually distorted. Purchased a set of Givi 22L hard panniers and mounts from the UK and never have looked back. They just work. I see people are asking about tyres too. My second set on the T120 was a pair of Avon AM26 Roadriders. Bias ply and all that: I’ve now done a tubeless conversion and fitted Michelin Pilot Road 4 radials and to be quite honest , next time round I’ll be doing the Avon’s again. They’re extremely competent on unsealed roads, do 99.9% of what the Michelin’s do , and are cheap enough to replace at the first sign of wear. They’re also seriously better than the factory installed Pirelli’s , which track and just generally don’t deliver. The tubeless conversion is well worthwhile even if you run bias-ply tyres.
