Spot on once again Harri! The first time I saw Triumph live I was a junior in high school in 1985. They blew my mind just like your response to them today. Even though I had Triumphs first albums there was nothing close to hearing them live. Im a bit more of a heavy metal fan but Triumph was one of a kind and will never be duplicated. Thanks Harri

A great song by Triumph 🇨🇦 released in 1981. It was written and sung by Rick Emmett who was inspired by an Aunt who was sick with cancer. A song of resilience and persistence, with fabulous lyrics and a song of dealing with what life presents. Great vocals, masterful drumming 🥁🥁🥁 and great guitar work. 🎸 🎸🎸 Amazing tune. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and The Greybearded Music Man. 👍👍👍 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

You’ve got to watch the live version from the US Festival. Others to listen to from the US Festival are Never Surrender, Lay It On The Line, When The Light Go Down and Allied Forces. They absolutely rocked the house that day. They have many more songs worth hearing. Ordinary Man, American Girls, Just A Game, Suitcase Blues, Young Enough To Cry, Fool For Your love, I Live For The Weekend, Street Fighter, Blinding Light Show/Moonchild, Nature’s Child, In The Night, Hot Time (In This City Tonight, A World Of Fantasy, Follow Your Heart, Stranger In A Strange Land, Rock Out Roll On, Tears In The Rain, Somebody’s Out There, Take A Stand, Headed For Nowhere, Never Say Never and Long Time Gone.

I've been hoping you would do this one. Rik Emmett is one of my favorite guitar players and is an incredible singer. Interesting note, his actual name is spelled "Rick" but an early release had a typo listing him as "Rik". So in typical Canadian fashion he rolled with it and adopted Rik rather than making them reprint the album covers! I would highly recommend that you also give a listen to the US Festival version of this song (doesn't have to be as a part of the channel).

Triumph is such an underrated and overlooked Canadian band. I interviewed lead singer/guitarist Rik Emmett about 15 years ago. Seems like a really nice guy - a good Canadian boy eh. He is a guitar virtuoso of many styles. Upbeat music and lyrics. Another three-piece master band from my country. Gil Moore (original singer on their debut album) is a great drummer no one talks about. Mike Levine is a very good bassist too. Magic Power, Hold On, Lay It On The Line and Just A Game are other great Triumph tunes.

Great reaction and thanks for sharing. Triumph is worth watching their songs live too. They are a three piece band. So all that sound coming from just three people. Check out the songs Magic Power and Lay it on the Line too. But if you feel like enjoying what they do live, watch their live performance at the US festival in 1983. It is truly amazing and gives you an idea of just how magical they are as musicians and how really talented a singer Rik Emmett is. Chris

Ahhh this amazing song from 1981 by Canadian rockers Triumph. You will definitely want to react to the song "Magic Power" off of this same album ("Allied Forces"). I had become such a hard rock fan by 1980, the year I graduated high school and started college. Then hard rock suddenly died. Rock stations changed formats from hard rock to soft rock and pop. Thank God for Canada, who didn't get the memo that hard rock had died and gave us some of the best rock and roll of the early 1980s. There were bands such as Triumph, Red Rider, Vandenberg, Helix, to name a few who came to our rescue and were like water in the desert of that era. Some suggestions for you to react to: Triumph, "Magic Power" (as mentioned above) Red Rider, "Lunatic Fringe" Vandenberg, "Burning Heart" Helix, "Heavy Metal Love"

In high school Triumph was my favorite band, and this song and World of Fantasy were my favorite songs. These two songs are arguably still my favorite songs with vocals. However, my favorite now artist is mostly instrumental - Joe Satriani, and I have many favorite songs from him, but all my time favorite is the studio version of Crushing Day. Other great song by him are The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing, Big Bad Moon, The Golden Room, Driving At Night, One Big Rush, and Back to Shalla-Bal - mostly prefer his older stuff. If you haven't done a review of his stuff, you're cheating yourself. God bless! A big PS on this song. The Sunday before I left for boot camp, the preacher at church invited me to say a few parting words, and I quoted the lyrics of this song. Had a LOT of people come up to me after service asking who this band was - that was 35 years ago this month!
