This Friday, something completely different.
A quick showcase of a friends Triumph hardtail, at Davidstow airfield, shot with the dji mavic mini. A short trip to find Statton stone circle, where we found some stunning scenery, and again the drone came out of the bag. Followed by my reaction to riding the bike. I got a little excited so I'm afraid I was talking nonsense most of the time.
I found it quite hard to ride, but mainly due to the bumpy road surface. Whenever I hit a bump whilst accelerating, I was sliding back on the seat. And because of the riding position, you can't support yourself with your feet or knees. You just have your hands to hang on with.
I owned a TL1000 for several years, so I know how much respect some bikes need to be given. But this is on another level.
I'm sure there will be many disputes over whether it is a chopper or a bobber, but to me it really isn't important. It's gorgeous and sounds out of this world.
I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to both film, and ride this work of art. It was quite unforgettable.
I'm afraid I don't know any details about the bike, but if there is anything you wish to know, I may be able to find out from the owner and get back to you.

What a beauty! Gotta love a hardtail (I've never ridden springers). It's a chopper baby... As a famous actor once said. 😂 Ride safe, LJ

Cracking video, i got a 1982 Z650 Hardtail Chopper last year, absolutely love it, like you say the riding experience is like no other, cool but very raw, got to respect the bikes limitations, my bike doesn't even have indicators so need to use hand signals, because it's an inline 4 you have a load of carbs right at your crotch, rides surprisingly well though, looking forward to runs to the coast in it in the summer (west coast of Scotland), fitted electronic ignition to it over the winter so hopefully it will be reliable.

Top job. Low, Lean and Loud. To me it's a Bobber. As in "Bob job" stripped back and nothing fitted that's unnecessary. You do get used to them but you have to really concentrate and be on your metal. To me, after having my own Bobber for 11 years it was just not fun to ride anymore. My classic 500 is a totally different proposition. Relaxing and easy to ride. Gorgeous machine though👍

Hey Pike. I had a feeling you’d like this one. Absolutely stunning bike, but definitely demands a lot of respect. I was a bit too over excited to make much sense whilst riding it ha. For me it’s a show piece, I couldn’t ride it daily, but I could look at it forever. Yep the Classic felt like a rolls Royce after riding this one 👍🏼 Ride safe Pike!

I’m going to remain impartial on the chopper/bobber debate 😉 I was kind to not show the bike disassembling itself...or I’m saving it for an out takes vid. All thanks are to you, that was a cracking day out. Classic 500’s, as much as I love it, run of the mill in comparison.

@@Saddlebags73 It's too late to be impartial Bob. And you was lucky it was only the gear lever that fell off! Was a cracking day - for vertebrae! But seriously, it was a fantastic ride and the stone circle and surroundings were amazing to behold. Your 500 just seemed so easy to ride and dead comfy too. Brakes were sharp and similar in feel to ones on the Interceptor I tried. Maybe I'll get a proper bike soon.

I've ridden a few of those HT engines. They have superb power and rarely need to get above 3rd gear on them around town and on the A roads. I must admit my lower back wouldn't like those bumps on that one! !

It was so hard to ride on a bumpy surface. The riding position leaves you in a death grip on the bars. Normally you’d grip the bike by the foot pegs and knees, but that just isn’t possible. This bike demands a lot of respect. But it was so exciting. So exciting in fact, it was hard to talk anything but nonsense when riding it 🤣

@@Saddlebags73 when i was looking at it I was trying to figure out what the engine and tank was. I think it’s too small for something like a Thunderbird and I don’t think it was a modern 1200 engine because it didn’t look like my Speedmaster 1200 engine. I’m looking to build a hardtail chop but I haven’t settled on a bike or engine yet, I just can’t make my mind up. Hi. I'm currently converting my '07 T100 to a hardtail (Bobber? Chopper? Chopper sounds cooler doesn't it?) I've very interested to know more about that build, particularly the springer. It's not easy to fit one to a modern Triumph. Is there more info on that bike? I was very jealous watching you ride both of those beauties. I'm looking forward finishing mine up.

Hi 👋🏼 My friend doesn’t like it being referred to as a ‘Bobber’. He says “I don’t bob”. But I definitely caught him bobbing on a few occasions. Your project sounds awesome. I’m really sorry, but I can’t help you there. My friend bought his already built. There must be info somewhere on KZbin, surely. I hope you find what you need, and good luck with it 👍🏼
@MichaelDisney
@MichaelDisney 3 жыл бұрын
It was built by Fenland choppers on their own frame and springer forks. I'd say chopper, since bobbers bob from their suspension. "Chop" used to refer to chopping the frame for a hardtail where I come from. Maybe I should take the sprung seat off and replace it with a bit of foam to remove any further doubt. Good luck on your build.
