Thanks for the video John. Right at the end, it does seem odd to have the fuel pick up pointing away from the bottom of the tank. I'd be tempted to turn it around. Why, apart from being as built, did you choose not to?

Well, for one thing, experimenting with the idea could be expensive and time consuming since the gasket is probably ruined each time you take it apart. Aside from that, there may be reasons to have that rubber baffle pointed that way. It probably makes it easier to assemble. The pressure return line is fitted into that boot, and the washing effect of that return fuel might be compromised. The potential for air getting into the pump during low fuel or at the end of the fuel supply might be increased as that boot creates a baffle and acts essentially as a mini-tank. If you turn it around it will no longer contain fuel in the boot. When you open automotive fuel tanks you'll notice that there is a small box or baffle at the bottom of the larger tank where the pickup is located, and it acts in a similar way. I had that box come loose in one of my trucks years ago and the result was that when I came to a sudden stop or stopped on a hill with the tank below 1/3, the engine would stall! The box kept a small reserve of fuel available no matter how the rest of the tank was splashing around, and the Triumph rubber boot may do the same thing. So, for all those reasons I opted to leave it be, especially since the only potential gain might be a few more miles of riding from a tank. I never ride a tank of fuel right down to the last drop anyway.

How often do the hose & filter need to be replaced?

If memory serves it's recommended every two years or 12K miles on these bikes. The hoses aren't mentioned, so you need to check them when the filter is removed. That said, if you know you are filling up at sketchy gas stations you might do it annually or if you know your fuel is pristine you might get away with a longer period. This particular filter is pretty large, so it would take a lot to clog it up.

You probably should replace the gasket every time your remove the old one. Don't do the removal until you obtain a new gasket.

I don't disagree, but with the supply chain still screwed up even after the pandemic sometimes we are forced to take chances. If I had not been able to source a new gasket at all I would have used silicone black gasket maker to help seal the old one until I could buy a new one.

@@tinderboxarts I do understand, the dealer recently dropped my 2022 T120 in for a tire change and now they are waiting for parts to replace what was damaged.

Changed mine with the same gasket - no problems. It was clean with no damage.
