Ade, Some time ago, a pal had a similar problem. He found a solution in buying a 15 000 rpm spindle from our Chinese friends , mounting that in a housing that had an MT4 arbour on the end of it, and shoving that in a conventional milling machine. He improved on this " MacYver" design later on, but it did end up being a cheap and cheerful solution. Cheers Paddy

Hi Paddy, good to hear from you, thanks for the comment. sorry I have been a bit quiet on here recently, work is extremely busy at the moment. I'm changing jobs again soon, back to 4 on 4 off shifts, so hopefully have more free time to do the A G Engineering channel. Best wishes, Ade.

Very first order service. I would like to know if the rivets have a small taper at the top or are parallel, with only the repression fixing them. The bronze punch has a small concave part so as not to damage the head of the rivets? Thankful! I wish you a year close to the greatest excellence!

Good job Ade; would it have paid you to have made up an adapter for the shank of the carbide cutter so that it would have fitted the chuck of the Proxxon mini-drill? The Proxxon would have given you the speed required.
@AGEngineering6 жыл бұрын
Crossed my mind, but it would not be very rigid and I don't have a drill stand for the Proxxon (yet...)

Nice job Ade. As a matter of interest, what was the make of drilling machine you used please to get that speed. Keep em coming 👍👍

Thanks for the comments, the drill came off Aim tools some time ago, think you can find them on Ebay, Aliexpress etc also.

A seemingly little, simple job that could easily become a fussy, horrid mess, with enlarged, misaligned holes, etc. Your methodical, careful methods paid off again. Of course, for the rest of us, there's always glue!

I have a T 120 in at the moment with the same issue. Unfortunately the person who's engine it is made the mistake of badmouthing me on Facebook as he thinks everyone should jump to when he wants something. I would have sorted it out normally for a decent customer but he can do it himself as he's too tight fisted to pay. It was his cheapo polisher who broke off the drive rivets so not my problem. Nice job, I don't think I have anything which turns that fast other than a die grinder. Normally I spark erode these horrible things.

Oh the joys of dealing with customers in the shop, glad I left that behind years ago. Thank you for taking the time to comment.

-n Nice getter out, Two things come to mind, one, if there was a bit turning in the bottom of the hole, a spot of Loctite might have held it long enough to be drilled and two, cartridge case cleaner(dilute nitric acid) would have dissolved the steel rivet remnants. I once dissolved a M2 tap that I broke in an Alloy part I was making, yup, even I can have Bozo moments, :>( ATB c
