Thanks for the experience. I was going to order this TEC one but I got one off ALIbaba express for half the cost and to be honest looks neater. Good you pointed out the manufacturers shortfalls, you’d think they would solve these issues prior to manufacture. And I’m with you on the symmetry. 👍🏻

Re the plate hole positions. The bikes are supplied from triumph without any holes drilled in the plastic plate mount with just an indicator slot to suggest the position. Hench every dealer drills the holes in a different place.

@@georgemilburn6213 Absolutely, and with good reason, because it depends on the letter spacing on the plate where you are going to want to put the fixings. However, the indicator slot on the original mount is about 10mm lower than the one on the new tail tidy relative to the number plate lamp, so there’s no way you can use the original plate holes to secure it, because the plate fouls the lamp. It would have been a simple matter to put the slot lower on the new pressing.

Used a rubber grommet to fill the hole and moulded an ABS plate to keep mine tidy and protected...

Jeez your number plates are huge! And yellow. Spoils the look of the bike

@@chrro466 Yeah, in the UK our plate size, colour and even the size and shape of the letters are mandated. Of course, it’s possible to get smaller ones made, and lots of people do, but it’s a red flag for getting stopped by the police and I’m too old for that kind of shit these days. 🤣 That said, I do have a 6 digit number, which allows me to use standard height letters, but cut down on the size of the plate if I could be bothered, but it is not really anything I’m worried about.

Just fitted mine. I agree with you about the missing grommet. I don't think they really expect you to bother with the reflector.

It’s a pity nobody has come out with a shorter version of the original design with all the cables and hole under the seat nicely covered. I am not a fan of having the cables exposed in the worst possible location.

@@robshanghai1I have just been watching an American chap who has 3-D printed exactly that, a shorter version of the stock tail. It’s currently at the first prototype stage, but it looks really neat. It’s definitely something I would consider buying if it comes to market in any form, as all the pressed metal alternatives are compromised in one way or another.
