Nice! To whom that have been facing difficulties to find the sprockets for the Triumphs. It's the same for the Dominar 400 and KTM 390.

Thanks for this demonstration video. When riding the bike at 70mph what was the RPM before changing from the 15 to the 16? What was it after changing to the 16 tooth? I have heard that this help reduce the vibration at 70mph as the engine is revving that bit lower, has that been your experience too?

I didn't note the RPMs however it sure runs smoother and has plenty of pep off the line

Can you explain what happens if we use a 17t sprocket?? Would it fit? Increase speed? And what are the downsides? Does it reduces torque or acceleration?

+1 same doubt, please explain.

Sprocket change does not change the power/torque outputs. All it does is delivers same torque at higher speed. When you ride the speed 400 stock say you're in 3rd gear you will feel a sudden pull at around 50kmph at around 4-5k rpm, that's where the bike starts generating some good torque. Now if you were to bump up the front sprocket to a 16t the same torque you felt at around 50kph will now be felt at like 60kph. Same will happen in every gear, you will feel the torque come alive at a higher speed. But, the low end will be shallower than stock as there will be even lower torque available at lower speeds. The speed 400 from factory is really geared low and a 16t front will help it a ton. for cruising around at like 100kmph (60mph) the bike almost reaches like 6k rpm stock but with a 16t front it will do 100 at like 5k rpm so you will have less vibration more fuel economy and more top end if you wanna have some fun and wring it out

@@dibyaprakashsamal3880 get a 16t, see how it rides, then if you still want get a 17t. The drive sprockets are quote cheap and I'm pretty sure a 17t front would make a hige difference and really kill all the power in the low end so better option would be go for 16t and then decide if you wanna stick to it or go even further

How is it at the top end of the rpm with the 16t sprocket ? Do you feel like the same level of pull (torque) is there on the top end or do we have to shift down a gear sometimes when cruising?
@ketanupasani70914 күн бұрын
How significant is the reduction is low end torque. Does the engine lug at higher gear and lower speeds (which it didn't do with the 15t sprocket)? How has the riding experience changed while riding with a pillion, does it feel weaker to pull?

Does anyone know where I can buy a 16 tooth for the Speed400 in the UK? Thanks

Try a KTM dealer. the Duke 390 sprocket fits. also MTX brand sells one that fits. There's a photo on the link following. A gent in the UK bought it from Austrailia, however, he said it arrived in good time. www.triumphrat.net/threads/speed-400.1007860/

This is the Speed 400. It was geared pretty low. 1st gear was pretty much useless starting off. As soon as you started, it was hitting high rpms and I needed to shift to 2nd. I often started off in 2nd when riding at a leisurely pace. Now that I did the swap, it feels better starting off in 1st and I have a little more room before wanting to shift up to 2nd. The bike has plenty of pep and gets off the line fast enough for me

The stock gearing is pretty low so pretty much as soon you take off in first, the revs get high and you have to shift to second and again the revs get high and you have to shift to third. Once you swap out the front sprocket to a larger one, the engine doesn't rev so fast requiring an immediate shift out of 1st and second gear. Less shifting at lower speeds. The upgrade lowers the revs at all speeds and will also add a few more mph at the top speed
