The simplest pleasures of motorcycles are not always experienced on balls out hyperbikes. Having a motorcycle that's easy to live with, useful daily and fits the budget is my choice. The Triumph is gorgeous and powerful enough to make me happy 😁😁😁

Good work ! I'm thinking of buying one. I'm getting on in life at 60 ! had R1 fireblades bmw gs suzuki gsx1400 and enjoyed them all. Time to accept its time to tone it down ! This could be bike for me ! Only 5'7 and it was never a problem until the last few years when I lost confidence and wanted 2 feet on the ground ! So anything with 810mm or les is appealing ! No cruisers though ! Great work I'm subscribed

Thank you for your kind comments! I know what you mean, cruisers were always a big turn off. This is a good compromise. My only gripe would be just imagine what a 400 twin could do! Used to love that 1400 Suzuki. Always thought it would be too heavy. Had 2 CB1100’s though

Good luck with the Norton. Real English Brand, must live up to the heritage. Amazing Triumph for just 400 cc. Just bought a 400. Good light size with some sting in it's tail. USD forks are a sweet touch in the handling cred . Fitted dog bones to raise the standard bars 6". I was thinking of going for the scrambler with Speed wheels to get the higher ground clearance and faster handling , cornering. Deals done tho now!

The only negative point i could find about the Speed 400 was the levers are not span adjustable. As for low speed jerkyness, the one i test rode from Destination Triumph in Christchurch (Dorset not New Zealand 😂😂), was super smooth. Yes there was a slight amount of buziyness, but certainly not very noticeable, and while riding around Christchurch at 30mph in 5th gear, she just pulled smoothly and easily. A really great review, thanks for posting it.

@@pintsizedbiker seems it may be down to the software level of the ECU, some complain of a light throttle surge and others haven't noticed anything. Mine has it along with a flat spot on full throttle in 6th. FuelX sorted it but then I fitted a DNA air filter and we're back to square one so definitely to do with lean air fuel ratio. 85 mpg is a giveaway as well..

As a Triumph owners club member I applaud Triumph making a medium sized machine, right decision. But I also own a Royal Enfield Interceptor and can't help thinking the Enfield is a much classier bike. My opinion only but Triumph have not quite got it. That said it looks okay, but would be better with polished engine casings, proper traditional rev counter and speedo set up. like I said, just my first thoughts. I have not ridden one but hopefully will put this right soon.

Good viewing pleasure. I like the idea of this motorcycle but I'm wondering about the realities riding it in a larger country like Canada. Somebody in the comments mentioned riding 5th gear at 30mph no problem. Would the engine be able to handle a final drive gearing change so that on the highway in 6th gear it wouldn't be beating it's little heart out? I don't really care about losing acceleration. I just don't like a screaming engine on cruise.

Triumph designed it using Bajaj’s data for the KTM engines, the reason they have the same bore and stroke figures. no doubt about it triumph knocked out of the park, I'd like to have seen the scambler more off-road with an upswept exhaust and bash plate and a few weeks, both are available in India as aftermarket parts, plus I do like twin shocks but that's just my person choice for easy servicing and replacement of units, one criticism I do have is the top line, bottom of the tank and seat looks like the bike had been crumpled in a head-on impact, lowering the clearance at the rear wheel would have made that a straight line, perhaps someone will make a new bolt-on subframe giving more seat options, the rear end is high for no reason,

They have got this ' spot on' ... the race reps have long had their day... speed limits coming down everywhere... 40bhp is more than enough... im close.. but the fly by wire throttle puts me off..nim leaning cb300r... even 30bjp is fun on the right roads.. any fool can race down a bypass.. its boring

Hey John, yes fair point and thanks for watching! It’s balance though because the light music dulls out the wind noise which despite best efforts isn’t impossible to eliminate, though I am working on it. The first clip had no music the 2nd had it quietly. I will be doing videos of just pov video of the bikes I have tested. And where possible this will just ambient sound
