I have one, there are lots of issues with the ignition - won't turn on frequently, sometimes the engine warning lit up, sometimes abs and traction control, One time the ignition completely cut off while overtaking no abs, traction control... I felt like I was going to heaven/ hell somewhere 🤣. Finally the dealer replaced the keys and immobilizer control unit ( in just 996km) The funniest thing I've seen in my 400 was the distance to empty --- it never ever showed an accurate reading. But... Everything else is pretty good and pretty impressive.

Must say Triumph has done the best job of maintaining quality while building these small bikes in India. Of course only time will tell, but the appearance of the bike is just as lovely as the UK products. I want one to replace my missing (stolen) 1982 Honda FT500 Ascot. That bike reminded me about the sheer joy of Thumpers. Probably going to sell my 2003 Yamaha FZ1, as I don’t need all that power weight and complexity at my age.

MT03 is a nice bike. There are advantages of a twin over a Thumper. I was very close to buying an MT03 but decided I wanted a retro bike (own a Suzuki GSX 150 already) and was checking out the Yam XSR 150 but my GSX is already a 150. Then it happened...Triumph was releasing the 400 series in my country...the answer to my search and prayers for an affordable thumper in a retro package. Thanks Triumph!

Great review, I ordered a black Speed 400 back in Oct '23, but I will switch the footpegs and holders for the ones from the Scrambler to get a little more legroom and more open seating position as I am 6'2 (187cm) tall. Also, I am going up at least 1 tooth on the front sprocket as almost every review states that 1st and 2nd gear are more or less useless. Hopefully, it will land here in Denmark for delivery next week.

Great review, thanks and I've watched many reviews on these bikes, so test rode a red speed and red Scrambler today, wow what a thumper, thats one busy buzzy lively engine, both models exhausts sound fantastic. Taken the plunge and ordered a black Speed, reasons are.. I can flat foot it, its 10kg lighter and more manoverable which is handy at my age, takes up less space in the garage, height and width. I'm 5ft 8". Dont get me wrong the Scrambler is a smashing looking bike and lots roomier, just a bit tall for me. So the Speed came out tops, luckily picking it up next week.🙂 what I did notice was 2 second hand scramblers in the showroom but no Speeds 🤔 Personally my heart went with the Scrambler mainly due to ascetics but my head went with the Speed, I would advise test ride both and ask for at least 3 hours for each bike.

I'm really torn between the two and there's no place near me that allows test rides so I'd have to make a decision by sitting on a static bike. Nearest Triumph dealer is about 100+ miles away so that's keeping me away from Triumphs in general because of the lack of dealers/service. I just took in a 2019 Honda CB300R on trade for my CB500X (which was too heavy for me) and that lightweight (313 lbs) Honda 300 is a blast to ride, but the suspension/saddle is very stiff on our terrible blacktop roads so it's not an all-day ride bike. I'm hoping the Triumph will bring the same fun riding but with a softer suspension for these rough roads. If you've ever ridden a 300R I'd appreciate your comparison.

Nothing added here that we haven't seen in a score or more other rider impression/reviews. I'm not sure why there were frequent comparisons to the 400X...They're practically the same bike so it's a null contribution. There was no recorded "testing" of the 400s known software spots and the reference to the testers indebtedness to the Triumph dealer the bike came from is a virtual flag indicating no fault will be found that might impact on the availability of test bikes in the future.
