Thanks for the drive Chris, Dorothy seems to be in good running order, enjoy.

Nice country drive. Love the scenery and the last important stop 😊. My wife and I went for a drive in the GT6 the other day. She said she enjoys getting looks and remarks from people.

Very important! Yeah, not going to lie that I love the looks and comments. A just reward for all of the work, and it gets people exposed to the way cars used to be - entertaining and fun instead of a mere appliance. Thanks, Hazen!

I love an Ice Cream run. Don't you love the turning radius, makes u-turns easy. You are becoming more confident in her reliability. Oh that sticking choke.....you should just get rid of her....I'll thank her off your hands LOL Thanks Great Video. Thanks for sharing.

lol, thanks. I think I might just fix it, instead. Yes, the turning radius is great. I can almost turn around inside the curbs at my house. Definitely fun!

It's getting there, Chef. A few squeaks and rattles...odometer has stopped working. But, otherwise, pretty happy. Thanks!

On my way to Westerly the other day I crossed the Gold Star bridge and it reminded me of your exploits/fear of crossing it to go to a car show in a recent video. Nice area to drive after you get off I-95
@roundtailrestoration5 ай бұрын
It is nice. Nicer on this side of the bridge, I think, than the New London side - at least until you get around Niantic. I probably should force myself to go over it more, especially now that she seems to be running strong. Conquer my fears, and all. Thanks, Don!

Hi Chris, After spending 348 days getting my car back on the road after a 12-year lay-up, I got to the local car show, and on the way home, 200 yards from my front door, the MSD HVC-II Coil and the MSD Digital 6 Plus Ignition box both failed. It took me 8 more weeks to determine exactly what had failed. I removed the failed components and now have the Mallory Distributor, the Pertronix HEI switch, and a 3-Ohm Pertronix Coil. The ignition now works perfectly again. I won't be fitting any more MSD components, that was a waste of $1,000. They failed only because of age, not vibration, not heat, and not use, (only covered 22k miles). I'm less annoyed at the waste of money than I am losing 2 months of Summer driving! I'm getting older and don't know how many more Summers I have left!

That's not cool! I haven't ever looked into any aftermarket ignition stuff or major upgrades like that. But thanks for sharing. I know what not to look for now! Enjoy the rest of the season.

Take care not to loose your cap!
@roundtailrestoration5 ай бұрын
Ha! Definitely had to adjust it a few times. I've had that cap almost as long as I've had the car (a decade!), so I'd hate to lose it.

Hi Chris, do you still have the set of Spit mk1 wheels with you and possibly just sitting around in your garage? Thanks and regards, Chris.
@roundtailrestoration4 ай бұрын
I don't even remember. I'll have to look through my stuff. I know that I have extra wheels, but I think they are mismatched (one Mk1 and one Mk2). I'll take a look, though, and see what I can find.

@@roundtailrestoration hi Chris, thanks for your reply. I can imagine! It’s been a few years since you started on your Spitfire project. Though to me, it feels only very recent as I keep returning to your videos. Perhaps save your efforts searching…I am based in the U.K. and had a look at freight prices over the weekend - the cost is extortionate. I was prepared to pay a decent amount, but not the prices I found. To give you some background as to why I asked the question, I am currently restoring a mk1 spitfire. We only have 3, correct wide-slotted wheels and have been searching far and wide to make up a set of 4, if not 5. It’s a real struggle!

@@Chrisismagical I know about the shipping. I used to get quite a few parts from Rimmer Bros. Now, it's common that the shipping is as much as the parts.

One way to test the drive line.
@roundtailrestoration5 ай бұрын
Yup, worked out okay. I think I might have one loose one at the front prop shaft UV joint. Have to get back under there and check them all again anyway, but those are tough to get at from the bottom (exhaust in the way). Definitely not the noise I did have, that's for sure.

Hey Chris, Great drive video with Dorothy ... can you shave your in car video set up please, I need to do one with my TR250 Jolene, it's exactly what I'd like to do as well.. Thank you
@roundtailrestoration5 ай бұрын
Hi, Jim. I have an old GoPro 4 with a suction cup mount stuck to the fuel cap. If I hit a big bump, the cap sometimes pops open, but it doesn't happen much. Pretty stable, but you do get some sound anomalies through the fuel tank. You could probably put it anywhere as it's pretty strong.
