Thanks Richard, basically makes me smile People pumping the accelerator pedal like mad for ages trying to start stags , when actually the Stromberg's don't have anything to pump petrol , you tell em ,

The only thing that pumping will do is draw fuel via a weak vacuum into the inlet. It does help but then so does just holding the throttle slightly open as you crank. #1 tip though is to wait for the fuel pump to finish priming the carbs before flicking the starter on a cold start

I have twin Zenith CD 150 on my 1981 Sabb 900 gls, they are flooding badly and the diaphragms look like the flimsy new types and probably put in the wrong way, i.e. not positioned in locating lug holes. The carbs have mostly the same parts and design as the CD 175's used on the stag. I want to strip them down but it's a bit above my skill level but I might give it a go. Brilliant videos, I have watched nearly every one in the Stromberg series, thank you!

Richard, a lot of motorsport events require additional throttle springs as a fail-safe. A scrutiniser unfamiliar with the Stag setup may not have known there were already fail-safe springs in there and may have insisted on more being fitted. Failing that, the owner may just have a clumsy right foot…

OK, This is the ANTI 'BASICALLY' PARTY , I am trying to get my fellow KZbinrs to stop using the word basically, can you do it ?, instead of using that over rated word just tell it like it is and show the world you are intelligent and do have a grasp of English grammar. Where are you looking for wear or were you looking for the wear on the weir or maybe where the weir wears because of it's ware. OK this is going nowhere. Polite suggestion ultrasonic cleaner AFTER the filing, Just a thought.
