We bought this bike for my wife, i personally have a BMW RnineT tuned to the max and a BMW HP4 with 202HP and i catch myself wanting to ride my wifes Street Twin the most. Its just so relaxing, easy, it doesnt push you, it is just enjoyable. The motor is more than capable enough, the sound of the twin is super nice. I love this "little" machine!

Thanks for this review, top notch. I have a 2017 model and I adore it. It’s not for sale, it’s mine forever. Love the torque, laid back easy handling and compact dimensions. I got over obsessing about the numbers, and comparisons with others years ago. For me it’s plenty fast enough and I don’t need any more.

All these positive comments are edging me towards a 2017 model with a low mileage, 8k kms. Trading in my big Italian 04 Aprilia Caponord for a lighter everyday bike. But what about this thing with wiring harness? Hvnt heard about it in the other discussions on the same model elsewhere. Appreciate if any one can clarify this issue

I bought one of these( 2023 chrome edition) and can echo all you've said about it. I had always ridden sports tourers and wanted something different that would suit the DGR. I'm old and short and haven't stopped smiling since I took it for a test ride. I decided there and then to buy one and I love it. The torque, sound and ease of riding is a real game changer! Great review thankyou!

Just bought a brand new Speed Twin 900 as a retirement present to myself and can't wait to pick it up in a few days. I went for a test ride a couple of weeks ago and I was grinning all the time I was out on it, such an easy bike to ride with more than enough power and grunt for my type/style of riding and I'm looking forward to many happy miles of riding.

I was looking into getting a RE Meteor 350 Fireball Red but, the dealers can't get them until July. So I decided to look for something else, behold the Triumph Street Twin 900 got my attention, I live in mountain area and flat land very near the great Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. This bike rides like a dream and I know what you mean about the pulling power. I love it and I am very happy I bought it. This motorcycle has Great 👍🏽 Ergonomics to sit and drive High Torque which makes it FUN to drive Easy to handle Superb Sound better than the 1200 Best Looking ❤ I even rode the Speed Twin 1200 but it was very warm and hot 🥵 near legs 🦵 and the ergonomics are better on 900 than the 1200

Thanks for the review Eddie and for braving the cold! I'm late to the biking world having raised my bat for the half century. Passed Mod 1 in Dec. and was about to take Mod 2 when lockdown happened. In the interim period I'd bought a 2020 Street Twin in black (blacked-out mods with slightly off-road tyres, bench seat etc). Love it, but since 21st of December it has had little or no use - so frustrating. Watching your review just makes me want to get that Mod 2 out of the way so that I can blast about without a bloody care in the world.....

I have an '18 ST, decat pipe, V&H mufflers with the dB killers removed, DNA air filter, Booster Plug, and a 6-piston front caliper. Bike is great to ride, has smoother and powerful acceleration, doesn't pop or bang on decelleraton, and the 6-piston brakes inspires a lot more confidence than the OEM 2-piston. It's not an intimidating bike at all, my youngest daughter likes to ride it around the neighborhood, to get experience (she got her license last year but doesn't have a bike of her own yet). It has the best riding ergonomics of the bikes that I currently have, except the seat on my '07 BMW K1200S is WAY more comfortable for longer trips.

I bought a BMW K1200R in '05. A magic bike for sure. Unfortunately it was damaged in '08 but that is another story. I drove 11,000 miles in 3.5 short summer seasons with the BMW. But now installing the TEC camshaft in my '16 ST with X-pipe, DNA air filter and a booster plug. I will reprogram the bike with TuneECU and probably disable the O2 sensors too. And the booster plug will not be needed anymore. I like the stock mufflers, and I don't believe they will restrict the power. After all it is still a low power bike, even with around 70 hp.

You’ve really inspired my interests in this classic and timeless British icon 🇬🇧 Since I was a young child , I remember my older brother had a 69 Triumph Bonneville 650 , and I’ve always longed for one like it . My other brother rides a Harley Sportster 1200 , he’s always trying to talk me into buying one , but I’m gonna roll up in his driveway on my Triumph Street Twin and make him jealous lol 😂 I won’t even look at other bikes , Triumph is it ! Although I'm not fond of that 'whistle' noise in modern Triumph engines, I do like the deeper, throatier burble of these stock mufflers/silencer vs. those on the T100 & T120. When I bought mine second hand from a dealer without even trying it, I was very nervous and worried, saying to myself " oh god what have I done" it's heavier than my previous cb500f that I used to have 5 years earlier and It have been a long since I ride a proper big bike. As soon as I started it a rode off I was shocked at how easy a low the centre of gravity was, it's like I used to ride it long time before, heck! It felt so easy to ride that I can even highly recommend it to do the full motorcycle test on it. The only thing It lacks is the full lock of the steering which I found it quite small.

My initial thought when your review popped up was; Street Twin review? It's been around since 2016 with only a few modifications. But, nicely done. I enjoyed watching it. Your camera work was great. I respectfully couldn't disagree more on the Street Twin sounding better than the Speed Twin though. I've heard both literally side by side, and well I guess it comes down to personal preferences. They both sound fantastic, stock, but the Speed Twin had me cheering in the showroom.

Great value for money Satish. If it comes with a Triumph used warranty and service history, I'd be confident buying a used one for sure.

@@EddieSetGo I am looking at used 2017 Street Twin and Street Cup with very low mileage 8k and 11k kms respectively. Can't seem to decide on which one to get, a racing yellow Street Cup or basic Street Twin.

My 18 model had a recall on the cable stay for the cable / harness on the left side of the frame at the steering neck. I removed the stay so the cable and harness could relax. Looked fine to me. Too confining at first. Too neat.
@user-rf9me7xm1w
@user-rf9me7xm1w 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Larry, I think the stay was added to keep the loom away from the headlight bracket but mine is nowhere near that. But as you say, the harness does seem a bit tight with the modification in place. Mine actually creaks when I put it on full lock. I’ll try your idea and test it out, thanks for the tip. The brand new ST seems to have only one thick cable in this area so it looks like some modification has taken place. Best wishes.

Hey Matthew. I think this is a perfect first bike. Low seat. Wide bars. Loads of fun power that will keep you smiling. It looks great too :) I'd double check how the bike feels with your feet on the pegs. With a low seat height it might put bend in the knees with your height. So do test ride for a good hour before buying.
