I had a 1972 tr6 c with high pipes ad I never owned another with high pipes, but those do look awesome. having them coated black is the secret, and the line matches your tank design perfectly. Nice looking bike, really changed the whole character. I think I would opt for powder coating the brackets and heat shields as it is a more durable finish and does not get that hot to matter. they even have in some shops hi heat powder coating. The Cerakot stuff is well applied by certified shops, but essentially the same stuff you can buy in a rattle can. It is the prep that makes the difference. Without a shop most guys can't get a quality long lasting finish. In my experience it lasts about a year or so, but starts to degrade at the header outlet because of the drastic heat changes there. Really like the look, very nice.
@mancavemoto6 жыл бұрын
Cool. The guys offer a two year guarantee on the Cerakote, but you are right as with all paint and coatings, prep is themost important part
@DEeMONsworld6 жыл бұрын
Views from the Man Cave darn you Tony, now you got me looking at high pipes, even though I don't like the heat, those look cool. and then, I found a set at nearly half price with a few slight scratches that would hide quite nicely under ceramic paint or powder coat. I can only hope someone buys them before I get a whim.

Hi Tony, great video. I have the same exhaust, not sure if Euro or USA spec but looks same as yours. Ref. the baffle removal, do you need to take back section off and pull back through or does the baffle pull out of the back end please? There is a screw on the underside of the carbon end so I assume this is something to do with the baffle. Can’t see any circlip/spring clips though! Regards. Paul.
@mancavemoto4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul, mine was a US spec. If you have the hole in the end cap and can see a bolt in it then it sounds like you have the same. There is no circlip on this exhaust, just undo the bolt underneath, grab the baffle with some pliers and give it a tug.....

Quick one: I have the same exhaust and I was thinking to fit around an heat wrap to give a black look, instead of going all the way to paint it. Do you think it would be possible to do it, or the shape of the exhaust prevents it? Can I disassemble just the heat plate and run it below it? Thanks!

It would be a little tricky to wrap given its design and fitting, but not impossible. Although if you buy the correct wrap, it might not end up being much cheaper, if at all. Just depends on what look you prefer

Hi Tony Great vids and very useful. Im in the process of removing my 2-1 Vance and Hines to have it ceramic coated. Ive heard that Zircotec do a coating that is applied hot and was wondering if you have heard of this process and if its as good as the one you have? Also I noticed that when I removed the mufler that there is a section of perforated tube that is welded to the end section that inserts into the mufler. I think you may know where this is going......I dare say that this serves a purpose, possibly as a sound baffle and maybe to do with the fueling and creating back pressure. Needless to say Im thinking of taking the grinder to it, but thought it was worth asking your advice before proceeding. Hope you dont mind me picking your brains and thanks once again for posting your excellent videos, they have been most useful in the blacking out of all the silver bits on my street twin. Regards Mick
@mancavemoto6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mick and thanks. From what I can see Zircotec is just another brand name, and although I couldn't comment on the difference to Cerakote, I can say that I've been really pleased with it and it does keep the pipes noticeably cooler. In terms of the 'perforated tube' personally, I would leave it alone. Cutting it off isn't going to gain you any power, in fact, it might make it run not so well?! it might make it louder, but that exhaust with the removable baffle out sounds so good anyway, and any louder than it is would be obnoxious!
