Very good review!! I just found it and it covered all questions one has, if you are about to "...see a dealer and know what to look at...." . Good quality of the pics and sound, which is not usual on other reviews. Congratulations! Very good job! Thank you!

I stumped for the Standard as it was a left over 2016 at the price of a new Street twin!! I can say if one our rides the standard's suspension and brakes they are in trouble because this thing can be pushed hard and still gives excellent feed back and handles impecably. Very happy with my 58th motorbike purchase in 56 years of riding.

That sounds like a bargain Ray. Wow that’s a lot of bikes! Ride Safe

Nice review. I rode this exact bike from Jack Lilley this past weekend. I did manage to change mode while riding. When you hit the mode button it flashes for a few seconds so roll off and pull clutch during those few seconds and it'll change. In other words you don't need to roll off, pull clutch and hit mode button all at the same time.

Great review. Very informative. Does it sound different / quieter / louder than the street twin?
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bob, it has the same 270 degree crank, but the extra capacity and shorter end cans give it more of a rumble. It didn't seem any louder

Great review, I'm getting the standard version jet black exactly because of the reasons you mention. Although the R extras come in handy in aggressive riding, the bright gold of suspension and forks kinda spoils the overall style. Getting brown seat and handlebars to go with the black.

Sounds great Pedro, and thanks for your comments. I'm hoping to try a standard Thruxton soon.

Hi. Just found this great review thanks. Out of interest I am a new rider just completing my direct access. You say its good for new riders.Would this bike be suitable for me. I am not a young guy (42) and pretty responsble. I have been looking at a 2017 T120 but keep looki g at the Thruxton. Thanks

Hi Michael, make no mistake its a quick bike, but its not intimidating. The power delivery is smooth, the ride is rock solid and the Brembo brakes are immense!

Views from the Man Cave Thats great thanks for the input. My instructor has already said I should be fine on any bike as long as I respect the power/throttle etc.
@mancavemoto7 жыл бұрын
Michael Collins Yep, it’s not going to give you any surprises if you treat it with respect. You could always start off in Rain Mode until you get the feel of the bike?

Views from the Man Cave I was thinking exactly the same thing myself! Will have to get a test ride on one and maybe a T120. Thanks for the advice

You also get Brembo brakes with the "R" version.

Road, Rain and Sport modes can be changed on the move with the clutch in and the throttle closed....
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Thanks midas61, I was informed when I picked up the bike only to change modes when stationary. I did try it on the fly, but it just reverted back to the set program. I guess i never had both the throttle and clutch 'closed' on my attempts. Thanks for pointing that fact out

Supernova12034 Exactly, loads of torque, that kicks on without being snappy. A joy to ride

Really good review, I appreciate it. The issue you mentioned regarding clicking into first gear, may have been a one-off on this particular bike - I have about 2500 miles on mine and have not had that problem. One thing that can't be overstated is the bike is more fun than can be said. The thrust coming out of a '30 mph' turn in 4th has to be experienced. You can roll through that bend at 45 or 50 then add the beans and you'll be doing 80 in a quick moment with an involuntary grin of surprise and delight!
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm sure it was only an issue with that bike. It is such a fun bike to ride and the brakes are phenomenal.

@looseparts @Views from the Man Cave what do you think about this bike vs. the BMW R nine T? I have a decision between the two and i can't make up my damn mind. i love them both, but i feel the R nine T is a more multi-purpose bike whereas the thruxton r is just good for a short ride ( < 60 minutes).
@looseparts8 жыл бұрын
Most of my rides are 2 hours or less and since I've never been on an R nine T, I can't compare.
@mancavemoto8 жыл бұрын
+JinkProject Tough call, both great bikes. I disagree and think the Truxton is equally good for longer rides. Best thing to do is test ride both for a day and but the one you love. Don't read too many reviews......
