Triumph Tiger 1050 revival (13/20): Solved (hot)start & stalling issue with MOSFET Voltage Regulator

Its not no charging issue i know that for a fact because of experience an changing parts i even put lithium battery wit 500 CCAs and nun..its something else these triumph is a pain total pain. Maybe higher gauge wire you use mite help. How is it going did the issue fixed ?

I had no problems since changing the regulator, stator, and battery. In time I’ll be able to discern better but for now it seems ok

Ook cool, probably you didn't go on a long ride to really test. Because i have lithium battery full of power when start battery is charging 14+ volts and when i go on ride before i start the bike my battery is on 13+ volts so its not no stator, regulator or battery.

@BeastMode-yl5ow I've done a 3k ride in the Alps when hot weather this summer -with zero issue, and some commuting. For me thats not enough to be sure but it's something. Charging problems are always related to the stator, battery or voltage regulator. Could be a relay or fuse but thats another story. If your battery is of a good brand and suited for the bike (correct parameters) then you should measure the output on the regulator and resistance in the stator coils. If your bike is draining the battery its a stator or regulator issue.

I want to find a 210 amp battery on a Triumph Sprint ST 1050, but there are no suitable sizes, all are large. 180 amps is not enough for these bikes.

No worries mate. 180CCA (Not Amps) is enough with a good working charging system. In theorie the stater engages with 50 to 70 Amps, without the load. To turn the crank in cold conditions you need more but not 210Amps. I know these bikes have strong compression. However, less suitable battery will give you 210 CCA of power. Although mine has 200CCA (check te links), the system does not need it. Usually the issue lays in the charging system. That is insufficient charging and gives starting problems. Battery should always be at minimum +12.5V

@Ciderwinder Varta arguably is the best battery brand in the world. BMW, Toyota, Audi, Mercedes uses them… Nice to know: the batteries in the camera of Neil Armstrong on the moon in 1969 were Varta. Been using them forever and trust it 100%. Personally: Yuasa has been a sad disaster on my Tiger - although was before I replaced all the electrics with premium parts. It’s not only the CCA limit that counts and quality is measured in other parameters. However, thanks for sharing and if it works for you or helps others choose all the better
