Thanks for this excellent review. I find this style of real life ride review so much more useful than the press reviews which focus much more on racing the bike at high revs and pushing it to its limits on road. 👍

I find it amusing people think 80 bhp is inadequate, back in the day a Kawasaki Z750 had less, yet comfortably took me to the south of France and back on more than one occasion. Would cruise at 80 plus and topped out well over a ton. Kids today pah ... 😆

Enjoying your reviews, couple of points I’d make. In my experience you need at least 1000mls on any suspension system to allow them to lose their stiction and become more fluid in their operation. They’re fully bedded in at about 2000mls. I’ve fitted Royal Enfield hand guards on all my bikes. They look good quality, very sturdy and cost £38ish on eBay. Used them on Triumph Bonneville T100, Tiger 850 Sport, Enfield 500classic trails and SWM Superdual 650 to date.

Great review. Have you tried the BMW GS1250? Another nice bike but I no longer have any need for a practical bike, just something for fun.
@TAYM2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. The BMW doesn’t attract me for some reason. I did look at an 800 but decided against it for various reasons. I think all motorcycles are fun really, just that some require additional features.

Yes they're all fun but nowadays I ride more for my enjoyment. The 500 Classic would be more fun than a BMW. Hope you find something you will be happy with.

@@TAYM haha. Excellent video too btw. Was really good to see some more realistic use of the Tiger with less focus on jail-worthy riding haha. I am planning to do my DAS this year and I’m thinking the Tiger is the winner for my first big boy bike. It looks like the perfect combination of sporty-ness and comfort for me. As I use my bike for commuting every day and all year round (except when icy) and head up to some twisty country roads pretty much every weekend so having the balance of both is important to me. I have been looking at picking it up with the QuickShifter, heated grips, panniers and the comfort seat on an HP. Do you think the bike seems approachable enough from someone coming straight from a 125?
@TAYM Жыл бұрын
@@taydan04 that mid sized adventure style market place is packed with great bikes and the tiger 660 is one of the best but you should try some of the others. Everything from the Benelli TRK to the KTMs . Don’t think you will have any problems at all 😁

Beautiful bike!!! Is it worth the money and di you think is beginner friendly? Thanx and cheers ✌️
@TAYM9 ай бұрын
It is on a par with most other mid size adventure bikes but a bit light on the tech🤔 it’s lighter than most and easy to handle so as long as you are sensible and not vertically challenged it should be fine as a second bike 😁

Anything about the ground clearance of the bike ? How good or bad is it ? Mangeable for daily city commute as well ? Or may be slight offroad is worth a risk ?
@TAYM2 жыл бұрын
The ground clearance isn’t fantastic and the exhaust is very low so any depth of water and you might have issues. I didn’t get to take it off road as wasn’t allowed but some of the back roads around here are a tad rough and it handled them really well. As a commuter it would be great but I think there are better bikes. I have taken just about every type of bike off road and found most far more capable than you would imagine and I would think that due to the 660’s light weight it would be fine. Hope that helps. It is a very nice bike.
@JourneyThroughNature2 жыл бұрын
@@TAYM thanks for that info. Though this is not a true adventure bike most people talking about this bike is missing the point about ground clearance (let me tell you it matters a lot here in India). With the bike officially launching in 2 weeks from now I wanted have all info possible on these aspects.
@TAYM2 жыл бұрын
@@JourneyThroughNature something else I didn’t mention was the fact it doesn’t come with a centre stand, which is a pain but if it did you would have less clearance.

This was another bike that slightly disappointed me when it came out. That's not saying it's a bad bike but I was expecting a lighter weight adventure style bike with the same design language as the bigger Tigers and what came out was something that appears to be a sports tourer road bike that is excessively tall for seemingly no real reason. I'm sure it's a fantastic bike but I don't really see it fitting in with the Tiger family and perhaps they should have given it a different name.

Once again Mike, you summed it up pretty well😊 and I think they are like £10k now 🤔
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff2 жыл бұрын
Adjusting that pre-load on the rear shock will not change the damping characteristics of the ride. Pre-load is there to compensate for weight on the bike, e.g. pillion, to get the shock back near the top of its stroke.
@TAYM2 жыл бұрын
Does that mean it will keep it’s handling without knocking my fillings out on the bumpy Suffolk roads?
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff2 жыл бұрын
@@TAYM No😁. Nothing is going to change that firm feeling on this bike. You are right in saying your handling would of suffered but your teeth are still going to lose their fillings! You can get whatever ride you want out of the Tiger 900, sporty firm or plush cruiser like and everything in between, all models have adjustable damping which is very easy to adjust. Take a flat bladed screwdriver with you on your test ride for the rear shock and the front can be done by hand. Amongst other things this is one of the reasons you pay a premium for the 900.

@@TAYM Excellent, yes, I think it is worth it for what you are gaining. Part 2 not too far away.
@MichaelWilliams-jc2ui2 жыл бұрын
I beg to differ, if someone’s wound the preload all the way in and you have a solo rider the n you’ll have very, little possibly zero, sag so the whole of the stroke will not be available. Also if it’s a progressive spring you may have taken out the light weight springs, it will feel stiff as hell kill the bump absorption substantially.
