Very good review NTP! I own a Tiger 660, recently covered around 4000km in few weeks, mostly in mountain roads between the north of Spain and southern France. I am 170cm tall and did ride with the wife plus plenty of luggage. No issues whatsoever with the handling or the suspension, although you have to understand how it works. It's in the sporty side and doesn't excel in broken tarmac. It prefers smooth conditions. Also, suspension wise, people have to be realistic and understand that this is not a BMW 1250GS/RT/RS. Even with full preload, going fast with plenty of weight at the back will transform the experience. You can still go quick, but you've got to watch the road and mind the rear suspension squatting. Nothing dangerous, you just have to respect what it tells you. Once you understand that, you can enjoy the ride very much. Also, having tested the Michelin Road 5 in other bikes and plenty of other brands, I will say that this tires make no justice to the bike. They are okay, but I'm sure you can find a better tires-suspension teamwork with tires like the Continental RoadAttack. I don't mean that a softer compound will suit this bike better. Its the tire itself, the whole structure is too hard. The suspension performs superbly, but it seems like these Michelin tires are made for really heavy bikes. With the lugagge and the wife they perform a lot better. More weight on them will make them perform a lot better. You can feel this poor handling when the road is wet. There's grip, but you lose it often due to how hard the tire is, not the compound. Engine performance wise, I was a bit doubtful with the 80hp but the punch of the three cylinder really makes up for it. It's a quick accelerating bike, great for overtaking, great for having a blast, great for touring, no matter the weight you are carrying, but mind that it's not BMW 1250GS fast. Overall its a great option for touring with the wife and also great for sporty riding. Reminder: Half the price of a BMW 1250RS/GS/RT will get you probably half of the overall performance. The Tiger is a great option if you want a sweet, punchy, sporty bike, and it's not too thirsty (5L/100km giving it full beans). Also, I did fit silicone gel in the whole seat for better riding comfort. Highly reccomended for those travelling 4hour plus per day. I hope with this review I can help those willing to take the risk and buy this bike. Buy it, you will not miss your shot :-) Cheers!

I traded in 2021 z900 for new tiger, it should arrive this month. Didnt test ride but it seems to be in same category as my old bmw f700gs was, probably a bit sportier. Cant wait for bike to arrive. Almost bought street triple last year but dealer didnt know when they would be available so i went with z900. Great machine, engine is just wow. But i did 11000km in year and for longer rides it was kinda nightmare. Neck and butt/hips hurt from seating postion, even with bars raised. If tiger will be anything like f700gs comfort wise, think i will stick with it for quite some time.

Actually a very good overall bike. I fell in love with the Trident and fall out of love when I realized how impractical it is(can't carry pilion, top and side box, basically a one person bike). I believe this is Triumph's attempt to woo old riders like me who commute everyday and did a fantastic job! Good job Triumph! And to you as well, Mr! The way you review bikes makes me feel like I'm going on a test ride and the immersion I feel makes me understand the bikes actual on road behavior. More power to this great channel! 👍👍👍

The Trident 660 is a very good looking bike indeed. My wife and I considered it. We then bought the Tiger Sport 660 instead. Better suspension, better pillion accommodation, and better luggage options. A more realistic prospect for practical use rather than just day rides for pleasure. Certainly the Trident looks like it has more attitude, and I see many more of them on the road than I see of the Tiger. However, where the quiet innocuous exhaust note is not out of place on a commuter/tourer, it really doesn't fit with the image of the Trident. The Trident looks like a bad boy's bike but sounds like a good boy's bike. Just my opinion, and I am sure the many happy Trident owners will disagree.

To be honest: with 6.1 (189 cm), after riding the Trident, I expect a lot & was quite upset, felt even uncomfortable after short time riding. Especially the seat & the leg-position. Much more fun to ride the trident, or even better: the Speed Twin (wich fits better in the Monster-group) 😂🥰 (but I guess for shorter driver should be ok) 🤷🏻♂️ thx for the vid 👍🏻👍🏻

I think this bike is a solid winner for a solo rider looking for an all arounder or lightweight ST, even tho it's missing cruise control and space for a passenger. I'm hoping Triumph rectifies these matters w/a more touring/passenger-oriented Tiger Sport 1100/1200, kinda like the old ST model.

TECH FACTS: The TRIUMPH TRIPLE ENGINE: *Does not* require as 'much' Torque, as or because the 'Triple engines' gearing ratios and mid range Horse power is *excellent*, and/ So where at 55 HP in 6th gear at 65 MPH Cruising, the Triple still has more RPM head room. So, I'm not complaining about a few points difference in torque, when that, or 'where you actually need the torque', and at what HP to Rpm range you are in, for cruising is where the 'performance' is.

I always wondered why I liked my Tracer 700 so much. It's due to the lightness. I sold it because I couldn't get on with the upright riding stance. I felt as thouth I should have been smoking a pipe. But it was great around corners and I'd recommend it. I do like a bit of traction control, however. That would make a difference for me.

Well, at my height (178cm & inseam 32") I'd take the taller bike, more leg room & more wind protection, so the T9 would fit me best of the 3 you list, but it's also a lot more money than the T7 or 660. Hi Looking at a lightweight sport/adventure In terms of performance how noticeable is increased power on F900XR. This or the F900XR?
@NothingToProve Жыл бұрын
You will notice the difference in power, it is significant but in different places in the RPM range. The XR is a little lower and this is a little higher (about 2k) for the same feel, so this uses hp & the XR uses torque. You will be shifting more on this to keep the RPMs up, whereas the XR you can just leave it in a higher gear and torque your way out of a corner. take care, Scott

Thanks Scott Such a tricky choice. Really fancy the Yamaha XSR900 but it’s not very practical. Had a go on the Monster but it was too much with too loud racing pipes, also in town traffic always between 1st and 2nd gear. Need to find some luggage for the XSR900 then it would be a winner
