Hi. Thinking of fitting the Evotech mount and Garmin XT to my 900. Have you so far had any problems with the interference from the TFT screen, there have been reports of it effecting the GPS in the Garmin XT (I presume that is the model you fitted ?). Many Thanks.

Well it is DrJ's bike. He has reported no such issues. However, his is an 850 Sport which has a different TFT I think 👍

Thanks for this helpful vid……as I am Now equipped to duplicate your process. Please tell me if it is true that an application of either the 850’s brake lever or pedal simultaneously converts the rear signal lights into auxiliary brake likes? Thanks again…from BC, Canada.

Hopefully helpful. 🤞 Not seen any indicators behaving as brake lights riding behind DrJ. I believe BMW may use such a system.

And another question! When you pulled the cable up through under the tank where did you put the little black box that is connected to drop the voltage. Is it connected to the frame by zip ties ?

It should be clear in the video. We connected the gps power lead to the ignition switched acc line under the seat. The voltage regulator is at that end. Using my patented giant cable tie (zip tie) method we eased the power lead to the front. It easily traversed the brake line channel. After that a few small cable ties under the seat to frame tidy everything up, plenty of wire. Comes on with ignition. Switches off when ignition off. 👌

Thanks for that, but I would be fixing it to a Thunderbox which is placed by the battery so would need to hid the voltage box higher up under the tank area as there is not much room in where the battery is !

DrJ has a Thunderbox in there also. All fits fine

Hi guys. Nice GPS mounting. I have Tiger 900. I mounted mine on the handlebars bit of a stretch for me at the screen. Just on another topic re Givi pannier rack quick release. Have you had any issues with it. I'm thinking of fitting it to my Givi racks. My only concern is all the weight is taken by the locking pins. Just worried these may fail from constant pounding on out crap roads here in Australia.

GPS is now in good position. No probs with quick release so far, but we just don't have the distances / amazing roads you have; difficult to say 👍

Hi, just been in the garage and found that switch plug on my 850sport. Question, did your Garmin plug into the Tiger plug, or did you have to cut the plug off? If so how did you make the connection please?
@CodgerBiker2 жыл бұрын
Do not cut off the plug. It’s pretty standard on many bikes of all makes. We just used off the shelf plugs. One on the positive and one on the ground. Easy to check with a meter. You could just push the wires in and tape them up. So long as you have polarity correct it will be fine.

@@CodgerBiker do you know the plug type or what it’s called?
@CodgerBiker2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. From memory they are just simple blade connectors. Easy to obtain and can be crimped or soldered on the end of your GPS lead. Just make sure you check + and -. Nothing to it. For testing we just pushed the wires in, no connector at all.

I wish you had shown the wire connection 😢

I did. It's an OEM plug under the seat. Switched by ignition. At around 5 mins.

After owning my Triumph Tiger 900 for 8 months now and after trying out so many things, there remains to be a BIG compromise to me. There seems to be no decent way to mount a Garmin or Tom Tom GPS on eye level position. I tried mounting on handlebars....no thank you (to dangerous to look down all the time) I tried this Evotech mount...no thank you( the screen vibration makes it totaly unreadable). I think the mounting spots used by evotech are not the way to go. TEST ? ....Start your engine and feel the difference with your fingers around 2500 RPM, comparing on a mid handlebar spot and a top windscreen spot. There's the problem with the tiger 900 Please, if anyone has a solution, send it, post it, comment it, suggest it

Dr J has had no such issues with his Garmin Zumo XT 👍

I have the same issue with mine, very vibey and quite annoying. There is another one that tightens to the windscreen adjuster bar which is no where near as vibey. The only issue is the gps goes up n down with the screen which is why I went with the evotech but I am thinking of swapping back. PS if you go with the other one make sure everything is tight and locktight used otherwise it will loosen on the ride.

Are you OK Codger? I'm sure I heard you saying that a motorcycle looked better without its screen! 🤔😂
