The best thing about the Tiger 800 was the sound of the 3 cylinder engine, this new 900 engine got the horrible sound, Triumph disappointed me.

+1 While long due and remarkable improvements and inventions have been applied for the new engine (e.g. 1-piece aluminium liner, re-positioning of the engine in the frame, and more importantly bigger displacement) there is one thing I think a true Triple-Fan will never buy into: new crank and firing order. We love true-triples for their super-smooth, natural and linear character, often whining sound. This is why I still ride & enjoy a BMW K75 or ride my `18Tiger800 , which might already a tiny bit less Triple than ealier years. I tried & ditched the Yamaha cross-plane MT-09 and for a similar reason I will probably never buy into the new T900, which seems to me , sorry for my wording-, a Franken-Triple. Probably, the new T900 has really improved on terrain and lower speed, however one tester in India reported that the new engines` vibration cause more fatigue on a longer ride on pavement. I still value Triumph being a consistent and sole brand of the Triples for decades, but the new T900 crank and firing order puts me off. Triumph builds good marketing around this like Yamaha, but I am disappointed, as well.

@@yellowbearworks2535 I tried the 900 and it does have a hand numbing vibration even at low rpm.

I have no idea what the hell you guys are talking about. I just rode the new Tiger 900 today and it sounded AMAZING. Probably the best sounding engine I've ever ridden. I'm in love with the new trend of cross-plane crankshafts, it's one of the best things to happen to motorcycling.
