Message to Triumph : “Triumph please offer us the Tiger 900 GT with tubeless spoked wheels; then a lot of riders (like me) would really be very interested in buying one. Why: Because a lot of riders prefer 19 inches front wheel to have more fun in twisty roads, because we prefer tubeless spoked wheels & because the Rally model is a little bit to tall for shorter riders. Best regards.”
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
On the GT the front wheel is 19 inches, just not spoked. Maybe if you ask a dealer they could get spoked wheels for you.
@trekkydelirium-vroom58214 жыл бұрын
EnglishBikerDan : thanks for reply, but Tiger 900 are already expensive bikes; it would be very expensive to buy 2 new spoked tubeless wheels as accessories; what would be nice is a cheap swap of wheels for the GT as a kind of cheap affordable option.

I was a bit torn between what I preferred in terms of the GT or the Rally. The GT is a very easy confident bike, to be fair the difference with the 21inch front of a rally made you work a little harder, but to be fair I may have given me a bit of a bigger smile!
@chrishart85484 жыл бұрын
Just like the older 800xr the cast wheel version makes very little sence. On the used market you cant give them away. Plus you get more groung clearance (corner angle) on the rally.
@terenceokeeffesmotorcyclestuff3 жыл бұрын
You are getting confused over what preload is for. It is not there to make the rear shock “stiff” or otherwise. It is to set where the shock sits in its stroke under different loads for optimum travel, both ways. If you want to “stiffen” the bike add more damping front and rear.
@Englishbikerdan3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I've since understood what it actually does. Although to a simple person like me, twiddling the preload makes it feel stiffer. Ooer!

Far more enthusiastic about this new Tiger than the 900XR I note. I will test ride both once global (!) circumstances improve - but for me the Triumph would be handier simply because the dealer's far closer.

It's an unfair comparison really as I was on the BMW on a lunch break and for less than an hour. I had the Tiger for about 4 hours on a day off. I actually like both bikes and would struggle to choose between them. I need to get on the 900XR again and for longer. Hoping to do that once I lockdown is lifted. 👍

Hello, excellent review thanks for your time and the precision of your presentation. Quick request : If you have to make the choice between the new BMW F900XR and this Tiger GT Pro, what is your choice ? Best regards from Switzerland.
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
Tough to answer as both are good bikes. I only rode the F900XR for about an hour so I would definitely need more time on that before making a choice. I would say the BMW is more sports touring whereas the Triumph would be better adventure/long distance touring with a bigger tank and more room for rider/pillion. Pricewise the BMW seems cheaper at around £9,800 as stock until you start adding all the bits that the GT Pro already has. Once you add everything, the BMW gets to around £12,000. The Triumph GT Pro at this point is only an extra £800 with all the bells and whistles. I think it comes down to what sort of bike you want. The BMW to me feels much more sports touring focused than the Triumph but the Triumph is also way sportier than you would ever imagine from looking at it. I honestly don't know which I would choose right now as I like both!

I couldn't get on with it. Coming from a Street Triple I felt the T-Plane crank lumpy and buzzy. Can't see the point in Triumph going down this route when the Triple is meant to offer the best of both worlds. They should have used a detuned Speed Triple engine like the old Tiger 1050 sport. Unless you are riding the Rally version I can't see the point of going off road on what is a "Road" focused bike so the T-Plane just seems daft.

The issues with the Tiger 900 GT (Pro) is wheel size and engine. A road bike that will never see offroad use don't need that T crank. It adds vibration and makes is less smooth. Add to the extremely limited tire choices and i'd rather get the Yamaha Tracer 900 GT. I tested both, one after the other and the Tracer is a better road bike. More sporty, better for long rides (although not as comfortable as the Tiger to ride) and more fun factor. If triumph made the GT (Pro) a 120/60-17 front and 160/55-17 or 180/50-17 rear, i would have bought one when i was looking at new bikes in May.

I believe production was moved to Thailand, where my 2014 Tiger 1200 Explorer was made. The build quality was fantastic, however, the quality of materials in some areas was disappointing. Within 3 years and 20,000 miles, the exhaust headers had corroded right through, costing nearly £1000 to replace as they could not be welded. The rear shock also collapsed at 40k which I guess isn't too bad, expecially as most of my riding was commuting into London. Loved it I want to try this bike now 😁 can the seat be lowered 🤔 maybe a bit too tall for me tho 😩
@Englishbikerdan4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jane, the seat lowers down but you can also get a lowering kit installed by the dealer to lower it even further. 👍

I actually think it's pretty decent considering I'm riding a bike. But by all means please pass on on any expert tips you have. 👍

Exactly the same models; just different names. 900 Rally Pro = 800 XCa, 900 Rally = 800 XCx, 900 GT Pro = 800 XRt, 900 GT = 800 XRx, 900 GT Low = 800 XRx Low, 900 = 800 XR.

Tried one before the lockdown. Didn’t like it much and my partner didn’t like being a pillion on it. I think a triple should remain a smooth triple and a twin should remain a twin. Not really an innovation. It’s a lot of money, by the time you’ve bought luggage etc. It’s just another ugly duckling.

All these bikes are getting so expensive even a well kitted out 650 verseys would be more like the right sort of price.
@paulneedham36084 жыл бұрын
you can not compare verseys 650 has nice has it is to the tiger 900 . i have a versys 1000 . thing tiger may be a bit smaller .than my vereys 1000 but performace is not far behind. a lot lighter too.
@chrishart85484 жыл бұрын
@@paulneedham3608 I just mean on a price point. In most peoples minds the versys 650 price now over £7k soon too be £8k before long. That's what most people would expect to pay for 1000cc bike. The honda crf1100l adventure sports is a lovely bike but with the dct box it's loads of money.really doesn't seem justified
@petewebb69524 жыл бұрын
Chris Hart i think the new Tiger 900 with kit would cost about £14k
@paulneedham36084 жыл бұрын
@@petewebb6952 sadly new bikes nowadays with sort of tech will cost this sort of money. But there is lots of more realistic priced bikes . But you pay your money and take your choice. That's the beauty of it.
