I bought a 05 in orange this year, I'm under 6' so wound the shock to position 2 and custom seat on low. Treated myself to new boots with thick soles, just flat footing now. Love riding it and not regretting selling my Street Triple. Touring resumes this weekend.

Glad to have found your channel as not many tiger955 riders on here it seems. I’ve had mine since 2018 though I don’t think I’ve been so lucky with it. Bought at 30k and it’s now at 66k, it’s been through a stator, 3 batteries, coil pack, thermostat housing, plus all the regular servicing stuff, endless oil and coolant leaks, a fuel balance pipe leak, parts are much harder to find now so had to get creative and use random bits of eBay and modify. It’s definitely been more costly to keep on the road than my previous bike SV650 but at least one thing is certain, this engine does not disappoint and it’s very comfortable.

I had a 2004 955 cast wheel for, a few years and had the same problem with charging, mine was due to 2 problems rectifier and battery. Changed both and instead of Yuasa battery fitted an Exide one, same amps as Yuasa and also Exide is OEM battery or BMW at half the price. Fitted a amp meter so always knew if everything was charging and no problems after that, changed bulbs in clocks for LED so you can see the warning lights during the day which made a big difference when sunny. I do agree they do have a tendency to have a nap! And is why I fitted R&G crash bobbins, saved the tank a couple of times, but you are not a proper 955 owner until you drop it in the car park. Unfortunately due to a bad knee have had to change mine for a lighter Tiger 800, this is when you realise who much power the old 955 has, is definitely one of those bikes you are sad to see go. Hope the next owner has as much fun. Keep up the good work and ride safe Dave.

I put 35,000+ miles on a 2001 955i over seven years and loved my Tiger. I'm only 5'8" but had no problems handling it.I went on to the 2008 Tiger 1050 and didn't like it near as much. Since then I've had 2021 and 2023 Tiger 900 GT Pro which brought me back to loving Tigers again.

I bought my black 955i in March 2002 an enjoy riding it since then. A couple of years ago, I changed the suspension to Wilbers, what a transformation… Intend to keep the bike until it is a real oldie….A few technical issues with the battery and electric wiring, but basically extremely reliable… Regards and good riding from Hamburg, Germany

@johannesmarg6903
@johannesmarg6903 2 ай бұрын
@@TheDvdspeler Sorry, missed your question…… I have a Wilber’s 641 rear shock installed instead of the stock. Forgot the exact name of the front suspension I got installed,at the same time, do not have the papers near me right now. Did not install them myself, so I cannot really tell about that part. With the original suspension, the bike could become a bit wobbly, especially when loaded up. Not really bad, but always there. With the Wilber’s, the bike is absolutely rock-steady, like being on tracks, no wobbling going on. It really transformed the riding quality and gives you a feeling of absolute reliable grip at all times. The suspension was preset to my weight / Load by the manufacturer, I never needed to adjust it in the roughly 25.000 km with that kit. 😊 Downside: it comes at a very hefty price. At the time I treated myself with it, all in all it cost about as much as the official price for the bike was listed, about 2500 Euros. But, no regrets.😅 I just bought a 400x Scrambler as a supplement to the Tiger and, based on my positive experience with the 955s upgrade, think about to replace the suspension with one offered by Rally Raid. Since the 400 x ist more or less a budget bike ( but so much fun), the effect would probably be even more enjoyable. Ride safely! Johannes

P.s. I unblock my tank rain drain with some strong wire and use a drill bit in the bottom nipple as it seems it corrodes mainly at the bottom which causes the blockage. Just do it each time you have the tank off and you should be fine. Not fun going to fill up and then a bunch of water pours in, but I also found putting in a couple capfuls of methylated spirits will bind to the water and allow it to exit the tank in combustion a little smoother.

had one for a few years, decent bike, handled really well, but really heavy, wobbly steering at highway speed and no decent options for a steering damper and the tube tires are absolutely silly, one puncture left me off the bike for ages while i took the wheel out and had to unmount the tire and replace the tube. Switched to a sprint 1050st and solved all those problems, though the battery being under the petrol tank was silly,

THe circle chain tensioners are an absolute pain. Im 5'9 so on tippy toesor lean to the left so I can get one foot down. The seat adjustment does nothing :P Ive got a cooling issue and it over heads now. Its not the head gasket so Im thinking it might be the pump. Taking the tank off is a nightmare. I dont have a centre stand so changin tyres is a nightmare. Its also too top heavy so pickingh it up once its dropped is impossible (for me) alone which makes me nervous. But when it works, its amaizing. The fuel economy is pants though

@tripledaveridesagain Really? You're that touchy about a - valid, albeit a tad blunt - comment you make a silly reply about a top box that makes no sense followed by a schoolboy insult? I'm not quite sure how to tell you this, but prepare yourself: you are going to get occasional negative comments. Some may be valid like this one above, some may be ill informed and stupid. That's part and parcel of having a You Tube channel. Think before you make kneejerk replies, might I kindy suggest? The riser is meant to be staggered with the top of the stock screen. There should not be a gap - like you have - between the top of the screen and the riser. That defeats the whole purpose of the risers' design and also risks it being blown off at speed. That's what the original comment is referring to when they say it's ridiculous, I suspect.
