As a 35+ year rider, I added a TS660 to my garage last year, after a 30-minute test ride. The owner of my local dealership knows I've done thousands of miles on racetracks, and when I returned to the store so quickly, he said, "Didn't like it, huh?" Still grinning, I said, "Nope--I'm putting one of these in my garage!" I've owned many, many high-horsepower super-sport bikes, including the Tuono Factory still in my garage. This bike is way more fun than it has a right to be at its price-point. I nicknamed it "Cheap Thrills" because of the low $$. Definitely get the quick-shifter for this bike, and just wail through the gearbox while grinning and laughing in your helmet!

As a 47+ years rider of budget bikes, I added the Hornet 919 to my garage last year, after a 10 minute test ride for $2,500. My response falls under the sour grapes category, as I would thoroughly enjoy a TS660 and agree with your assessment. Although not on the same level, the way I would ride the TS660, reminds me of my '84 Honda CB650SC: just behind on HP and ft/lb, weight, 6 spds, etc. Hop on it and go for a short ride just for the fun of it. Hi tehere, I am a 45+ happy MT-07 owner with almost 20 years experience. I got a my2018 MT-07 years ago because I had back pain issues and gave up on weekend trips, just to use it as a daily commuter with more exitement than a scooter. Now my condition (herniated disc L5-S1 for those who are interested) is getting better, also because I've put some serious effort on loosing weight. Now I can go for the occasional sunday ride with the MT but if I ride for more than a couple of hours I feel that it somehow makes my lower back more sensible. I don't think is a position issue, more like the harshness of the MT rear suspension. It does not bother me on the 20 minutes daily commute, but it comulates on the long run. Long story short: I am looking for a 17" wheeled, 200ish kg or less bike that is not an elephant in the city and can take 300 / 400km trips on twisty roads. I've checked the datasheets and the Tracer 7 and Tiger sport are currently the best options under my search light. I expect the Tracer to be more gentle than the MT due to diffferent, longer swingarm and consequently longer travel. The Tiger seems to have an even (slightly) longer suspension travel than the Tracer. Can anybody that has owned (or tested properly) those bikes give some feedback about that? Thanks 😀 Here are the travels, fetched from owner manuals or manufacturer websites: MT-07: 130/130mm Tracer 7: 130/142mm Tiger sport: 150/150mm

Hi guys At 52 I finally got my license but bought a Yamaha in 2021. Been sat in a wheelchair some years because of MS. The first bike I bought was the 2022 Tracer 9GT. An ok but boring bike. At school I drove the MT07 and I’m sorry, the engine is so sluggish. Directly after securing my licence (yes the same day) I traded in my Tracer for a 2023 Triumph Speed Twin 1200. Lovely looking bike, oodles of grunt and that sound… just lovely. AND my wife loves it is comfy for the pillion rider as well. However… The Speed Twin isn’t a bike for long stretches so we need a second bike. My dealer has just taken delivery of the first 2024 Triumph Tiger 900 with more tech and higher hp and torque over the 2023 model. I Had wishes that the 660 would work for the two of us with bags and all but sadly the engine is insufficient for the weight. Otherwise a Really nice bike for a single rider. What else is on my maybe-list? The Moto Guzzi V100 of course. It is Awesome! It hasn’t got the liveliness of the Tracer 9 or the Tiger 900, but Boy does it have character and a lovely sounding V engine. And the pillion is much lower. That made my wife happy and she is rooting for my to go Anglo and Italian. Thanks for the upload!

It would be interesting to compare it with the 2023 Trident to see if Triumph has given it the same refinement and character that this one has. Personally I like the Trident better, it’s more aesthetically pleasing with its retro vibe, but listening to papa Yam talk about how neutered the Trident was back when he rode it the first time makes me wonder if Triumph decided that the Trident should be a step “below” the Tiger 660 in terms of performance. I could be getting into a Trident 660 soon but this one makes me think twice about it. Great video!

I have a 23 trident. I think the only reason he says that is cause he's comparing the trident to an mt07 (which has a really peppy throttle. And basically worse eveything else imo) and comparing the tiger to a versys which is alot lazier feeling. But really they handle about the same. Also the throttle lag is only really noticeable in neutral and with the clutch in. In gear it feels good, and with a quick shifter it feels even better. People say the dnk tune fixes all that anyway, which I will be doing right after the warranty is up

Sold it a couple of months ago, not a very good decision but adulting situations got in the way, now I want to get back to riding and want something in the same vibe as the MT but a bit more upscale and better looking. MT07 is the benchmark here IMO but I’m going to leave it outside the conversation for obvious reasons. Before buying my MT07 I tested a Trident 660 when it just came out in 2021, very refined and handsome bike, but the Yamaha was cheaper so I pulled the trigger, that was the only reason. Both bikes are amazing but each one offers a little bit different experiences on their own. I like more the classic looks though. 19:28 In my opinion that monotony is what makes MC trips so special. It makes you realize just how vast the country truly is because you're so exposed and fatigued by it. When you do it in s car it's kinda like flying, where you feel a bit like you teleported to the destination, and you don't get that sense of vastness. Definitely more comfortable, but it's not the deep, borderline-spiritual experience of riding a motorcycle.

Having tried the Tiger 660 Sport myself i have to say i’m baffled at you saying you want to fix the throttle. I think it should remain the way it is. Throttle on an Indian in sport mode for reference is too snappy and outright dangerous. Even the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade has better throttle control. Point is it’s a relaxed, yet sporty bike. And a relaxed throttle control is precisely why this is good as an entry level bike that you never need to upgrade away from. Right now i ride a VL1500 Intruder, and that’s 1 of 40 bikes i’ve ridden so far. And the Tiger 660 Sport is by far the best engine i’ve ever felt on a bike. The engine is perfect, originally i tried the Daytona, but realizing it was the same engine was enough to convince me. I love the 660 Sport, but one thing i will agree upon is the fact that it needs cruise control.

Im really debating between this Tiger 660, Trident 660 and the CB650-R. The Tiger makes most sense with wind protection I need and for luggage bags but Trident looks so much cooler and CB650-R is just awesome too and unique especially with the nice convenient new E clutch which would be very nice in city and traffic riding. But the Trident and CB650-R dont really have any options ive found for good wind protection. If I could have my perfect bike, it would be the 2024 CB650-R with a nice adjustable windshield like the Tiger with clean luggage bags. The Tiger Sport is everything I want except not my favorite looking. Tough decision although it's not ugly just obviously not as slick as a naked.

@@aToxicPotato338 Preciate the input there. So what your saying is, there might be some margin for improvement with 50/50 tires, but the 660 Tiger is simply biased more for the road. Its really the 800 you want for the off road stuff.

@@AllboroLCD yeah that's a fair assessment. It also doesn't have much ground clearance with the underslung exhaust. But my God is it fun on the road.

It seems I’ve finally found the bike I’m looking for. I’m a tall gentleman (6’5) getting back into motorcycling. Originally had a ninja 650 as my first bike. Want something similar but taller. Versys 650 is just meh - doesn’t excite me. This seems to fit what I’m looking for with that triple!

I agree. The perfect daily bike! I picked mine up used with 1700 miles and it has a cheap emgo top case. Can grab some quick groceries from the store or do some light sport touring. What a great bargain of a bike from Triumph! Too bad Yamaha hasn't stepped their game up with bikes like these recently. Yamaha used to offer bargain rippers like the OG Fz1 and Fz6 but they gave up on us UJM diehards and now Triumph is tearing them a new one in this segment. Yamaha step your game up!

Yo yammie you set the bike to "TRIP 1" setting, normally that wont give you what you wanted from the throttle. Set it to "TRIP 2" you ask for it, you'll get it. For the record Trip 2 make the engine more aggressive.

They are very different. Triumph is really a sport tourer like versys 650. Ktm is great off-road with 21 inch front tire.

You say the Michelin Pilot Road 6 is your favorite road tire. how do they compare to the Pirelli Rosso lV tires that I have on my Ducati 939 Supersport. please explain the difference if you can. Triumph had a test ride day so I tested around five bikes. I test road the Trident and it felt a little underwhelming for me. but I did try the Street Triple RS first. so it was hard to live up to that. and then I tried the 900 Tiger with the triple engine, and I was underwhelmed by that also. I expected more from it. it didn't seem to have any of the insane power of the Yamaha XSR 900 triple. now I wish I would've tried the tiger 660 instead of the Trident. please answer my tire question.
