Excellent job Chris, that was easy to follow and anybody else doing it should be able to follow your method with no problems.

Thanks, Barry. I appreciate that. Not great camera work this time, but between that and the Greasy Hands Garage guide, I agree that it's not too bad.

Great video, Chris! Wrestling the OD onto the gearbox can be a challenge! It would be helpful if we could grow a couple extra hands, each with eight long, skinny fingers!

I hear that. Made me more nervous than anything.

Good job and a step closer to getting the power train back in the car. When I fitted a new TR clutch operating shaft recently I found that tightening the retaining bolt at the outer end of the shaft caused everything to lock up. My analysis was that the the machining was out, giving an incorrect spacing between the position of the throw-out bearing fork and the groove at the end of the shaft. This was causing the shaft and fork to bind, but I was able to open out the groove with a round file, so eventually it worked ok. Not ideal, and what I have come to expect from a lot of repro parts, but I was grateful that so much is still available for our cars. which is what I suppose the suppliers rely on to keep sales going.

Thanks, Robin. That's a bummer about your operating shaft. I didn't have an issue with mine. Was actually impressed by how well it was like the original (and the quality of the welds). Cheers!

Good job on the O/D.

Thank you. I really enjoyed it, especially figuring out how it all worked. Too complicated in my opinion (why not just a 5th gear), but pretty amazing non-the-less.

Hi Chris. Nice job! You may be able to use the old copper washer by annealing it.
@roundtailrestorationАй бұрын
Yup, thought of that about 15 minutes after the trash truck drove away with the old ones in the trash bag. Kicking myself on that one. I'll come up with something (I hope!).

Take a walk to harbor freight for those copper washers,

Thanks, Mike. I didn't know they had an assortment. Worth a shot!

@@roundtailrestoration Consider pre-annealing them with a propane torch before using.

Yeah, wasn't smart enough to save the old ones. It was close...trash pickup was the day before it leaked. kick---kick----kick
