I was in the 4th grade when I waited for the release date of this album. On the day it released I begged my parents to drive to the nearest sizable town, which was 20 miles or so away, just so that I could get my hands on it. They said that was the quietest I had ever been in the car because on the way back I was completely entranced by the music, just sitting in bewilderment with my headphones in. That was by far the best car ride of my life. It's strange looking back on it. It feels even stranger that I'm now about the same age as Matt when he first released this song. Thanks for the memories, Trivium. Also, thanks for continuing to put out good music. You were my first favorite band.

10 years ago I was 19 and heard this song live for the first time not knowing who Trivium were. They opened for In Flames at a show at The Drink in London, Ontario and I headbanged and moshed so hard not caring that I had never heard of this band before. I could have left the show after their set and been completely satisfied with my concert experience. It was that good. I wasn't even excited about In Flames anymore after I heard Trivium. The next year I went back to see them again at the same venue, and got to meet them backstage as a special fan club event. They were so chill, it was amazing. Best concert memory.

Oli, maybe in the East U.S. Their shows are tiny here in Washington and Oregon. I've seen them twice and at most, there was 200 people present to see them each time. The venues were incredibly small and the only people they could get to open for them were local bands that weren't that amazing. This was in 2014 and late 2015. I don't think they're very well known on the West Coast... if they are, no one cares to see them as much it would seem. There was a giant metal festival last summer where they had a crowd, but Avenged Sevenfold was the headliner and so people were there for them. Asking Alexandria was also there and more people came for them, too.

Young or "old" trivium as some may call it is them just growing up still and enjoying headbanging and playing the fuck out of their guitars!! :D Seriously i mean they still have the same underlying message and amazing lyrics that pertain to our ordinary lives and our societies and how fucked up shit can really be. That is what i have always heard so i see no reason to just like new trivium or only like old trivium. They are just grown up now and they use the power of the voice more so then just jammin' the fuck out lol. Not that they don't get down still i am just saying the Voice is really the weapon in the end. So enjoy both old and new trivium and stop saying they have changed or blah blah whatever is lol, and if you're hating on new trivium then you're just missing out on really great music from the same band you love.

Lucid Spore I agree 100%. I can't say I'm a fan of "young (or old)" but that is just my personal opinion. They did do an incredible job on Vengeance Falls, however. You are absolutely right and I couldn't have said it better myself. They were having fun when they wrote, recorded, and play this music, so good for them. They shouldn't have to change anything to please the people. If you don't like the music, don't listen to it. Why should they change for anyone else? And if anyone thinks Trivium or any other band should play their music to appease to you, why don't you pick up an instrument and do it your damn self? Instead of just putting down other people. I have nothing but the up most respect for Trivium and every other band or musician that has "changed their sound" because they were doing what they wanted to do and enjoyed it all the way. Edit: And respect to you Mr. Spore, for your disregard of what other people think (something you cannot change, regardless)
@angrymcplatipus1239 жыл бұрын
Adonas The One Although I agree with you that Trivium shouldn't change to fit someone else's preference, I have to disagree with "why don't you pick up an instrument and do it your damn self." Most people can't learn an instrument that easily, and just because you like a style and want to play it, doesn't mean that you can. I think the reason a lot of people get mad when a band changes their style, is because they can't find that style in any other bands. For them, it meant that the style they fell in love with ceased to exist.
@angrymcplatipus1239 жыл бұрын

crazy how the record company has a say in how a bands image should be, trivium spoke about this.. where they didnt really wanna go for this whole emo thing, but the record label was pressuring them into it because this is what was in. Iron maiden also shared a similar story, when they were starting they were being told to be more punk rock, have the coloured hair and ripped jeans and stuff.. but they refused to and stuck with their long hair and metal look.

I'm sorry, I'm just speaking simple truth here: This song in just about every way out-right annihilates every other piece they have ever put out since. Granted, I'm a fan of their newer stuff too, but NONE of it has had the effect on me that this one still does to this day. It's absolutely ridiculous!

they sounded so fresh when this came out, they could have been the new Metallica but they've been very patchy since

I can see some Metallica influence on this for instance Ride the Lightning. That’s so amazing that this band took those aspects and crank them up to bad-ass!

best song of Trivium by far. melodic solos, aggresive riffs (even sometimes black metal background like Abyssos) and a nice energetic final. Like a superb movie. And a nice performance video.

I see them like two different bassists like "Look this is when they had that other bassist with hair"... Is the only way my brain can process it.
@tessdurberville4738 жыл бұрын
That's actually not Paolo in the video. But paolo had long hair (which looked awesome)
@TonyMcCrea8 жыл бұрын
That IS Paolo, are you blind? You can clearly see his face in a few shots.
@tessdurberville4738 жыл бұрын
Wait i always thought that this is Brent Young in the Video since Paolo had really long and curly hair during the Crusade era (2006) and Ascendancy was released in 2005. So either paolos hair grows faster than a wookiee's or the music videos were recorded at some other time (probably before the album was released). But taking a closer look yeah that could actually also be Paolo. I know that he played on the Album (ascendancy) but i always thought that he wasn't in the video because he usually plays with his fingers and here he uses a pick. Thanks for the Correction.

ASCENDANCY IS BEST METALCORE ALBUM EVER !!
@joerahme90307 жыл бұрын
If I had to choose the best and most influential metalcore album it would be Waking The Fallen by Avenged Sevenfold if not The Poison by Bullet For My Valentine comes in by a close second... but yes.. this album is absolutely EXTRAORDINARY.
@northwindkey6 жыл бұрын
Mr.Jack I don't see Metalcore in this album aside from Suffocating Sight. More of a Thrash album, just with Metalcore vocals.
