I love that. I’m not Christian or lgbtq+ but I have had Christian friends who were pushed out of the faith by homophones. One of them is gay and after he came out, his church kicked him out. He’s still a Christian. He just doesn’t go to church anymore until he finds one that’s accepting. I also know a gay Christian man who started an organization for Christian lgbtq+ teens who didn’t know what to do and became an ordained minister to marry lgbtq+ couples that no one else would. He was kind and humble and when my friend had to call him, he felt like he could tell him anything, judgement free. I don’t know much about Christianity but to me, he seemed like a better Christian than the ones who go around saying they are homophobic and proud and have a superiority complex purely because they are Christian. I feel like a lot of Christians are like that and accepting but they get drowned out by the judgmental and mean ones who tell every lgbtq+ person they are going to hell when only god is supposed to make that call.

Angela Brummett I’m not even religious but to me, everything you do is as pure as your intentions. If you say your a Christian but have a superiority complex just because your Christian and straight and tell gay people they are going to hell just because of that, then god knows that you have negative intentions. When you only donate so you can seem like a good person and tell everyone you did it, God knows that too. When you say you are helping a person but that’s just fake and you just want them to do what you want, then God knows that too. Your good deeds are only as good as your reasons for doing them.

3:57 “I’m very black and white... Tell me what to do, and I’ll follow it” In all seriousness, that’s a potentially dangerous mindset. Even people you look up to or respect (eg: priests, family, friends) are human and can be wrong about things. They have such a weird reading of this verse. When Paul wrote his letter to Timothy, it went something like (NIV) "I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God." Basically, that goodness is more radiant and lovely than any hairstyle, jewelry, or clothing. This is actually an audacious and radical statement for a society that judges on physical appearance, which is exactly the trap we fall into today.

They are the kind of 'true christians' that pick a single phrase written somewhere, which only applies to a certain group or situation in the Bibel, and force it on everyone around them, while also skipping the entire Jesus Christ part about bejng open-minded, non-judgmental, supportive and helping others (like that guy didn't matter, it's not like the religion is named after him). So yeah, Christians that throw the 'gay is sin' stuff around, but declare themselves perfect enough to be judgemental should probably read their book again. They are literally declaring themselves to be holier than Jesus and follow the words of a guy, who tried to murder him (the only time anti gay stuff is undebatebaly written in the Bible, is by a Roman, who tried to kill Jesus, but after his death declared himself to have turned to Christianity and be a messenger of Jesus. And then he spends his entire chapter cursing and condemning others)

Which we all really, REALLY need for more reasons than I can list. Also I can't find it right now but I once read the abstract of a large, apparently well-conducted study that found that people who thought and believed in all-or-nothing terms (a.k.a. black and white) were less able to process information which didn't fit neatly into their preconceived notions and also reported higher levels of difficulty harder time coping with life changes and recovering from trauma. Which, based on the great deal I've seen from fundamentalist and borderline fundamentalist religious folks, does not remotely surprise me.

Actually early translations of the verse say nothing about homosexuality. The greek word "malakoi" refers to being too soft and weak. Hundreds of years later they started translating it to mean being effeminate and then homosexual. So no it doesn't say gays wont enter the kingdom.

"i want to be modest and god honouring" proceeds to use products that test on animals... Ah yes such honour
@NIHIL_EGO4 жыл бұрын
Tbh God literally asks for animal sacrifice in the ancient testament, and if we go by what He says in the Genesis to Adam and Eve, He basically gave us the right to do whatever we want with them. So yeah, the Bible is far from being vegan.
@eclypsaqueen70134 жыл бұрын
actually fun fact when products say no animal testing, that means that they are using chemicals already tested on animals and proven to be safe. So technically there is animal testing, it’s just done by other peeps long before the actual product comes out.
@eclypsaqueen70134 жыл бұрын
@@catoams I think most of the testing was humanely done in the seventies but there are always outliers. Just thought you ought to know!
