@@CatBlackGuitars I mean… I’m the kind of person who you know if I had a signature guitar I would make a point of sitting down and playing a minute on everyone that goes out the door. And you know include the video or a link to the video or have a photo snapped with me playing your guitar. Do you know all in fleece or something so I don’t scratch it. Certainly there have been those limited edition guitars where are the artists and number and hand sign them behind the head stock. I think that’s pretty cool.

@@recipoldinastyClean part of Call of Ktulu was absolutely written by Dave. He asked them not to use it and they did. So later on, he added distortion and used it as the intro riff of Hangar 18. He wrote a lot of their earliest riffs. Hell, the solos on Kill 'em All are his solos. Kirk just copied them (to the best of his abilities) on the recording.

And it's disappointing because they make my favorite guitars. the styling is my fav of the brands. the fretboards, the multi-bindings, all the configurations they use with specs, hardware & electronics..a Gibson or Epiphone LP is my favorite guitar type to hold and play on. so when it's time to drop that giant money I'll have to go and pick one out by hand. it might take a few trips out to find a perfect one. I do trust Sweetwater they seem to look things over real good and set them up. at least you have ser-num choices with them.

@@dbspecials1200 Or you can look for a Tokai or Edwards. I have a Les Paul standard and a Tokai love rock with SD pickups as well as several ESPs, I can tell you the Gibson is the inferior guitar even though I like it for what it is. Get a Tokai made in Japan or an Edwards for example and you get every bit as good of a guitar for a way better price with the minor caveat being that the nitro finish is only available on expensive Tokais and Navigators (but they are at least on par or better than CS Gibson).

12:30 - As a retailer, why on Earth, would you take it upon yourself to scrape the finish off the nut? Do you think poorly removing it serves a purpose? If it was going to flake off anyway, why not just let it fall off naturally then? Hopefully other retailers don’t include a “finish alterations” as part of their QC process. If the buyer of this guitar has an issue with the giving cracking at the fretboard seam (as many Gibsons do), will they be able to get it repaired as part of the warranty, or is the warranty now voided because you chose to scrape and score the finish on the neck?
@Trog
@Trog Жыл бұрын
Better to remove it in a controlled situation rather than let it fall off naturally as it could spread further on the neck without a score line.
@fretout
@fretout Жыл бұрын
@@Trog Do you really think so? Why? Do you think the finished would continue to chop away past the nut? This is highly unlikely due to the porosity of the mahogany neck. You even mentioned in your video that the nut itself had an indentation where the nut met the neck/fretboard, so if the finish were to “wear away” from the nut, the finish would wear past this point. I’d rather have the finish be left alone, to age/wear naturally instead of having the retailer chip or scrape finish off a $7K guitar, but that’s just me. Now, the guitar will forever look like the nut replaced for “reasons”, and I can see Gibson rejecting any warranty concerns due to this modification.

Honestly, I can't wrap my head around why people pay the exorbitant price that they do for Gibsons. The USA models are fraught with QC and finish issues and they're almost 3k for those, so the solution is to offer a Custom shop version for three times the price? How about Gibson just makes high quality instruments and let the quality speak for itself instead of trying to completely live off their legacy. I have been dying to get a Les Paul custom to add to the family, but I just can't reconcile the price with the quality. Maybe one day Gibson will realize that paying a metric ass ton of money to get "signature artists" is not the solution to expand your business, and take some of that money and expand your QC department and earn customers instead of relying on artists and nostalgia fanboys? Just a thought.

Those few QC things that they could have done better are a HUGE problem in my book. For 7000€ price tag the guitar has to be freaking FLAWLESS. I really don't want to sound like that guy comming from the Glenn Fricker Gibson hate train but I value my hard earned money, and if I'm gonna shell out that kind of cash for a guitar it better be damn near perfect. The QC problems that this guitar has are the ones you get over when you buy an Epiphone version. I happen to have a brand new 2022 Epiphone Explorer Ebony. It came with some QC problems, there is a slight discoloration on the fretboard, frets could be done better, there are some finnish imperfections visible under certain kinds of light and angles, factory setup was non existant-but it is a 600€ guitar, I didn't expect it to be perfect for that kind of money. And for the 75 guitars for each colour (150 instruments in total) they could have Dave sign the COA and the guitar itself. It is a beautifull guitar but not worth 7000€/$

Anyone else thought they heard a little of the Sasquatch song? I really like the color of that V with the top it has.

I’ll tell you why they didn’t sell. THE PRICE! $6000-$7000 for these are not worth it. My USA is hardly worth $3000. Gibson needs to price these things realistically.

I’m also a huuuuge Megadeth and Gibson fan so these should be right up my ally but no. These are wayyyyy too expensive

Yeah exactly right , I can think of 10 other brands I can spend my money on. Plus you can purchase 10 guitars that are well made for these prices!

@@SkyFire2112 yes indeed. I love Dave, had the good fortune to see Megadeth a couple of times, and the last time was better than the one before. Cant say that about too many bands. I love this V. Its badass. But I agree that the price issue is absurd. I'll keep trying to play Megadeth material on an Indonesian Ibanez, for well under a grand.

Custom Shop, and they still don't spend the time to properly clean the buffing compound out of the body cavities.

Why don’t they do the headstock multiply binding on explorer customs? I always thought it would look better with it

$7,000 Gibson and pain issues? If this was any other brand people would have destroyed them. But because it's Gibson "it's a minor imperfection, you can't expect the finish to be perfect."

I'm surprised that the neck pick is now a 59 (SH-1) and not a Jazz (SH-2) like it used to be. Still, nice guitar :)

I bought a brand new 2021 vintage sunburst Les Paul jr with that weird lacquer blob on the nut. I complained to the shop about it and they took $150 off the price which I thought was pretty fair. But yea, I’ve been seeing it a lot too

I'm guessing they didn't sell out right away because of the sort of recent video showing Dave being kind of a jerk while playing on a multi stage big venue while the next act up sound check was bleeding through to his set. Understandable for either band, but my thought is that this sort of thing can affect guitar sales.

Yesss i was hoping that i can see it in your video :D However, Yes this is really beautiful, but I don't think people would choose this over the KV1 which most would say the best Dave Mustaine model considering this is $7k

I love how the decal on the case still CLEARLY shows him playing his old Dean V. I think it's hysterical that they haven't caught that yet. "Gibson: Good Enough"

I love the guitar but idk flame maple top v’s just make me think Dean not really Gibson. Still cool guitar and I love the Explorer headstock, one of the reasons I got my Kramer guitars since they have the explorer headstock.

For a guy that wants perfect instruments, he should lay down something to protect the finish when the pickups are out of the guitar.. those screws will inevitably scratch the heck out the finish. And yeah, there’s no wonder they didn’t sell.. price is out of control. Clearly, if money is no object, then knock yourself out.

What's wrong with just flopping them over onto the finish? It's not like the nitro is perfect anyways 😂 Gibson applies their shit with a paint roller

I really thought these were going to be signed at that price point and Gibson decided not to mention it. Asked a rep at Sweetwater last year if he knew when the black one was coming out and he he said they were taking 5k deposits for them. About 💩 myself. 😂
