Also, to all the People who are wondering about what happened to silly self (because apparently they did not watch the background video "The video idea" ;) I just realised that the very first hint that silly self is also the smart one is actually in my all time favourite and yet sadly underwatched (I hereby declare this a word now) video "Ooh, metaphor!" IT WAS ALL THERE, YOU JUST FAILED TO SEE IT!!! SUCKERS! Hoping that my trolling has improved, Sincerely, Astrid :)

Since I've found your videos a few days ago, I marvel at the way people like you have a format to express your creativity. A generation ago, maybe someone like you could only brighten their classroom or their community. Since the internet is everywhere now someone like me in the States can enjoy an unique teacher from Germany, whose passions are only limited by her imagination. A teacher whose passions are Doctor Who, teaching and raising chickens :)

I usually do not comment, but I had to say I really, really liked this video and your ideas about trolls. The essence of the troll's existence is to instigate a war on the forum/comment section, where they are posting. They may not believe anything they are posting but they do enjoy causing a flame war. I got a friend who is an amazing troll. He met his wife trolling a chat room. There's a lesson in there someplace .

There are ways to communicate with trolls. I actually trolled a couple of trolls until they gave up. The other method is to simply ask them 'Why do you think that?' Non-confrontative, naive response that doesn't give any surface for attack. I haven't tried it myself, because I never had a troll on my own feeds.

(2) However, one of the interesting things about your "selves" is that this approach shows the "multiple voices" you earthlings have in your head, which are all smart and stupid and objective and biased in their own way. Having one self that "is the smart one" somewhat reduces this effect. -> (3)

Thank you for that great video and message! As an older adult, I have been horrified at how uncivilized people's comments are. Not to mention bad spelling and language. Is that what the future is going to look like? I do agree that anonymity gives people the 'courage' to say whatever they want, but that is no excuse for being so cruel. I hope people who do YT videos can learn from you not to take the trolls seriously! BTW: I love your videos

Yeah. My old German teacher has a preference for "y'all" as a plural you, but she was raised German, and to her, it's the best thing to replace the plural you she's used to. It's mostly just a southern thing though.

I understand better now. Maybe, in other videos, Silly appeared as "the smart one" in the sense that she questions everything - obviously a sign of smartness - but not in the sense that she provides elaborate answers like in this video. So her monologue in this video, nodded by everyone else, comes as a bit of a surprise. That may be wrongly perceived by viewers like me (and maybe also Earthling viewers) as "out of character". --> (2)

I've found that the best way to solve the gender biasing which in inherent within our respective languages is to use the term "he or she" the first time in reference to them, and then alternate between the singular genders from that point on, as in he or she, thereby negating the gender bias which the patriarchal systems of conformity established for us all concerning human communications. And once again, it's a man who has make a concept clear so that all can understand.

it's an interesting point, but I want to point out that Im usually polite online and try my best to be polite offline, if I see a video that I disagree with, I try to put forth a meaningful reason for not caring for what I see as opposed to just yelling and screaming at the person's youtube video, so I feel that if someone just trolls, its how they are offline because they could make an effort to at least put forth a reasonable argument and not give in to the general populous. ps love the videos

(3) So I wonder, wouldn't it be possible to create (or flesh out) another character which is equally smart and multi-dimensional, but has a wholly different point of view? I know, you earthlings are always tempted to "take sides" and to choose one "true view" amongst all possible points of view. But resiting to this temptation and allowing the coexistence of contradictory, equally "smart" viewpoints would make the discussions between the "selves" even ore interesting that they already are.

I had a language teacher who insisted that "they" is not a neutral pronoun, but that there apparently is none in the English language. Our common use of "they" as a neutral pronoun is just an attempt to fill the lexical gap. It's similar to the lack of a plural "you" in English. Generally, I tend to use masculine nouns and pronouns as gender neutral, like using "guys" to refer to any mix of male/female, or "man" to refer to mankind.

It mustn't and I tried really hard to say "they" all the time, but it feels weird when you're German, because the word "der Troll" has masculine gender and that's why I might slip back sometimes. I don't know. Did I? On the other Hand, saying "they" as a neutral pronoun is something I'm not used to, I always associate it with plural.
